Hi Shani,

JNU is an excellent college in terms of educational facilities, faculties and peer groups. If the subjects mentioned i.e. political science, history, sociology etc. excites you, do go for it. However, do not choose a college just because of its name, consider the subjects you're getting with more priority as sooner or later you'll start hating them if they do not motivate you.

So as to simplify my answer, give preference to the course and then college.

Hope this helps.

Hello Aspirant

  • The admission of the candidate in Jaipur National University (JNU) is entirely on the basis of merit.
  • The candidate needs to be a 12th pass with a minimum of 50% in order to take admission in any of the U.G. Programmes.
  • Each programme has its own specific eligibility criteria.

Hi Aspirant!

I would suggest you to start from the basics which you can do by first revising your under graduation syllabus of BA Economics. Then proceed to the syllabus as per the entrance exam of JNU or BHU. Once you are done with revision start solving sample papers and previous year papers for both exams. For the reference you can take help of following books:

  • Mathematical economics by Hammond and Sydsaeter
  • Introductory economics by Wooldridge
  • Microeconomic Theory by Nicholson and Synder
  • Macroeconomics by Olivier Blanchard

Hey there!

Jawaharlal Nehru University doesn't provide BA hons. in Political Science. So, you must have been asking for MA Political Science Entrance or may be PhD.

Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Exams are definitely not easy because there is so much competition, with very less seat and questions are really conceptual. So, just by mugging up all theories you can't clear it.

In Jawaharlal Nehru University prospectus they have mentioned JNUEE MA Political Science Syllabus.

1.Social and Political Thought of Modern India

2.Concepts and Approaches in Political Theory

3.Political Processes and Public Policies in India

4.State and Politics in India

5.Comparative Government and Politics

6.International Relations

7. Western Political Thought

8.Public Administration

It is very important to read basic political science books for Masters entrance. You can refer books and sometimes student often prepare from IGNOU BA Political Science notes. Please refer to BA hons. Delhi University syllabus to understand every sub-topic of JNU entrance syllabus.

Western Political Thought by O.P. Gauba, Indian Polity by M. Laxmikant, Indian Political Thought by BR Mehta, Western Political Thought by Shefali Jha( you can refer either OP Gauba or Shefali Jha), Public administration by M. Laxmikant or Bidyut Chakraborty, Comparative Politics by J.C. Johari, International Relations by Andrew Heywood.

You can read some important topics from these books. Some of them are recommended by JNU professors and some of them are recommended by JNU students.

Lastly, nothing is better than solving loads of question papers because the paper pattern is objective in nature. Here is the link for the same.

Alternatively, you can also go through National Testing Agency official website for previous year's question papers and for mock tests also.

I hope this answer helps you.

Hey there!

Yes. I will explain it to you.

Actually they will never ask you direct questions related to current affairs and static general knowledge but they ask to questions related to history and from History topics that are currently in news.

Example- Any current news related to a famous temple, any news related to archaeologists, etc.

So, for now focus on the syllabus of JNUEE MA History and give just 20 to 30 minutes to read latest news related to history.
