Dear aspirant,

As you haven't mentioned your category then i would be considering you as a general category and so fees structure is as follows:-

1- The tuition fees is 62500 and other expenses like Library fee, institute fee and others would be around 8000. So, total fee without hostel is 71k.

2- The hostel fees is around 30.5k . So total expenditure of per semester is around 100500.

Now if your family income comes under 5L then there are various remission for two categories and they are as follows:-

1- Family incomes below 1L will get full remission of tuition fees. They will have to pay 38k including hostel per semester.

2- Family income between 1L and 5L will get 2/3rd remission and they need to pay 58k per semester.

Good Luck!!

At 55769 OBC rank it is very difficult to get iiest shibpur as the cutoff to get iiest shibpur according to the latest cutoff trends is about 42000 so according to that it is very tough to get any seat at iiest shibpur but yes you can apply for csab counselling and see if you can just get into it if you are lucky enough also you can predict other colleges which you can  get by using this link

https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-college-predictor?icn=QnA&ici=qna_answer

I am assuming that you are from home state so as per the latest cutoff trends to get iiest shibpur you need about 53k rank for general female candidate so that amounts to a percentile greater than 94.8 percentile that will fetch you a rank which can just make you enter iiest shibpur also since you have mentioned that you are a ews candidate so consider a bit more relaxation but target yourself to get atleast 95%ile so that you can atleast enter iiest shibpur and for getting better branches you need to score higher percentile also you an predict your college using this link

Civil in iiiest shibpur is going to be a better choice as iiest has its own brand value while other institutes you have mentioned are nits but they are somewhat lower nits and do not have the same status that the other older nits carry on the other hand iiest shibpur s quite old and attracts brilliant minds from all over india also civil is not a very bad branch as people often think it to be so there no problem taking that also option of branch change is always there at your disposal

Hi,

IIEST SHIBPUR is one the top engineering institutes of the country. And electronics and telecommunication department is also among the best. About the college infrastructure, it is good enough to facilitate all the needs of students who stay here. The campus is huge, which includes two major grounds, one auditorium, a student activity centre, airy classrooms, well-equipped labs etc. Most of the campus area is Wi-Fi enabled. There are separate hostels for the students of different years with different room facilities. The mess offers a variety of food for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. They take good care of health and hygiene as well. There are lots of canteens as well which offer food at a very low cost and of good taste. Sports fest is conducted almost every month (sometimes in a week), and there is a club for almost every sport. There are several research area in this department like:

1 Communication and Signal processing
  • Wireless Ad-hoc and sensor networks
  • Cognitive Radio networks
  • Hardware efficient FIR filter design
  • Space-time coding for wireless communication
  • DSP algorithms
  • Design of CDMA spreading codes
  • Medical and satellite imaging
  • Sensor signal processing
  • Digital image processing
  • Fibre Optics based communication
2 Microelectronics, Devices and VLSI
  • Biosensors
  • MEMS based pressure and conductivity sensor
  • Nanostructured semiconducting metal oxides for sensor applications
  • Graphene and other 2 D materials for device applications
  • MEMS based gas sensors and its CMOS integration
  • Plasmonics and optical metamaterials
  • Analog VLSI Design
  • VLSI Architectures for Communication and Signal Processing Systems
  • CORDIC based DSP and DIP architectures
3 Microwave and Antenna
  • Planar circuit and antenna
  • Microwave avalanche devices
  • IMPATT amplifiers and oscillators
  • Meta-materials and its applications
  • Phased array antenna
  • Electromagnetic band-gap materials
  • Surface integrated waveguides (SIW)
  • RFID and its applications
  • Microstrip wearable and implantable antenna

Regarding placements, The placements are good enough. Almost 65-70% of students get placed every year. The highest package was offered by Microsoft (39 LPA) for 6 students, and the lowest package was offered by some of the mass recruiters like Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, etc., of 3.6 LPA. The average package was somewhere around 6 LPA. The top recruiting companies were Microsoft, Texas Instruments, PWC, ZS Associates etc. More than 50% of students grab internships in good companies like PWC, Microsoft, Texas etc. Some of the major roles offered are system engineer, VLSI design engineer, data scientist etc.

Hope it helps.

Both institutes have their own advantages and disadvantages at nit dgp you will get a nit tag plus opportunities of foreign internships since nit dgp has signed some mou's on the other hand at iiest shibpur you will get a better branch from software field prospective which may lead to better placements final decision is your's as both institutes are good on their own places choose wisely.

Hi

If you are already admitted to aerospace engineering in IIEST Shibpur, there is still a chance for a branch change to IT branch. You have to study diligently in the first year and have to score atleast above 9.0 CGPA in the semester exams to change your branch from second year onwards. Best of luck.

Hope it helps

Here mce at dtu is going to be a great choice in my opinion because of 2 reasons firstly because of the tag of dtu which in itself is a tag many people dream of having also it has the advantage of having a location base in delhi , the second reason is that mathematics and computing is a good branch and many tech companies hire such students also there is good coding culture in dtu which will improve your coding skills and you will get good placements if you work hard on the other hand  these advantages may not be there in iiest although it is also a good college.

Hi,

I hope you are doing well.

See both the institutes are of great repute and both of them are great. But if you need to distinguish then I would recommend you to go for the IIEST. The reason behind it because:

  • IIEST have better approach to research
  • IIEST offers slightly a better placement aspect
  • The packages in IIEST Shibpur is much better than that of NIT.
  • The faculties in IIEST are more into research.

College Infrastructure

Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology situated in Shibpur Having good infrastructure.Certainly lacks the facility & infrastructure of a top notch institute (refers to my dept.-archi), and heard a lot of complaints from my B.Tech friends about the placement department, which I presume is true to a large extent, although the new INI tag will be able to solve the problem, hopefully. But, students here get one hell of an experience of the hostel life, senior-junior relationship is something we learn to treasure and cherish.

Good college

College Infrastructure

Our college having great infrastructure with all the facilities are available. Library is very well maintained with all books and papers you need with space to study there as well. Hostels on the other hand really need serious maintainance. The food quality is very bad to average. Drinking water is not very good as well. There are no well made tables or chairs in hostels, you have to buy them on your own. For sports there are 2 big grounds where you can play cricket and football. There is separate court for basketball and one for badminton. Except these there isn't anything else in sports department.

It was pretty good experience.

College Infrastructure

Great Infrastructure but placements should be improved as there was no placement in 2020 for Applied Geology. I am pretty sure the engineering departments are very much good at infrastructure but the university authorities must pay attention t the science departments as well.
