Iiest shibpur is new college but nit silchar is older so alumni network matters so you should go for nit silchar.but current time according to nirf shibpur is better so this is possible also that after 4 years placement of shibpur may go ahead of nit silchar. Metallurgical and materials engineering at IIEST Shibpur is one of the oldest department

IIEST Shibpur has better than average placement especially in dept of metallurgy and mining.

Packages of 8lpa are common and Coal India, Vedanta, Tata steel visit for offering campus placements.

The average package across all branches stand at 6 lpa, higher than most NITs and comparable to Top 3 NITs.

Also it depends upon the demand in industries, market of that year and many other factors.

IIEST shibpur is one of the finest college for engineering in our country, hence if you a get a chance here you must take it. For that you have to crack jee advance with a decent rank.

Now the placement scenario bis also very good for all the branches. If we talk about metallurgy then is more than average, but for material engineering it is average at the moment but gradually it would also increase.
