Hello,
First of all I am happy to hear that your friend is doing fine now.
Getting into the top IITs is a dream for many engineering aspirants. To get an admission into the top IITs you need to do really well in the JEE Advance. And to be able to appear for JEE Advance you need to qualify JEE Mains being among the top 2,50,000 candidates.
JEE Advanced is considered to be one of the toughest entrance examinations and there is a tight competition for this exam. Students failing in the first attempt make repeated attempts. To crack JEE Advanced requires a lot of hard work.
Candidates should have qualified the 10+2th examination with Minimum 75% aggregate if there is no reservation to be eligible for JEE Advance.
Below I have provided some tips for preparing for JEE Mains and Advanced examinations.
The most important thing that has to be done first is to understand the exam pattern, the dates and the syllabus . This helps you to understand which topics you will have to spend more time on and plan your timetable accordingly
Once you get to know about the syllabus and the dates, now you can set a timetable. You can decide how many days or hours you will be keeping for each subjects, revision and to practice previous year papers and mock tests. Manage time in a way that you spend enough time on difficult topics and also ensure that you have ample time for revision and practice.
Another important thing to keep in mind is to find the correct books for you . Some books may be hard to follow, so try to get materials that are written in a student friendly language. Below I have given a link where you can find details about the best study materials
https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/best-study-material-for-jee-main
While studying the subjects make sure you keep note of important points and equations in a separate book . This will come in handy at the time of revision.
Once you are done studying the subjects start revising and doing previous year papers and mock question papers on a daily basis . This helps you to recollect the formulas, gives you an idea on where you have to improve and will also help you to manage time better. Make it a point to solve atleast one paper every day during the month you have kept apart for revision and practicing question papers.
Below I have shared a link where you can get sample question papers.:

Another important thing is that don’t study anything new at the last minute and this can create confusions.
NEVER TAKE YOUR HEALTH FOR GRANTED . Get proper sleep, eat healthy food and keep your self hydrated. Ensure that you do not stress your self too much and give enough time to relax and take breaks. Always remember that if you are stressed out then take a break as it would not bring out any good results when you put yourself in more stress.
Finally, on the day of the exam relax and don’t get tensed. Keep your mind clear and give the exam. You will surely be able to do well.
Following these and being completely dedicated to this, I am sure your friend will be able to get into one of the best IITs.
Hope this was useful.
Good Luck

Hey
Yes it does matter when you passed your 12th standard while taking admission in colleges like BIt or VJTI or VIT during counselling. If you have a drop year they will ask you about it and you will be required to provide a gap year certificate too. It will not matter a lot if the gap was due to drop taken for studying in institutes (preparing for JEE etc) as most students do it. However if the drop was due to any illegal behaviour then it might be a disadvantage.
It all depends on the reason taken for the drop written in the drop certificate.

Dear aspirant,
According to your question and taking into consideration that you want to know about what would be a better option for a Bengali student. Is it bit mesra jaipur or patna.
I would like to tell you that both the colleges are not very suited with Bengali language as if you would consider placements then it would be better if you go to bit mesra jaipur.
College infrastructure is not upto the mark as it should be in Btech Colleges. The Buildings are once made and never looked back.Only Good thing is Library .BIT Patna offers modern infrastructure with well-equipped labs, smart classrooms, a central library, Wi-Fi campus, hostels, and sports facilities, providing a good learning environment. Birla institute of technology , mesra , boasts one of the most spacious and beautiful campuses in India , spread over 780 acres of greenry. The college infrastructure is well developed and caters to both academic and extra curricular activities. Classrooms are clean, well equiped and are aided with good modern facilities like projectors and smart boards. The library is massive and house thousands of books and digital resources from students of all streams. The institute has also great sports infrastructure that includes cricket, football and almost all indoor games including badminton , table tennis ,etc. The environment is peaceful and inspiring helping students to focus on their academics as well as personal growth. Hostel food and occasional maintanance is the only negative part that is dominant. Overall, BIT Mesra offers an ideal setting for a balanced college life with everything a student may need, right within the campus.
The infrastructure here is quite impressive. The classrooms are well-equipped, and while the labs have the basic tools you need. You'll find air-conditioned classrooms. The hostels are generally considered spacious and well-maintained, with daily cleaning, and each has its own dining hall. They also have night canteens, which is convenient. The college has a good library, fast Wi-Fi all over the campus, a medical center, and sports facilities. However, a few folks have suggested the cafeteria could use a facelift and that some washrooms might need better hygiene.
