The only requirement to be admitted as a regular graduate student at MIT is an applicant must have earned a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited college, university, or technical school of acceptable standing . Students in their final year of undergraduate study may be admitted on the condition that their bachelor’s degree is awarded before they enrol at MIT.

Hello there,
With 198 marks in TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions) , you have a very competitive score , especially for the CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) branch.
Here’s the realistic chance in
Round 2 (or even earlier):
High Chances:
MIT (Madras Institute of Technology)
– CSE: Possible in
Round 1 or 2
, depending on your
community quota
.
CEG (College of Engineering, Guindy)
– CSE: Slightly tougher, but
possible in Round 2
for
BC/MBC/SC/ST categories
.
SSN College of Engineering
– CSE: Likely, especially in
management quota or later rounds
. SSN also conducts
separate counselling
for merit-based management seats.
Depends on:
Your community/reservation category
Your region quota (TN State board vs CBSE, etc.)
Number of seats filled in Round 1
If you belong to a reserved category (BC, MBC, SC, ST) — your chances increase significantly for all three colleges.
I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries, feel free to share your questions with us, and we will be happy to assist you.
Thank you, and I wish you all the best in your bright future.
Since you scored 89 in MET and 83.5% in board, your rank in the MET exam might be in the AIR 10,000-12,000 range. Competition for this rank is high and it allows you to apply to Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical or Civil Engineering departments at MIT Bangalore, provided seats are still open and the required mark is achieved that year.
Branches such as Computer Science have difficult entrance requirements, so you can either get a higher rank or consider other courses. Since the cutoffs for these engineering areas are somewhat lower, your chances of being admitted are better.
You should be involved in choosing your subjects and fill your expected choices, in case there is a shortage of seats in your preferred branch.
