The demand for technical skills is rapidly increasing and online learning is emerging as a viable alternative to traditional classroom-based education. However, working professionals looking to upskill or switch careers can pursue an M.Tech under Work Integrated Learning Programmes (WILP).
M.Tech is a professional course, and cannot be pursued online. However, several institutions offer M.Tech programmes for working professionals. Individuals with a diploma can enter the second year of the programme. These lateral entry MTech programmes help working professionals enhance their technical expertise while continuing their jobs.
An M.Tech for working professionals is conducted through online mode on weekends or after business hours. This flexible schedule allows professionals to balance their study while working full time.
An online MTech course opens doors to a variety of career prospects with handsome salary potential. Professionals can even get promotions at work or make a career transition. Students through an online M.Tech course are equipped with problem-solving abilities, research-oriented thinking, and industry-relevant expertise.
M.Tech is a professional postgraduate programme that cannot be pursued online as per UGC guidelines, which prohibit engineering courses from being offered in an online mode. This ensures students receive essential hands-on training and lab experience, maintaining the technical and practical standards required for quality engineering education.
Universities in India offer Work-Integrated Learning Programme (WILP) to cater to the needs of working professionals who want to upskill while working. WILP is a flexible learning approach that blends online theory classes with practical sessions conducted in industry settings.
While WILP-based M.Tech programmes offer the flexibility of remote learning, students have to attend blended classes, which include essential offline components such as lab sessions, industry projects, and occasional on-campus visits. This ensures that students develop practical skills along with theoretical expertise.
