Hello Aspirant,

Based on your details with EWS rank of 48,000 and 77 percentile as a female candidate, Your seat as home state quota for NIT Andhra Pradesh, I want to clarify one thing:

The closing rank of 74,000 you said for Civil Engineering at NIT AP is for the Common Rank List (CRL) and not EWS category. JoSAA usually provides closing ranks by category (Home State/Other State, and Female/Non-Female), so the EWS closing ranks would be in the EWS specific closing ranks under the category for Female, Home State.  With the EWS rank of 48,000, you will probably not get a seat into Civil Engineering at NIT AP because the EWS closing ranks for Civil engineering under the home state quota last year are usually much lower (usually under 3,000-5,000 EWS rank).

Hello Aspirant,

Selecting the top institute between IIIT Bhagalpur, IIIT Agartala, IIIT Dharwad, IIIT Kalyani, IIITV-ICD, IIIT Senapati, BIT Patna, and NIT Arunachal Pradesh for CSE is based on a variety of factors

Placement Trends:

  1. Among the options provided here, IIIT Dharwad and IIIT Kalyani generally have the strongest placement records, although some students got decent placements through product-based and service companies.
  2. BIT Patna and NIT Arunachal Pradesh do well in terms of placements through "service" sector companies, leaking out a small amount of placements.

  3. IIITV-ICD (the newer campus of IIIT Vadodara) is evolving, but growing.

  4. IIIT Agartala, IIIT Bhagalpur, and IIIT Senapati - being younger still, might have some sparse placement history at this point.

Alumni Network :

  1. Older institutions like BIT Patna and NIT Arunachal Pradesh have a more robust alumni network and culture.
  2. IIIT Dharwad and IIIT Kalyani are rapidly developing an alumni culture.
  3. Younger IIITs have some distance to travel in terms of having a strong alumni presence when it comes to alumni presence.

Exposure & Opportunities :

  1. IIITs focus more on coding culture and tech events, which is a blessing for CSE students.
  2. IIIT Dharwad and Kalyani have been participating in coding competitions, hackathons, and tech partnerships.
  3. Location also makes a difference — being close to tech hotspots such as Bangalore (Dharwad) or Kolkata (Kalyani) can provide more visibility.

Faculty:

  1. The quality of the faculty is inconsistent for all except IIIT Kalyani and Dharwad have improved ratios of older PhDs as well as research-productive faculty.
  2. IIIT Dharwad and IIIT Kalyani have relatively better hostels also. Unlike other IIITs they have even better food quality.

Food and Hostel Facilities:

  1. It has been suggested in the feedback that IIIT Dharwad and IIIT Kalyani have relatively better hostels as well as quality of food.
  2. BIT Patna also has decent facilities, but NIT Arunachal and IIITs of NE region may have limited option based on their location.

Conclusion:

  1. If placements and coding culture are your top priority, opt for IIIT Dharwad or IIIT Kalyani.
  2. If degree brand and alumni network matter the most to you, BIT Patna or NIT Arunachal could be better.
  3. For those willing to bet on improving campuses, IIIT Bhagalpur or IIITV-ICD could offer fast-growing opportunities with time.

Hi,

Percentile depends on the

number of students taking up examination

difficulty of the paper on that particular batch

highest score of student on that particular batch

yet with previous year trends, its difficult to get NIT AP.

Yet you can try other government colleges.

All the best

Hello,

As you secured 90 percentile approximately and considering you belong to sc category let me tell you will surely secure a seat in NIT Andhra but cse branch will be a tough to crack in this percentile because for that you need atleast 93-94 percentile.

But you can get electronics and communication and electrical and electronics , mechanical , civil engineering. However various factors are considered while deciding the cut offs like number of vacant seats in college, previous years cut offs, difficulty level of the paper.

If you want to check the colleges other than this you can get , you can have a look at the link given below -

Hello Aspirant,

As you have got 89.2429097 percentile in JEE mains, your General rank will be somewhere in between 120000. And your SC category rank will be around 2200-3000.

With this rank you have chances to get admission to NIT Andhra Pradesh. As per previous year data closing rank for SC category was 2924.

You can check out more details about NIT Andhra Pradesh:

Dear aspirant,

NIRF ranking takes multiple factors into account and sometimes some private university ranks better than NITs and that does not necessarily reflect the quality of education offered in an institute. Look at what parameters you are interested in and talk to the alumni and look for students review. NIRF ranking is an overall ranking system so say a science institute does not offer great placements but that doesn't mean the quality of research over there is poor. Hence, one cannot trust NIRF blindly for looking at individual aspects of the institute.

Hope this helps

By doing so your first year which you have studied at nit arunanchal pradesh will go in vein and that year will be treated as a drop year and for your information drop year does not have any impact on jobs or going abroad for that matter but yes one should avoid it if one can and since you are in an nit that too chemical branch so you should avoid doing this just for the sake of getting cse as you can apply for branch change and secondly you can practice coding despite being in chemical branch and apply for off campus placements in case companies do not allow you otherwise final decision is yours

Hello Aspirant,

Since you have not mentioned your category so considering it as General.

If we go through the analysis of marks Vs Percentile Vs rank for JEE-Main 2020 then according to the percentile mentioned by you in the question your CRL rank is expected to be in the range of 61380 - 69000 , you can check out marks Vs ranks Vs Percentile from the link given below :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-marks-vs-percentile

Or

You can also use JEE-Main Rank Predictor to predict your rank :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor

As we go through the latest cut-offs of JEE-Main 2020 of JOSAA 6th round then it shows that :-

Closing CRL rank for NIT AP was :-

  • Metallurgical and Materials Engineering branch - 46463 (Home state quota)

So you have quite low chances to get NIT AP with any of the branches even if you have Home state quota.

But yes if you improve your percentile in any further session of JEE-Main like around 96+ then you might have a shot at NIT AP .

You can check out the latest cut-offs from the link given below :-

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

Note that the above prediction is made on the basis of latest cut-offs available on official website of JOSAA or CSAB and the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors such as the number of candidates appearing in an examination, the number of candidates qualifying an examination, difficulty level of the paper, and so on.
