Chandigarh University Admissions 2025
ApplyRanked #1 Among all Private Indian Universities in QS Asia Rankings 2025 | Scholarships worth 210 CR
Hello
You have mentioned your crl but what is obc rank.
This is important because your admission in josaa counselling is through your category rank dear and not CRL rank
It's quite difficult to predict because cutoff keeps changing every year depending upon various factors like :-
******number of students that appeared in the jee main exam,
****** number of available seats,
****** performance of different students in the examination,
****** the category you belong etc.
But yes,
When we go through previous year trend then
In 6th round of josaa counselling 2020,
----------) Under other state, 16898 obc rank for gender female was cut /closing rank for NIT Surat and it was for mechanical engineering .
So, you have chances in NIT Surat only if your OBC category rank is around at least 16000 otherwise your chances are low
You can check the same at
https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx
This prediction is on the past year data basis but cut closing rank for colleges changes every year depending upon factors like number of candidates that write jee main examination, difficulty level of the question paper for different shifts of jee main etc so
To have a personalised report on your chances of getting a college you can go through our college predictor, it will give you complete list of colleges which you can get on the basis of the category you belong to, your home state, your gender etc, the link for jee main college predictor is provided below

Thank you
Hello..
Let me start by clearing a point. Before going to choose any college, sort out the branch you are interested in. Because this make your task easy.
Now coming to the colleges
Both the colleges have good infrastructure and facilities. So, If you are willing to join IT companies then choose CSE because it has much preference. Check the student reviews for more data..

Hope this helps...
From Placement, Campus Life Aspect : NIT Jamshedpur
From Faculty, Research, Infrastructure Aspect : SVNIT Surat
Both are good NITs, I would suggest you to choose the One at your Vicinity. If Placement is your Only Concern, I believe NIT Jamshedpur is the better of two, with nearly 90-100% Placements for Mechanical Each Year, being located in the Eastern Manufacturing and Technology Hub of India.

You cannot really compare CSE at SVNIT Surat to VNIT Nagpur CSE, on grounds of Faculty, Infrastructure and Research Facilities. The Only advantage VNIT has over SVNIT, is a huge locational advantage, being located near IT, Technology and Finance Hubs of nearby Mumbai, Pune provide huge scope and impetus to training and placement prospects.

Hey buddy..
IIEST Shibpur is an "Indian Institute" and an INI like IITs / IISc while NITs are "National Institutes" having a Lower Budget than IIEST. IIEST is considered Higher Level Institute than NITs and accordingly Govt. of India has sanctioned Higher Budget for IIEST similar to IITs but Higher than NITs. Hope now you understand the Difference between an "Indian Institute" and a "National Institute".
Currently MHRD / NIRF Ranking has placed IIEST at "7th by Research Parameter" and 20th overall placing IIEST Above almost All NITs except two or three very old NITs. Naturally IIEST is Better than All the NITs you have mentioned for B.Tech / M.Tech and particularly for M.Tech considering Research. By Research IIEST is just after six old IITs and Above All other IITs and NIITs taken together.
I would place Old IITs / IIEST / Old NITs/ New IITs / New NITs as shown below.
1. Six Old IITs - They are The Best in India and Comparable with Bests in the World.
2. IIEST - Ranked 7th in Research by MHRD / NIRF - Just after six old IITs and Above All NITs. Check Wikipedia / MHRD / NIRF ( Research Parameter) .
3. New IITs - They are Above most of the NITs except may be few Old NITs. But New IITs will be Above All new and old NITs very soon.
4. Old NITs - Better than few New IITs but Above All New NITs
5. New NITs
Please select your college keeping above ranking in view. In IIEST you will get help from its "Global Alumni Association" having Seven Chapters in USA ( New York / Chicago / California / Washington etc.) only apart from several Alumni Chapters in London / Singapore / Canada / Europe / Australia / New Zealand / Middle East etc. as also Chapters in almost all the major cities in India. IIEST Alumni offers many Scholarships / Fellowships / Internships / Research & Travel Grants to B.Tech / M.Tech students for higher studies / research in India / USA / UK / Europe.
So IIEST Shibpur may be the Best Choice for you.
Wish You Best of Luck…
Hi, it is very difficult to guide you as you have not decided which branch you wish to take. Looking at previous data people tend to compromise with their colleges but not with subjects. The jobs available in mechanical sector is pretty stagnant. Where as Computer Science is blooming. So, it is advised that you select your course first. Both the colleges are equally good and have a decent amount of placements in both the sectors. Below is the link for you too check and compare colleges to suit your needs. Hope this helps.
See if we study the records of placements then IIIT Vadodara will be a better choice. Academically both the colleges are great. But as per the stats available, CSE is a better course compared to that of ECE. As a result if you want to go for a career which has a lot of employability and a college which offers you the best outcome then the data available dictates that IIIT Vadodara will be a better place for you.

I hope this answer helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!
Incase your interested in Aerospace you may consider IIEST Shibpur, however you dont have strong Core Engineering Placements, same with Integrated MSc in Physics at NIT Surat. Incase your choice in Aerospace Engineering, you should target MTech in Aerospace from some of the IITs/IISc Bangalore/IIST Trivandrum or maybe a career with ISRO/DRDO/HAL, post GATE Qualification. Today however there are strong Off Campus Opportunities in the Aerospace Sector with lots of Private Players like Skyroot, Agnikul, TAL coming in, however a Postgraduate degree is desirable by most Employers. Other option could be PhD abroad, which is a usual for IIEST Graduates, mainly in US or pursue Non Core Opportunities like Edtech, Finance, Data Science, Software or maybe prepare for CAT followed by MBA. Incase youre interested in Physics, you may take up NIT Surat, however prospects remain same, you make pursue PhD or maybe a career with the EdTech or Education Sector and usual Non Engineering Opportunities On Campus.
Try looking for a NIT or Top GFTI, at your Rank, with streams like Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgy or maybe Electrical or maybe CSE/IT at some Good IIIT, I believe this would be better, incase youre not genuinely interested in Aerospace or Civil.
