Hi Nikhil,
If you opt for CSE in new IITs, the benefit is that you'll be studying CSE- the most sought after branch, because of higher job opportunities and packages. If you study sincerely for 4 years, you'll be placed in a good company. But that will be the case only if you are genuinely interested in CSE. Keep that in mind.
The infrastructure in new IITs(especially bhilai or goa, which don't have proper campus of its own), isn't remotely as par as the already well established IITs.
New IITs, also don't have placement data, so you don't even know how many companies are approaching the campus for placement.
New IITs don't have adequate no. of professors, as that in old IITs.
You won't be able to enjoy campus life as well as in the newly established IITs, as in the old IITs. Old IITs conduct huge fests, through out the year.
Also, there is a branch change rule which allows students to change their branch from one stream to other(like from Civil to CSE), based upon your performance in first year of college. This option isn't that reliable as you'll be competing against iitians, and cut-offs for branch change may go upto 9.8 in some cases. I'd suggest reading the branch change rules of the IITs, from their respective websites.
Thank you.
No, as of my knowledge and iit guwahati official website , there was no spot round conducted for M.tech . Although spot round did happen for M.tech EC in the year 2017. So there is not much clarity if spot round will happen this year or not. You may keep checking the website for new updates. Thankyou
hey supravat .
i dont think there will be much changes in the eligibilty criteria other than mentioned in iit jam website however some changes still can occur because a college can have its own rules apart from the mentioned one . so it would be better to visit the offficial website of the college for overall details
visit the iitg officail website
Hello Ashish,
Specific last year cutoffs for VLSI and Communications are not available. For cutoffs of the 2017 year, you can use below link
https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/gate-cutoff-iit-guwahati
These cutoffs are based on no. of students applying for counseling. But the most important thing now is to check if you are eligible to apply for counseling.
According to the official site, the score required to be shortlisted for counseling for SC category should be equal to or more than 400 for communication as well as VLSI course.
for more information visit http://www.iitg.ac.in/eee/admission2019/MTech/Qualifying.pdf
Good Luck!!
Hello,
If you compare the above two colleges then I would say that you should always go for Iit guwahati as it has better reputation than Nits.
Also the placements and the infrastructure is better here.
So doing Mtech VLSI from Iit Guwahati would be a better choice.
Best Wishes
Hello Ashish,
I am here to help you with your query.
Both the colleges has got same rating of 4.4.
Both has got major similarities.
But NIT has been established before since 1964.
Placement wise and college wise NIT Trichy has got better opportunities for students to offer at.
You can still browse at our website about these two colleges to get more information.
If you want fortl have IIT tag then go for guwahati IIT
If you are basically concerned about only placements then NIT is best option for you .
For more queries do comment below.
Good luck.
Hello Yogesh,
There are decent chances of getting a seat in M.tech in above colleges, till now you have not been called because most of the higher marks candidate have already reserved the seat, they may go for PSUs and PSUs result are out mostly in july ,so then they will leave the seat,so till then you have to wait.As per your marks you have decent score for getting admission ,so you will be called in 4th or 5th round of COAP. You may also check the link below for cutoffs of previous and other details. I hope it helped.

Hi,
According to 2018 placement reports, chemical engineering has a 6.5 average package and it fluctuates evry year between 6 to 7 lac
For Civil Engineering, the average lies between 6.6 to 7 lpa approx.
These figures vary every year on the basis of the companies coming in to recruit the students,so keep this in mind while deciding.
We have the best infrastructure, the classrooms are really big that can accomodate 80 students easily and also lecture halls of capacity 200. There are well equiped laboratories. Library is very large containing more than 50000 books. The mess maintainance and food are very hygenic.
impressive infrastructure , vibrant academics environment , modern classrooms with advanced technology , well stocked libraries , sports are best , hostel are good . the infrastructure significantly enhances the educational experiences.
Infrastructure is really good; at most places, you will get Wi-Fi. The library is also excellent. It's very comfortable reading in the library. The classroom is good, facilities are good—everything is good. In the hostel, you will get sufficient washing machines and a water cooler on each floor.
