Dear Anu, there might be many reasons involved into getting a placement structure in any College/Institution. It is a collaboration between the Institute involved and the Companies. The Companies should have requirements for the positions or projecta that they want to hire candidates in. Only those companies which jave requirement in that field will come for Placements. But for that they will need projects. Though there are positions available, the students should have acheived the CGPA target set by the Companies. For example, ISRO used to recruit M.Tech Candidates directly in the beginning. Slowly they introduced the CGPA ratings as in there is a particular CGPA that you need to score if you want to get into ISRO. They started it with 6.5 and now it is around 7.5 CGPA if you want to be considered by ISRO. Sometimes the Placement cell fails to draw recruiters for placements. So we cannot point out one reason as why there have been no placements. Having said that, opportunities in India for Material Science are less. Thise companies which have Space and Science projects hire candidates on a need basis.
Hey Kartheek,
If you want to get admission in IIST then you will have to qualify the JEE Advanced with a better rank. You will get IIST if your rank lies between 3000 to 4000 in general category. The marks required to get this much rank range varies on yearly basis and depends upon the candidate's performance in JEE Advanced examination.
I hope you have got the point.
Good luck !
Hello Somnath,
Yes, BTech final year students should be able to apply for MTech offered by IIST as the official website clearly mentions that Students who are completing their qualifying degree programme in 2018-19 will have to provide the consolidated mark list/mark lists of all semesters along with Provisional/Degree Certificate on or before October 31, 2019 which means it should not say that you are not eligible. Do check it provides graduating year like 2018-19 instead of 2019.
Hope this answers your query, feel free to ask for more info.
In case you have not got top IITs and NITs, yes it is good.
At IIST all professors are very well qualified and even few are scientist. you will get happiness when you will get the exposure to space knowledge, innovative discussion and diversity in culture. Apart from this, you will get exposure to ISRO real time projects, which will really help you if you are research oriented. Even they have labs better than IITs and NITs.
However, there are few drawbacks also. The first one is placements, but they are working to improve it. It is located far away from the city and in hills, but it can be seen as a plus point because you will get the atmosphere free from the pollution.
Hello Onkar,
I would like to say that, in any institute or college you may study, because every institutes have their own way of teaching, but if you want to know exactly that which is better, then you should ask the individuals who is or who was studying in that institute.
You should focus on yourself and your study.
Thanks for query on this platform, you may visit again for further queries.
All the best.
