    College with good placement.

    College Infrastructure

The college infrastructure is awesome. It has separate buildings for all the departments. There are 2 boys(one is currently in construction) and 1 girls hostel. The campus has WiFi facility. There are few classes embedded with smart boards. There is no auditorium of the college. There are laboratories which are well maintained and useful. There are 2 canteens inside. They provide clean and hygiene food.

    Academics

The faculty in University are awesome. Many have teaching experience of more than 20 years. They all are supportive. They are friendly in nature. They are always ready to support students. Many teachers try unique ways to teach students subjects which keep the interest of the student awaken. The syllabus of the semester is qualitativly good. As it is deemed University, they have chosen the best part in syllabus for students.

    Placements

As heard from my seniors and former students, several companies visit University with job offers every year. The previous year,a CS student was offered the highest package of 27LPA. The average package was 4LPA-6LPA. Every year around 60-70% students are being placed.

    Value for Money

My course cost me 50000 rupees per year. Additional 15000 per year is charged in the name of Academic Development fees. The hostel fees vary for AC and non- Ac rooms. For non AC it's 82500 rupees per year and for AC it's 120000 per year including mess also. Yes, it is worth of my parent's money because they try everything for their students. They have several subjects which are specially for the development of students both professionally and academically.

    Campus Life

The campus life in bharath University is really good. Here you will find students from almost all parts of India. Majority is from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu Students. Though being from varies places. They live good and some are helpful too. The campus is located in tambaram which is 20km from Chennai airport and 3 km from Tambaram station. It can be easily reached. The locality near campus is good. There are super markets and stores near.

    Others

Overall the college is good, I can recommend it those who want to meet various students and want to learn something different. Sometimes the management does not work properly.

    Placements

The placement in the college is good. As mentioned by my seniors, several companies from different parts of India visit our campus every year for job opportunities. Previous year the highest package was offered to a CS student of 27L. The average package given was 4L-5LPA.

    Value for Money

All the departments have an average of 60000-70000 tuition fee per annum. It is really value for money. But the hostel fees has no worth. They take 82k per annum fees( non-ac room). In hostel, no locker are provided and there is no laundry for clothes. There are some water problems also.

    Campus Life

The campus life in bharth university is quite exciting where you meet students from all over India. Major students are from Tamil nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chattisgarh and many other states of India. The campus is WiFi enabled and neat. It is easy to reach the campus. It is near 18-22km from chennai airport and is near to Tambaram.

    Others

Overall the College is good. Faculties are good and supportive. The management is not responsible at all. The admission is quite easy and they offer scholarships on the result of higher secondary result. There do not organize any fests and events. They only organize seminars and conferences of national and international level.

    Value for Money

    College Infrastructure

The college infrastructure is qute good. It soes not have a very big campus. It does not have a big ground where students can play. It has a small ground in the centre which has a basket ball ground, cricket net and many others. The campus is WiFi enabled. Right now, due to construction of new buildings, it's mess at many spots in campus. The laboratories are quite good with all the required equipments. The college has no poper drainage system and its full of water during monsoon.

    Academics

I am a student of B.tech/aerospace. The teaching quality is good. The teachers are supportive and always ready to help students with the issues. The curriculum keep on updating. There are exams conducted after every 2-3 weeks to examine the students. It is a deemed university which selects it own syllabus. The faculties are of good nature and helpful.

    Placements

The placement quality in my college is satisfactory good (as said by my seniors). Many companies of India used to visit the campus with job offers. Previous year, the highest package was of 27L to a student who was placed in Amazon. The average slaray package in the campus is 3L-4LPA. All these stats were given by my seniors to me.

    Value for Money

My annual tuition fees is 60000 rupees and additional academic development is collected as 15000 per annum. The fees is value for money. I feel that the money I am paying to college is worth it. They offer several opportunities in third and final year. The problem is with hostel, it's not the value of money. There is no lockers, no laundry, no outing in hostel. The students are not allowed to go out after 8PM in evening and girl after 6:30 PM.

    Campus Life

Campus life is good and mesmerizing. Some of the seniors are supportive and friendly. The campus is strict for ragging cases. It is not at all bearable by the college dignities. Even if any teacher is found in wrong doing, proper action is taken against them. It is near to Chennai Airport and near to Tambaram station. The locality is safe. The college has its own hospital in case of emergency.

    Others

The college is good for all the students who wants good education in less fees. The college management is not proper. They don't support students much in sports. It is really difficult to get permission for any event or fund for represying college in competition.

    College Infrastructure

The infrastructure of the college is good. There are two canteens. The campus is clean and hygienic. Dustbins are placed everywhere in the campus. The university has its own hospital for emergencies. The classrooms are quite good. Currently there are few smart classrooms but they are working on it. The campus is wifi enabled but when u enter in classes, there will be no net, as to stop the use of mobile in classes. There are libraries for different departments. There are 2 big hostels in campus.

    Academics

I am pursuing B.tech in aerospace engineering in this college. Till now the teaching staff is good. They all are of good nature and always ready to help you for any study related issues. Some of the faculties are irresponsible but major are responsible. Many teachers are there with an experience of 20+ years in teaching. The faculties are good and encourage students to do their best in studies.

    Placements

The college has a good placement. Many students were placed in companies via college. The highest salary package offered was around 27L in Amazon to a student in CS. The average salary offered lies between 4-5L. The college was supportive also.

    Value for Money

Well all the courses have different fee structure. The college also provide scholarship on the basis of your results. I was given 50% scholarship. As compare to other colleges with same facilities and all, the fee is quite pocket-friendly. It is value for money.

    Campus Life

The campus life is amazing and exciting because in this college, you will meet students from Tamil Nadu, Andhra pradesh(majority), West Bengal, Telangana, chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Nagaland, Assam and almost all the states of India. It is green campus. Right now due to construction, it's not that much but soon it will be again as green as it used to be. The college has a playing ground also.

    Others

I find this college to be a good choice. If you really want a good college in less fees. Then you can opt for this. The admission process is not much complicated. There is not ragging in the campus.

The best way to learn about it is to go do it. Rob's suggestions of an intro course or a tutorial is a great way to get started, but really what you should do is try to solve some problem with NLP.

Here's how you might do that. Go download NLTK (Natural Language Toolkit). Then build some software that does something cool.

    Here are some ideas:

Run a bunch of different POS taggers on some text and characterize the differences. Which is better for what domain? Do they make similar mistakes?
Build a sentiment analysis system and run it on a bunch of reviews, or tweets about something. See what mistakes it's making and figure out how to make it better. What features should you use that can help it do better? Find out if people liked the Interview, or whatever the movie du jour is!
Write a system to detect spam reviews on review sites. You can find a huge dataset here: Detect Fake Reviews and Reviewers or a smaller one here: http://myleott.com/op_spam/.
Build a system for some other language. Text segmentation in Chinese is fun and hard, but really pick any problem and apply it to another language, and you'll learn a huge amount about your assumptions about what works and what doesn't work.
None of these things will work well on your first try -- a key lesson in NLP, actually -- so the main thing you should focus on, once you get a baseline system working, is to figure out how to make your system better. That's 90+% of the effort in NLP.

    Best of luck
