Hello Lrp,

According to what I believe, IITs are superior than NITs being different in the following ways:

Global Recognition of Brand IITs:  IITs have always featured in the global chart of engineering colleges from India whereas NITs do not appear in the same list.

Better Student Quality in IITs: Higher cut-off marks during selection process at IITs draw better quality of students in IITs rather than NITs. Superior student intake results into excellent placement for IITians.

Better Faculty in IITs : IITs have one of the best engineering faculty in India. However IITs established recently, are undergoing a terrible shortage of faculty. IIT-Hyderabad has a requirement of 85 faculty members while it currently has 74 faculty members.

IIT-Bhubaneswar has total 50 faculty members against its requirement of 62 members. Owing to this serious concern, most IITs have already started aggressive communication campaigns across the country to reach out to post docs and graduate students of top universities worldwide. NITs have also been facing shortage of quality faculty for a while now.

Stronger Academic Collaboration in IITs : IITs undertake greater number of projects with esteemed institutions like ISRO, DRDO, BARC etc.  NITs research work is not at the same magnitude of IITs.

Better Infrastructure at IITs: IITs have better Infrastructure with spacious campus, good research labs etc. The popularity of IITs among Engineering aspirants is highly driven by its educational and college environment. The ambience of IITs campus is both inspiring and vibrating with perfectly planned and aligned layout for the whole campus, libraries, and hostels.

NITs are definitely second to IITs in terms of infrastructure. They also have great computing facilities.

Better Placements at IITs: Top Notch companies prefer IITians over NITians and also salaries offered are well differentiated. Going through last 5 years placement records of both, the average pay package offered to any IITian (B.Tech) is anywhere between Rs 43,750 and 48,000 monthly compared with average pay package offered to any student from NIT in (B.Tech) which is anywhere between Rs 40,000 and 42,000 monthly. However, there is a lot of variance among the salary packages depending on ability of candidates and academic performances.

Conclusion:

The Indian Institutes of Technology remain a top brand, but their standing as centres of excellence can no longer be stated as convincingly with inclusion of new IITs. The brand has also taken a hit with the increase in the number of IITs. There is a definite distinction between the “new” and “old” IITs.

The demographic dividend and our target of achieving 30% enrolment in higher education till 2020 implies that we should not have just some IITs in order to cash in on IIT brand name. The lack of domestic competition has resulted in depreciation in the output of the IITs both in terms of research output and overall grooming of the students. The core industry demands have remained low which has resulted in engineering students from IIT & NIT ending up as investment bankers and management consultants. The big packages that IITians bag every year is just one side of the story.

The other side of the story is the IITs enjoy media publicity images for the proliferation of entrepreneurs out of IITs. Overall, brand IIT, though still on a high pedestal, is on the way downhill. We need to make NITs more strong in terns of faculty, infrastructure and placement so that NITs give IITs a run for the much applauded IIT BRAND.

Hello dear!!!

NIT warangal is one of the top most Nits available in India. And with a category rank of 13215 you may not get seat in core branches but there are many possibilities of you getting a seat in NIT warangal but in non core branches like food technolgy or fashion technolgy etc. I hope this helps

Thank you

Hi aspirant,
Based on previous records you dont any chance of getting a seat in NIT warangal. But you can predict your chances of having any other government college or private one using a predictor tool, link for the same is given below-

Hope you are clear with it.

Hii.
Your rank is too high to get a seat in NIT Warangal.
Instead of that you should try in your state level engineering college you will definitely benefited there.
Thanku.
All the best.

Dear Aspirant, hope you are doing well. Sorry to disappoint you but at this percentile your AIR might be around 100k. So at this rank it is not possible to get into NIT Warangal or be it any NIT unless and until if you belong to home state category of north eastern NITS. You can try for private colleges which accept the jee mains score like Nirma University, Sastra University, Thapar University etc. Hope it helps!! Good luck!!

Hello,
It will be very tough to get into NIT Warangal with this rank. It is one of the best NITs in India and generally gets filled very quickly. It is highly in demand and even it's lower branches like metallurgy gets filled rather quickly. With your rank, I don't see you getting a seat in NIT Warangal with other state or even home state quota for OBC student. You should try for other colleges. You chances of getting a NIT and IIIT is very very low as these mostly gets closed around 20k OBC rank.
I still hope for your best and I am attaching an article for you to check cutoffs of NIT Warangal for better judgement.NIT-W cutoff 2018.
Hope it helps.
Thanks

Hello,

With regret I would like to inform you that with this percentile you didn't clear the cut-off in general category so you are not eligible for the counselling into any NIT's hence not eligible for NIT Warangal even in the OBC Category . I apologize if you get offended . You can check last years cut-offs below :-

I would suggest uh to please update ur aadhar card to ur current state address !! Because u have dont 12th from this address

Hi,

Short answer: Yes. If you are getting mining/Meta at NITK, or any B.Tech program for that matter, grab it with both hands.

Long answer:

I will infer from the wording of your question that you have no particular interest in mining/meta.

Practically speaking, after your entrance exams, you don't really know much about any branch. I cannot speak for Mining, but the Meta course at least is quite different compared to what you might expect. The only knowledge you have of this branch is (I assume) from the Metallurgy chapter which you had to study for your boards. The branch is quite different. Its full name is actually Metallurgy and Materials Sciences and focuses more on materials than metallurgy. For example, one of the courses which seems very interesting to me in the second year syllabus is the course on X-Ray Crystallography-essentially bouncing X-Rays of materials to figure out what they look like inside. Just try the branch. I'm sure you will like it.

If you don't like your branch, here's what you can do:

Mining especially has a low workload. Meta has an average number of hours per week-some sems have more and some less (for example, 3rd sem has 21 hours/week while 4th sem has 35 hrs/week). Since you are interested in some other branch, you can use this free time to pursue your interest in it by means of online courses or the like.

Also, NITK is a great college. You will get opportunities here which you will not get anywhere else. Placements for all branches are good-for example, one Meta student got a 25lpa package this year. You can get jobs in ISRO and DRDO as a meta student. If none of this sounds appealing, you can always go for an MBA after you graduate.

Hello,

You have got quite a good category rank in JEE Mains 2019 . But according to previous year statistics you are not eligible for admission into NIT Warangal for any stream because all the stream closes at rank of OBC-NCL 5000 . You can confirm it by checking previous year statistics :-
