Hello,
So you're looking at B.Tech AI & Data Science at VTU Mysore . First off, VTU-affiliated colleges have a decent standard, especially if you’re into tech. AI and Data Science are booming fields right now and will be even bigger by the time you graduate. Mysore itself is a peaceful student-friendly city, and living expenses are quite low compared to Bangalore.
Now, the key is checking which college under VTU you’re considering. If it’s SJCE (JSS Science & Tech) or NIE, that’s great they’ve got strong faculty, decent placements, and good peer groups. Placements for AI/DS are decent but require self-effort too. These fields need a strong grip on Python, machine learning libraries , and ideally, some real-world projects. If you’re unsure about this specialization, consider starting with CSE and taking AI/DS electives later.

Hope it will help you!
Hello,
The cut-off ranks for DCET 2025 at VTU-affiliated colleges in Bangalore will influence your likelihood of securing lateral entry into engineering courses. According to data from past years, leading institutions like University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE), RV College of Engineering (RVCE), MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, BMS College of Engineering, and Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (AIT) display lower cut-off ranks, indicating higher competitiveness.
For instance, UVCE's cut-off ranks ranged from approximately 5,000 to 12,000 based on the branch, whereas Dr. AIT and MS Ramaiah typically fell within the 7,000–10,000 range. Institutions such as Sir MVIT, Dayananda Sagar College, and PES College are affiliated with VTU and have different cut-off marks depending on the demand for branches and their availability.
If your DCET 2025 ranking is in this competitive category, you might achieve admission to one of these institutions for popular fields such as Computer Science, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering. Remember that the precise cut-offs vary annually due to seat availability, candidate choices, and category reservations, thus it is crucial to participate in counselling and stay updated with KEA’s official announcements.
Hope this helps. All the best!
Hello Madhumati,
Since VTU (Visvesvaraya Technological University) is an Affiliating university, the placement rates are very much dependent on the individual colleges under VTU. The top affiliated colleges like RVCE, BMSCE and MSRIT have good placement rates with service-based companies and even product-based companies. However, tier-3 college placements would not be as good., Overall placement opportunities are more dependent on the college, and your skillset than the university.
