there are no issues in getting a job in IT sector irrespective of your branch until and unless you have dirtied your hands in coding.. if your coding skills are strong then you'd certainly get an IT sector job...

Hello Vishal,

Hope you are well.

Average package in any college varies every year.
Electrical Engineering is a Core Department.

In case you get into a IT job , the packages offered by them are near about 59 LPA.
And if you bag a job in Private core companies, maximum package for Electrical comes from Tata Metalliks, CESC and Schneider Electric ranging from (68 LPA)
Further, if you land up into a PSU (a dream for most of the Engineers from Core Departments ) , you will be offered 89 LPA.

My AIR in jee mains is 16927, which is the best NIT (placement wise) I could get??

Your chajces are best with NIT AGARTALA, Arunachal pradesh, Jamirpur, Raipur, Sikkim, Rourkela, bhopal, Sringar, Sikkim, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland.

Out of the lot NIT Rourkela and NIT Bhopal are best in terms of placements.

Both have fantastic placements ratio of above 90% and average package above 4.6LPa.

Ranked in top 100 engineering college across India.

You have no chance to get into any of NIT's for any of the branch. Your score is too low to get it.

Hello rahul,

The home state cut off for chemical engineering in NIT Durgapur 2017 was around 26 thousand rank then you can get admission in it. But the cut off for all india student was around 8000 rank. To check rest of the NIT cut offs them go to the below link it will help you-

On the basis of your marks there are chances for getting admission in NIT.

But chances are less for getting admission in cs branch but you may get admission in other branches.

Both of them are really good colleges for Electrical engineering according to their ratings and reviews.But considering the placement, NIT Jamshedpur will be the best option as there is high placement opportunities and packages offered to students.

College Infrastructure

Recently in NIT Durgapur the Research Excellence Building was inaugurated, which will positively impact the college reputation and overall ranking, the food quality in hostel mess is excellent and healthy, the college has two grounds for sports and a large library with numerous collections of books is present in the central library, Classroom are neat and clean and are digital.

College Infrastructure

Its a decent NIT with good infrastructure with good libraries canteen cafeteria hostel for boys and girls. Though class rooms are not in good position some are non ac room, benches are uncomfortable in 2025, but renovation is going on.
