A renowned Central University in New Delhi, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University is committed to teaching and preserving Sanskrit studies as well as Indian knowledge systems.  The admission procedure at SLBSNSU is targeted to select the best candidates from across the country. Typically, it would start from the month of May to June for the academic year starting in August-September. The university conducts its own entrance examinations to most of its programs to ensure fairness and competition in selection. Admission Requirements for BA Shastri: The candidate for undergraduate study must have passed successfully 10+2 from a recognized board with one subject as a medium of Sanskrit. 

Postgraduate applicants must hold a bachelor's degree relevant to the discipline from a recognized university. All India Combined Entrance Tests are conducted by the university for different programs, such as B.Ed., M.Ed., and Ph.D. These entrance tests mainly assess the proficiency of the candidate in Sanskrit and their chosen area of expertise. An interview round may follow the entrance test for some courses to further assess the proficiency and passion of the candidate in the subject.

Application Process

Application method for Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University depends on the selected degree:

1. Online application: All applicants should fill in their online application form for the desired degree program by logging in to the official SLBSNSU website.

2. Document Upload: Several essential documents must be uploaded by applicants in the scanned format, such as:

• Passport photograph
• Signature
• 10th and 12th mark sheets
• Graduation mark sheets (for applicants for postgraduation and Ph.D.)
• Category certificate (if necessary)
• Any other documents as the university specifies.

3. Application Fee Payment: Candidates must pay the requisite application fee online via the payment gateway as indicated. The amount may differ from one category to another of applicants.

4. Entrance Test: Candidates shall be issued admit cards for the entrance test after successfully submitting their application forms. This entrance test is conducted in various centers across India.

BA Shastri: Major undergraduate program in SLBSNSU, admission based on entrance conducted by the university with a total intake of 185 seats.

MA Programs: The university is also offering several MA programs within various Sanskrit specializations such as Sahitya, Dharamshastra, Jyotish, Yoga, etc. Entrance to the respective MA programs is by way of entrance test as conducted by the university. Each of the MA programs in general has an intake capacity of 38 students.

B.Ed: The B.Ed program in SLBSNSU has 200 total seats for admission based on an All India Combined Entrance Test followed by an interview.

M.Ed: The intake for M.Ed. program is 50. Admission is based on passing the All India Combined Entrance Test followed by an interview.

Ph.D: Doctorate programs in various Sanskrit disciplines are offered at SLBSNSU institutions. All India Combined Entrance Test followed by interview is the admission procedure for Ph.D. programs provided by the university in subjects such as Veda, Dharamshastra, Vyakarana, Jyotisha, Sahitya, etc.
