ApplyRanked amongst top 3% universities globally (QS Rankings).
Hello Ruchita,
Yes, with a JEE Main rank of 11,200, you are eligible to participate in the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) 2025 counseling process. However, securing admission to IIIT Hyderabad through JoSAA may be challenging due to the institute's high cutoff ranks.
IIIT Hyderabad Admission through JoSAA:
Non-Participation in JoSAA: IIIT Hyderabad does not participate in the JoSAA counseling process. Instead, it conducts its own separate admissions process for B.Tech programs. Therefore, you cannot secure admission to IIIT Hyderabad through JoSAA, regardless of your JEE Main rank.
Alternative Admission Route to IIIT Hyderabad:
Direct Admission: IIIT Hyderabad offers direct admission to B.Tech programs based on JEE Main scores. You can apply through their official admissions portal, provided you meet their eligibility criteria.
Eligibility Criteria for Direct Admission:
JEE Main Score: You must have a valid JEE Main score.
Class 12 Marks: You should have obtained at least 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in your Class 12 examination.
Application Process:
Visit the Official Portal: Go to the IIIT Hyderabad admissions portal.
Register: Create an account and fill in the required details.
Submit Documents: Upload necessary documents, including your JEE Main scorecard and Class 12 marksheet.
Application Fee: Pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs. 2,500.
Important Notes:
No Category-wise Reservation: IIIT Hyderabad does not have category-wise reservation; admissions are purely based on merit.
Separate Admission Process: Ensure you follow the specific admission process outlined by IIIT Hyderabad, as it differs from JoSAA counseling.
For detailed information and updates, regularly check the IIIT Hyderabad official admissions portal.

Hello Mr. Bini,
Considering your son's rank in JEE Main (3715 in General category, Maharashtra), here below is the categorization that might help you narrow down the options:
CSE in NIT Calicut (or Other NITs):
ECE in IIIT Hyderabad:
ECE in NIT Warangal/Surathkal/Trichy/Rourkela:
If the emphasis is on core tech roles and software engineering, get him a place in CSE at a top NIT (ideally Trichy, Warangal, or Surathkal). If there is a willingness to accept a comprehensive, research-based academic program, with future scope in core tech, AI or higher studies, then ECE at IIIT Hyderabad could be the best long term option. Do not opt for lower-tier NITs if you can get him into one of these higher tier institutes.
Yes, you can potentially leave IIIT Hyderabad after completing the BTech portion of the integrated program, but you may not receive a BTech degree. The specific details depend on the admission route (LEEE or UGEE) and the IIIT Hyderabad regulations.
LEEE Admission:
If you were admitted through LEEE (Lateral Entry Entrance Examination), which allows direct entry into the second year of the BTech program, you are eligible to leave after completing the BTech requirements without pursuing the MS program.
UGEE Admission:
If you were admitted through UGEE (Undergraduate Entrance Examination) and choose to leave after completing the BTech, you may still be awarded a BTech degree, but you would not be able to pursue the MS portion of the dual degree.
IIIT Hyderabad Regulations:
It's crucial to check the specific regulations of IIIT Hyderabad regarding the dual-degree program, as they may have specific rules about exiting after completing the BTech, as noted in the dual-degree program information from the IIIT Hyderabad website.
Dual Degree Benefits:
A dual degree (BTech + MS) is generally considered to have better career prospects than a standalone BTech degree from IIIT Hyderabad.
With an 88 percentile in the EWS category, it's highly unlikely you'll secure admission to IIIT Hyderabad through the JEE Main channel. IIIT Hyderabad typically accepts candidates with ranks far higher than what an 88 percentile would correspond to (often in the top few thousand, whereas 88 percentile might be around rank 1.2–1.5 lakh) .
Hello Komal,
With an 88 percentile in JEE Main under the EWS category, your estimated All India Rank (AIR) is approximately 12,000 . Admission to the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad is primarily based on JEE Main scores. In 2024, the closing ranks for various courses were:
Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
: Ranks between
866
and
1687
.
Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) : Ranks between 2136 and 4606 .
Given your estimated rank, it's unlikely to secure admission to CSE or ECE at IIIT Hyderabad. However, you might consider other IIITs where the closing ranks are higher. For instance,
IIITM Gwalior
had closing ranks of
935
for EWS candidates in 2022.
Additionally, explore other engineering colleges and consider alternative courses or specializations that align with your interests and rank.

The infrastructure is pretty good. They have good classrooms and really good facilities at the lab. The college has a great research culture, with a huge chunk of money being invested in research labs. The Wi-Fi facilities are not that good, and the network is not that good. Also, all classrooms are not air-conditioned. The hostels are also pretty good. But there's one issue with hostels, which is drinking water. It has happened many times that drinkable water is not available on many floors. Also, the lift does not work properly and gets stuck many times.
The infrastructure is amazing. We have spacious classrooms. Laboratory is well-maintained. Sports facilities are also good. LAN is also provided in every classroom. It provides a good library. Our campus is Wi-Fi-enabled. Canteen facility is also good.
our college have all neccessary infrastructure, facilities and equipments.there are sports centres also in my college which can give students additional opportunities for their skills.college hostels have wifi systems all over it.
