Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University (MBSPSU), Patiala, is dedicated to sports education and all related fields. All admissions select talented students who are academically sound and good at sports activities.
The admission cycle is similar to that in other state universities. Hence, prospective students are advised to keep checking the admission updates in terms of application dates as well as on the date of the academic year starting.
Various programs have different eligibility criteria. Most of the undergraduate programs require a candidate to have completed his/her 10+2 education from a recognized board, while in the case of the postgraduate program, a relevant bachelor's degree is required. Other specific academic and age criteria may exist.
Selection methods vary with courses. For example, a Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports program (B.P.E.S) tests physical fitness. Merit will also consider academics and achievements in sports. Some courses require entrance examinations.
Application Process
Obtain Application Form for Program of Interest.
Fill Application Form Properly.
Collect other required documents such as:
Mark sheets of class 10 and 12
Bachelor's degree certificate and mark sheets (for postgraduate programs)
Sports certificates and achievements
Passport-sized photographs
Proof of identity and address
Submission of the application form with documents attached.
Pay the application charges as stated.
Prepare well for and take part in the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) if necessary (B.P.E.S).
Attend other interviews or tests as required.
Wait for the announcement of merit or admission results.
If selected, complete formalities associated with admission i.e. document verification and fee payment before the date specified.
Degree-wise Admission Process
B.P.E.S (Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports):
The total intake is 50 students. For admission, one must qualify for the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). The merit list shall be prepared based on academic performances and sports achievements.
B.A. (Bachelor of Arts):
The total intake is 50 seats. The admission shall be based on inter-se merit among candidates of different categories according to the university criteria.
B.Sc Sports Sciences:
30 seats are available. The admission process seems likely to follow the general undergraduate admission procedures.
M.P.E.S (Master of Physical Education and Sports):
Intake of 50 students. Admission most probably based on performance in undergraduate level and sports achievements.
PG Diploma in Yoga:
30 seats. Admission based entirely on merits list.
PG Diploma in Sports Coaching:
30 seats. The admission is most likely based on the under graduation qualification and sports experiences.
M.Sc. Yoga:
20 seats. Admission criteria may include relevant bachelor´s degree and possibly entrance test or interview.
