This is a publicly funded institute which offers courses under engineering, science, Technology, Management and Humanities streams. Institute is located in Rourkela city of Odisha. The University offers a total of 101 programmes which includes undergraduate, postgraduate, Doctoral and dual degree programmes. The Institute is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in India and has been recognise as an Institute of national importance by the National institutes of Technology act, 2007. The Institute established in 1961 is now having 1200 acres of urban campus with modern facilities. Recently the Institute has secured 15th rank in National Institute Rankings Framwork (NIRF).

Looking at the [previous year JEE mains cutoff for NIT Rourkela, and with the above mentioned rank in SC category in Home state male, you have very difficult chances of getting Any branches as even for lower ranked branches (like mining, ceramic engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, etc) the closing cutoff for Sc category is around 5k-7k. So going for any core branches (like CSE, ECE, EEE, etc) with the above mentioned rank in SC category is also difficult.

So ultimately it will be very difficult for you to get any branches in NIT warangal with this rank in SC category. But do not worry as you may get some lower ranked NIT in this rank.

Yes. During admittance, you can alter it using internal sliding. You can choose 12 branches to fill, with the 12th branch being the one you're getting (M sc.). The list and your rank may affect how your branch is determined. You'll apply for admission as an M.Sc. candidate. The institute publishes the outcome of internal sliding after about a month. Yes, according to the internal sliding policy of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela you can change your branch or department from any to any after the second semester of your studies, provided you score a minimum of above 8.5 CGPA after the two semesters, and clear the cut-off among all the students who applied for branch change.
