PEC Chandigarh Reviews on Infrastructure, Campus, Placement, Facilities & Faculty

I an writing to express my disappointment about infra of our college. Firstly talking about infra of lecture halls, for first year classes are conducted in NAB which is well furnished, air conditioned, and required thing for teaching in excellent way is available there but 2nd year classes are conducted in branch department which are not up to the mark and even lack basic infra, same is condition of labs and hostels, mess. Mac labs are available but not in working state.

I am studying in electrical engineering here because of my interest and obviously because high placements of CSE,EE,ECE,in PEC, talking about curriculum its not updated at all and quality of teachers is also not that good, I will its same in every college like IITs,NITs etc so I will not complaint about it ,as at the end most students want to take placements in software companies, academics of college doesn't effect overall growth of college.

This part is that makes PEC a legendary college and different from NITs,placements her are something necxt level, you will surely get a high paying placement if you are in circuital branch in pec, and placements in non circuitalare also better than colleges availabe at same or even better rank,On-campus HIghest offered package was 84LPA, which was offered to 5 students.Companies like Microsoft,Apple,Adobe,Amazon regularly visit campus,Average package was around 16.9LPA overall.

Read it carefully before joining PEC, I wanna explain this deeply, As NITs and IITs offer scholarship for students having weak economic background, but in PEC this is different, PEC doesn't offer any economic based scholarship by its own,PEC alumni network is rich and they fund students having low income, but that number students are around 2-3 in every branch,per year cost is around 3L,and Chandigarh being expensive that too adds,but its completely worth it, recovered in 1 year of placements.

PEC's own campus life is not that crazy, but its location is what make one's college life unmatchable, Everything you can imagine is available under 5km radius, like Mohali cricket , clubs etc, other emergency things like hospitals, police stations are highly serviceable, PGI shares wall with PEC ,so no worries about healthcare ,students are highly career focused and enjoy their life to fullest at same time, 4 years will pass like 4hrs in this college

Overall everything is great in this college,PEC should improve hostels and infrastructure of classes and labs.Alumni network is very helpful and seniors are always there for help. Overall you will find yourself lucky for choosing over an NIT

College infra is very bad, this is part where PEC lags the most and you will find its NIRF ranking falling, all the departments are built very old, there is only one new building named NAB where classes of first year are held, NAB has every basic facility for modern day teaching including smartboards, air conditioning and everything, but core labs, department classes are very very old, food is now improving earlier it was very poor

Very poor academics same like other tier 1 govt colleges this may be a positive thing for students like they get too much free time for extra activities, cheating is very common in this college, No one can even pass exams if cheating gets stopped in PEC , so sharpen your cheating skills before coming PEC, reason I will be writing in anonymously ,PEC,s system is just off route.

The best and the only best part in PEC, this is the only reason for what it gets compared with IITs many time, Average for CSE is 25LPA,Overall average of college is 16.7LPA so you can see how much balanced placements are there for every branch, for EE its 15 LPA, ECE 18LPA

TOO much expensive as compared to facilities provided, Lum Sum every year fee is around 3.5L , in which hostels fee is 80k(NITs have 20k only)still mess fee is not included in it , its around 3700 separately, but placements are very high so I think its worth it

Campus life is very good, pec's own campus is very old but its location is making its campus life really great and joyfull, many gardens ,lakes,Malls, Clubs are available nearby, Hospitals and police stations are in radius of 1km so every service is available very rapidly

Great experience till now

It has almost every necessary facilities but those are very old and not up to date. Overall facilities in NAB classrooms are good but in branch departments there are no proper facilities like air conditioning ,smartboards etc. Wifi speed is high but coverage is not good. Talking about hostels, PEC is building new hostels that are like hotels ,but that are too limited and old hostels are like not liveable ,but you have live in them no option, mess food is improving and students can change menu.

I am from electrical branch, quality of teaching is poor, most of the students are dependent on youtube lectures, but this is condition of every top college of India so I will not complain about it. Curriculum is also old, These studies will never make you job ready, for every college in India you have to study from online courses or youtube,so same is the condition of PEC no difference.

Placements of this year are really outstanding, even branches like meta are having median around 8LPA, production with 9LPA average,CSE have 25LPA average,ECE has 18LPA average, EE has 15LPA average, Apple visit this college regularly,mentioning apple because it don't even visit some IITs, so you can imagine the placements level of this college.

Really expensive for a middle class general student, only 2% students get income based scholarships, that too students have fake income certificates, so you will not get any scholarship, fee is around 3.3L per year, so if you are getting a top NIT like Jaipur, Allahabad, I will prefer you to go there.

Campus life depends on person to person, if you have money to spend than PEC's life is great because of it's location, Chandigarh is heaven but you will have to manage your career with chilling life of PEC, otherwise things will get harder and harder for you. Chandigarh being best planned city of India ,PGI(2nd best ranked hospital of India after AIIMS Delhi)touches boundary of PEC,4 Specialty Hospitals in radius of 5km,clubs,malls,police station eveything is near about PEC

Overall I found it better than NITs ,only and only if you can afford it's expenses, otherwise going NITs will give you 5-6% less placements than PEC but those are really affordable.

Since it's a Govt college so definitely it is value for money

This is the most negative part of this college, infra level is not upto the mark, for first year classes are held in NAB which has good infra and every resource for a modern-day lecture requirement, but 2nd year onwards classes are conducted in old departments in which many are not air-conditioned,classes,labs are very old,I am giving it 3/5 because PEC have ECE and seimens EE labs(really next level),for mess and hostels, it will take time for adjustment but you will start loving it.

I am in electrical, though academics of this college are really poor, this scenario is with most of the IITs and NITs and PEC is at the same level as them, the thing is no one here cares much about academics, 8CG is a bar for placements and most of the students study 1 week before to cross it, at the end placements matter, students spend more time on learning required skills rather than old curriculum academics for a better career, and I believe this is the best pf tier-1 colleges.

You can say PEC is a placements machine, Overall Average package this year is 16.9 LPA, For CSE 25LPA, For ECE 18.3LPA,For EE 15.2LPA, you can calculate for others too by overall package, Highest on campus was 84LPA given to 6 students, Off-campus highest was 1.5CPA, Elite Companies like Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, etc visit campus almost every year, so you can get an assured placement once you enter a circuital branch in PEC(you have to work hard, students are very competitive in nature).

See compared to NITs this is a very expensive college, as for general students this college doesn't have income-based scholarships(PEC mentions 2% of students on the website but that is just negligible, students make fake certificates and really needy students never get any benefit, reason I will write it anonymously),Cost will be around 3.5L/year including everything, its expensive but you will cover whole 4-year feel in 1 year of placements that PEC provide so it is completely worth as of now.

If you can manage PEC's Chandigarh College life, then it is heaven and if you can't that will be hell for you.PEC's own campus literally has nothing inside it, but here comes its location, it is in the main centre of Chandigarh, and everything is available in a radius of 10km, including hospitals, clubs, pubs, stadium, cinemas, malls, libraries, gardens, lakes, hills everything, you will get a peak to enjoy of your life in PEC for sure(again only if you balance it with career building).

Overall it's a great college, If you find the right friends, it will give you everything, it all depends on you and how you utilize that.

This is a hundred year old college with many buildings that have not been updated since decades. Due to which this college lacks in infrastructure. Also being a GFTI ,this college receives very little funding due to which very little developments occour in this college. but on a positive side , some new buildings like NAB and SIEMENS LAB have been developed

Faculty of this college are highly experienced with degrees from esteemed organisations like IITS .There are many good professors with some exception which is always there in all engineering colleges. Curriculum is updated and is at par with IITS

Placements of PEC is the only factor which makes you comfortable to choose it. The placements of the coolege are outstanding with average package of CSE at 25 lakhs which makes it a competitor with IITS in placements. IF you are placement oriented, this college is for you. More than 90 percent of students are placed that were eligible for placements

This college will cost you about 12 lakhs for the full degree along with hostel fees and is neither very high and nor very low. But the placements you get here are very awesome due to which it is worth your money

Pec has a large campus with various sports facilities ,grounds, Gymnaseum, Auditorium . There are various clubs and societies that one can join according to their interest and explore new fields .PEC provides a scope for a high overall development.

This college has a pretty decent college life and you will have a good placement after your 4 years. Also living in Chandigarh is add on which makes your college life great. But its only advised to come here if you wish for placements but in other aspects ,you may not find it so interesting.

Best decision of my life

The college infrastructure is improving, the Aravali hostels are in a bad state, and the admin building is not painted. The buildings which are new are very good. There is no CCTV in the old academic block. CCtvs are there in the new academic block.

I am studying mechanical engineering. The relative grading system is killing the college. But the curriculum is always updated in accordance with industry standards. The faculty is good. But there is a shortage of staff in labs. Labs are not good, many of the boilers don't work. A lot of improvement is needed in labs.

The college stands out in placement. I am personally assured that the college placement gives excellent job opportunities for the core as well as circuital branches. The placements are equivalent to mediocre IITs and the top NITs. The average package for the mechanical branch for the year 2023 is 12-13 lacs per annum.

It is a government college so the fee is reasonable Rs 86000 / semester. I will graduate in 2025. I feel it is value for money as placements are excellent.

Campus life is only good during fests and events. Rest of the time it feels more like school.

If you want to have good placements, this is one of the best colleges. If you want to have campus life, I will not recommend this college. If you want to clear GATE, this college is good as teachers cover the syllabus.

Talking about the infrastructure it's little bit in the older side but have to keep in mind the college is 100 years old . The New Academic Section is amazingly built beside Nescafe . Being a student of Mechanical engineering, the respective block is very old but PG block is newly built with advance labs installed in it. Talking about the labs , they are descent but not upto the mark if compared to modern generation. Wifi network is okayish and smart boards are installed in every classroom.

The quality of teaching with respect to mechanical I would say it's very good . Mechanical is also the one of the first two branches of the college. But the curriculum is little bit outdated focusing more on theoretical knowledge rather than practical work.Some of the teachers are not adopting the modern style of teaching making the subject boring at times.

Placement has been one of the shining features of the college. Companies like apple, microsoft,Paytm,uber visit the college. Talking specifically about core , the placement is descent with students placed in companies like Mahindra, maruti suzuki,Mercedes.Avg package with respect to mechanical is around 10lpa but the package is increasing everyyear.Highest salary offered till date is 85 lakhs .

The fee structure is ridiculous out here both academics and hostel. Specially the hostel fee , with the amount we are paying the facilities are not at that level . Food is also average.I would recommend PG if anyone can afford.

One of the negative point I would like to share is the 50 percent state quota which creates a barrier between homestate and outside state students. Plus most of the students are from Northern part of India decreasing the diversity.Apart from that the campus life is descent ,the most amazing thing is that College is located in Chandigarh hence students can enjoy the life of chandigarh pretty well.Students are always engaging themselves in different activities.

If someone joins the college solely on the basis of placement then it won't be a regretful decision but yes if one joins expecting diverse culture then it won't be a wise decision. The alumini network is very great out here because of which students are also placed out of their recommendations.

it has the necessary facilities, infrastructure, and equipment. it has 6 hostels with wifi connectivity and other required amenities like indoor sports, television, laundry, water purifiers. it also has a central library with a collection of115452 volumes.

I'm studying bachelor in technology in electrical engineering in pec. the quality of teaching is just fine. labs are well equipped and the curriculum is updated every year which includes all the recent development in the fiels

the placement rate in pec is quite high, be it circuital or non-circuital branches. the top recruiters include Microsoft, RBS, Goldman Sachs, NXP, JP Morgan, and many more. to enhance the process, summer internships and placement drives are also conducted.
