Dear candidate, it's great that you have chosen Mechanical Engineering branch for higher studies. NIT Durgapur is a very renowned institution however considering the Mechanical Engineering curriculum I would suggest you to choose NIT Kurukshetra. This Institute maintained its infrastructure really well for years, they provide top class faculties and standard facilities like well equipped labs, library, hostels, wifi, auditorium, swimming pool, store and many more. Talking about placements of mechanical branch, big companies recruit freshers from the campus and offer packages around 6-8 LPA. Overall it's a great experience,

Hi,

First of all you should decide your preference among EE and ECE .

In my opinion you should take ECE in NIT Raipur.
Also you can be placed quite well in ECE.

According to me you should go with that branch in which you find yourself more interested. "DEEP INTEREST " is key to success in any branches. i think it's interest which led to success in any branch, it is better in term of placements. one thing you should always keep in mind that both the institute are premier institute but NIT Raipur is something different from other institutes(IITs/NITs).It has vision of becoming leading institute in the world by upcoming next 6-7 years and for this vision rapid growth of institute is on it's track, within 3 years NIT Raipur is ranked between 6-9 top NITs by different websites(inclusive of 6 and 9).

ECE: Electronics and Communication Engineering
EEE: Electronics and Electrical Engineering

EEE: Electrical and Electronics Engineering branch deals with Electrical technology and machines, circuit analysis, electronics, electromagnetism, electrical engineering materials, instrumentation, control systems, power engineering and transmission and distribution.

ECE: This branch mainly deals with analog transmission, basic electronics, solid state devices, microprocessors, digital and analog communication, analog integrated circuits, satellite communication, microwave engineering, antennae and wave progression. It also deals with the manufacturing of electronic devices, circuits, and communications equipment.

Placements:

EEE: Electrical graduates are employed in Electricity Boards/Utility companies responsible for installation, maintenance, operation of power handling equipment and systems. Industries manufacturing large electrical machines and equipment employ engineers in design, production and testing. For individuals dreaming of JTO(Junior Training Officer), DRDO(Defence Research and Development Organisation), ISRO(Indian Space Research Organisation) and GATE, EEE is not a good choice. This is because they have a separate paper for ECE, while students pursuing EEE have to study a lot of other things. Besides this, EEE students can’t take IES while ECE students can.

ECE: In ECE, the scope to land into government jobs is great. An electronics engineer can find a job in Central Government, State Governments and their sponsored corporations, private industries dealing in manufacture, sales and services of electronics consumer goods and appliances. Additionally, electronics engineers are also absorbed into the broadcast industry, research establishments, and defence.

NIT Durgapur and NIT Raipur are quite the same with no much difference.

Its all upon your interest and your choice of career.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

NIT Durgapur is the one of the best NIT campuses in India. If you think of Hostel facilities, it is comfortable and well maintained. Food privilege will satisfy you pretty much, you won't have any difficulties to stay in that campus hostel. Next Comes placements, starting package can be from 7-12 LPA, can rise upto 30 LPA. Mass recruiters, core companies visit the campus very often. Companies like Amazon, Tata, Cognizant, Google hire freshers from this campus every year. So it would be a lifetime experience,

NTA Scores are given in percentile.
Percentile is calculated by the ratio of the number of values to the total number of values . You cant say/depict your actual score/rank from your percentile neither can you calculate it by only marks. To calculate the actual score/rank/percentile you would need to know the number of students who appeared in the examination and the highest score, average cut offs and the highest score. while as marks are calculated based on the right questions you have attempted, out of the total marks you have obtained for the right number of questions marks from wrong questions marked are deducted from the total.

NTA announces the result of JEE Main/Advance in the form of a percentile score in every attempt or exam of JEE Main/Advance. The All India Rank (AIR) of candidates in JEE Main is calculated by taking the best score out of four attempts and are provided after the result of fourth exam. Candidates are able to check the detailed marks vs ranks of JEE Main/Advance after the conclusion of the exam.

Two types of ranks are given at the end:

1. AIR: All India Rank
2. CR: Category Rank

AIR is the overall rank obtained by the candidate respective of their category and CR is the rank candidates got in their respective category (General/EWS/SC/ST).

It depends upon the JEE Main and JEE Advance cut offs, If You manage to qualify the exam by achieving the cut off, You can apply for JOSAA Counselling. It should be noted the cut off for EWS/SC/ST/FEMALES/OBC category is lower than the general category
However It is usually advised to fill the choices as per the preference of colleges and departments, for example CSE in NIT Trichy is your priority followed by CSE in NIT Warangal, you can fill CSE at NIT Trichy at serial number 1 and CSE at NIT Warangal at serial number 2 and so on and so forth. However to get any NIT, you must have qualified JEE Mains and to get any IIT, you must have qualifies JEE Advanced

But the previous cut offs of colleges should be taken in consideration, it is better to research over the cut off of colleges then make a preference list of colleges and fill accordingly

Both are very good and high ranking and reputed engineering colleges.

Placement wise NIT Durgapur has an edge over iiest Shibpur.

At IIEST, average salary package is around 6 LPA-7 LPA for Electrical Engineering. About 85% to 90% of the students get placements from here. The highest salary package offered here was 27 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 4 LPA.

The overall placement rate is 71.92% here, with the highest salary package of 33 LPA and the average salary package of 9.09 LPA. Renowned companies like Qualcomm, PwC, Cognizant, Capgemini, JCB, Infosys, ZS Associates, Samsung and Alstom recruited students from here. The percentage of students getting placed is less as many students prefer to go for post graduation and not appear in campus placements.

Otherwise in terms of curriculum and infrastructure, both colleges are somewhat similar.
The total fees for each semester at NIT Durgapur is Rs 81,300. While at IIEST Shibpur the fees is around Rs 68,000 per semester.

National Institute of Technology Durgapur might not be among the top NITs but the placement record for chemical Engineering of NIT Durgapur is far better than any other colleges. The 4 years i would never forget

College Infrastructure

The infrastructure of our college is quite good, especially for the biotechnology department. Our building is relatively new and well-maintained. It houses modern labs equipped with the necessary instruments and machines required for the practical and research. The classrooms are spacious and have proper ventilation. The overall environment is clean and conducive to learning. Apart from academics, the campus also provides good facilities for overall student development. There is a well-equipped gym available for students, along with games. The college also has centrally air-conditioned library with vast collection of books, journals, and digital resources ,offering a comfortable and quiet environment for studying. The only problem is many of the buildings are quite old so u may feel a bit underwhelmed.
