Hello,

Congratulations on getting such good college and branch options. I will give you a preference list which will comprise of all these factors:

  • Overall ranking
  • Infrastructure
  • Location/accessibility
  • Branch that you are been offered(Core/interdisciplinary)
  • Placement opportunities
  • Industry Exposure

The preference order you should consider is:

  1. Chemical Engineering at NIT Durgapur
  2. Metallurgy at IIEST Shibpur
  3. Metallurgy at NIT Durgapur

As a branch considering the current scenario and employability status I would suggest going for Chemical than Metallurgy because of the following factors:

  1. Less Competition
  2. More opportunities
  3. More PSU recruitments
  4. Wide options to go interdisciplinary
  5. Huge scope for PhD abroad

I would also like to add here that an engineering course should be very much taken with an interest in the field so I would suggest you to consider that factor and if you are not aware of the branches mentioned look them up on the internet more reliable will be to go through the syllabus on the respective colleges' website. An interest in the field is the key factor in deciding how your $ years of college will be and what opportunities you will land for yourself.

Good luck, hope it helps!!

Hi,

Usually the Income certificate is issued on the name of the person who earns money. The certificate would have name of your father or mother, whoever earns more money. The Certificate has family income that will include earnings from all of the members of family.

I hope this will answer your query .

Thanks!!!!

Hello aspirant,

Great to knew that according to previous cut-offs you have various options to choose from.

As your 1st priority is ECE I would discuss regarding this branch only on your mentioned NIT's.

As you may know, NIT Nagaland, Sikkim, Mizoram & Meghalaya were comparatively newly established, I would rate these NITs a bit lower than the other two NITs due to their lack of infrastructure and established alumni network. They are in their infant stages only, thus I would take them out of the discussion.

Now comes the other two NITs Agartala and Srinagar, while Srinagar was earlier an RIT and thus always was a premier institute of India. Agartala is also a fairly old institute established in the 50s and 60s. They have a very established campus and alumni network. NIT Agartala has many new investments in infrastructures.

I would suggest you to choose any of them according to your residence as if you were in East side you can choose NIT AGARTALA or if you belongs to Northern side choose NIT SRINAGAR.

To know your other chances through JOSSA & State level Government & private colleges, You can use the JEE Main College Predictor tool given below.

Hi,

IIEST is a reputed institute so do NIT Rourkela is. According to Data available , Nearly 80-90% students gets placed during placement times with average placement Ranging around 5-6 Lakhs. NIT Rourkela do have similar Placement record. But if you look Career Oppurtunities in India, ECT has better placements Oppurtunities than Chemical Engineering. The Average package of ECT is more than Chemical generally.

So, according to me IIEST shibpur would be good choice .

Thanks!!!!

Hello Aspirant,

Hope you are doing well.

The MAT is typically administered four times a year in February, May, September, and December. MAT candidates must have completed their bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university, or an equivalent degree recognised by the test organisation. Students in their final year of any undergraduate programme (e.g., B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.Tech., etc.) are eligible to appear provisionally.

A minimum percentage requirement for graduation is usually set by the MI or the university, and this percentage requirement varies from one MI or university to another. For further information, consult the prospectus of the specific MIs/University.

Hope you got the answer to your question. Incase of any queries, feel free to question. Have a great day!

hello,

You cannot gent into government colleges like NIT,IIT,IIIT with out Jee. They are central government colleges so if you want to get into those colleges you must clear the Jee. you can get into government colleges like state colleges with writing the exam conducted by the state government like eamcet, upcet, tscet, like that. so You must write the exam conducted by the state government to get into state colleges.

hope you are clear.

thankyou.

I would advise you to join ETC at IIEST Shibpur and prefer it above EE. ETC has Placements at par with IT and CSE and much better than EE. Secondly, ETC is a really nice branch with balanced Academic Load, you can pursue your interests be it Data Science, GATE/CAT Preparation or be it Research. Secondly 3 Departments of IIEST , namely CSE, ETC and Metallurgy have very strong tie ups with IIT Kharagpur, and you may easily go for Projects and Internships throughout your stay at IIEST. Secondly, ETC or somewhat ECE at many other Colleges have excellent career scope and prospects in the Private, Public as well as Research Sector, and in a vital stream when you talk of Robotics, Electronic Materials or Industry 4.0

Hi,

I hope you are doing well.

IIEST for btech mechanical engineering is a good choice. It has a overall student rating of 4.1/5 and has good positive reviews as well.

Just a slight drawback is that students have mentioned that the campus is old and infrastructure has not been very upto the mark but other than this the college offers wonderful qualitative education to its students, many students have said that it is a good place to gain knowledge as they have experienced and qualified lecturers in their own areas.

Above 75-80% of students gets placed in the placement cell of institution. The highest package offered recently in this course was 11 lakhs per annum to a student and lowest package was around 2-3 lakhs per year.

On average students get placed with a salary of 5-7 lakhs per annum.

Top companies like Tata steel, Daikin, etc take part in the placement cell of the college and are the major recruiters.

Students are also provided with internship opportunities.

Therefore, it is a good college for one wanting to pursue btech in mechanical engineering.

I hope the above information helps.
All the very best.

College Infrastructure

Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology situated in Shibpur Having good infrastructure.Certainly lacks the facility & infrastructure of a top notch institute (refers to my dept.-archi), and heard a lot of complaints from my B.Tech friends about the placement department, which I presume is true to a large extent, although the new INI tag will be able to solve the problem, hopefully. But, students here get one hell of an experience of the hostel life, senior-junior relationship is something we learn to treasure and cherish.

Good college

College Infrastructure

Our college having great infrastructure with all the facilities are available. Library is very well maintained with all books and papers you need with space to study there as well. Hostels on the other hand really need serious maintainance. The food quality is very bad to average. Drinking water is not very good as well. There are no well made tables or chairs in hostels, you have to buy them on your own. For sports there are 2 big grounds where you can play cricket and football. There is separate court for basketball and one for badminton. Except these there isn't anything else in sports department.

It was pretty good experience.

College Infrastructure

Great Infrastructure but placements should be improved as there was no placement in 2020 for Applied Geology. I am pretty sure the engineering departments are very much good at infrastructure but the university authorities must pay attention t the science departments as well.
