Hello

MES Wadia College of Engineering, Pune, has a competitive cutoff, especially for top branches.
For Electronics & Telecommunication via MHT-CET, cutoff percentiles range from 61 to 96, depending on the category.
Through JEE Main, Computer Engineering generally closes around AIR 1.7 to 1.9 lakh.
Other branches like E&TC may go up to 2.5 lakh rank in later rounds.
Cutoffs vary by round, branch, and category, so better scores give more options.

Hey Kalim:)

With 180 marks, getting a seat at COEP is unlikely , because its one of the top engineering colleges in Maharashtra and it's cutoffs are usually much higher. The cut-offs are calculated based on percentile and unfortunately,180 won't give high enough percentile to meet their requirement. So, it's better to consider other good engineering colleges where your score would be enough to secure an admission .You can still get a decent college and course but COEP would probably not be an option this year.

All the best!

Hello!

COEP Pune is one of the most competitive engineering colleges in Maharashtra. For JEE Mains admissions, the cut-offs for popular branches like CSE, IT, Mechanical, and ECE are usually above the 97–98 percentile for the general category. With 73.29 percentile, it will be very difficult to secure admission there, especially in top branches.

Your best chance is through MHT CET if you are a Maharashtra student — the cut-offs for certain branches there can be more flexible. Also, less competitive branches such as Metallurgy or Planning might have lower cut-offs.

Best of luck  and thank you for your question!

Hello!

So, if you are in your 1st year of Civil Diploma at Government Polytechnic Dhule  you cannot  get admission to COEP right now. You can apply after completing your diploma only.

After completing your diploma you can apply through lateral entry scheme that means direct admission in the second year but for that the competition is very high and seats are very less so you need to score high marks in every semester. finish your diploma first and then apply for lateral entry.

Your SC rank (1263) is decent, but COEP Civil is highly competitive. You can check exact prediction here:

If cutoff for SC in Civil at COEP drops close to your rank this year, then yes, you have a slight chance, especially in later rounds.

Hey Vishwavarad :)

Thanks for reaching out and a big congrats on your great score!

With 91.69 percentile and an SC category rank of 1263,your chances of getting a civil engineering seat at COEP are low but not impossible.

Here's why:

•COEP is one of the top engineering college in Maharashtra and civil engineering is still fairly competitive.

•In previous years SC cutoffs for COEP civil have mostly closed between 600-1000 ranks, your rank is slightly above this rank

•So,round 1 and 2 is unlikely but later rounds may offer a chance

•cutoffs can drop in round 3 or CAP, especially if some candidates withdraw or move

COEP is highly competitive,so don't fully rely on COEP civil, but do keep it in your preferences.

While there's still a small chance, It's important to keep strong backup options to ensure you don't miss out good opportunities ,if COEP doesn't work out.

All the best!

You got 87.41 percentile in MHT-CET 2025 and you want to take admission in B.Tech Electrical Engineering at COEP Technological University, Pune. You are from Chhattisgarh but you also have a caste certificate from Maharashtra.

Now, to get admission in COEP through MHT-CET, you need to be a Maharashtra state candidate. Just having a caste certificate of Maharashtra is not enough. You must also show that you live in Maharashtra or have a domicile certificate of Maharashtra. Otherwise, you will be treated as an All India candidate, and for that COEP only accepts JEE Main score, not MHT-CET.

Electrical Engineering branch at COEP is very competitive. For this branch, the closing percentile is usually above 98 or 99 percentile even for OBC category. Your score is 87.41 percentile, which is much lower than the required cutoff. So, based on this score, you cannot get a seat in Electrical Engineering at COEP.

Even for other branches like Mechanical or Civil, the cutoff stays above 97 percentile. So with 87.41 percentile, it is not possible to get admission in COEP.

You should try for other good colleges in Maharashtra or nearby states where the cutoff is lower and admission is possible with your score.

Hello Bhakti,

First of all, Congrats on scoring 85 percentile in JEE Mains ! Now, coming to the question of whether you can get admission into COEP with that percentile honestly, it’s a bit difficult especially if you belong to general category.

COEP is one of the top engineering colleges in Maharashtra and is now even an autonomous university (COEP Tech). Because of its reputation, the cutoffs for branches like Computer Science, IT, and Mechanical are usually very high often above 97–98 percentile for open category students. Even for reserved categories like SC, ST, or OBC, the cutoffs remain in the high 80s to mid-90s range depending on the branch. You can still explore the later CAP rounds, where cutoffs sometimes drop a little, and also look into other colleges under the same state technical education system, like:

VJTI Mumbai , Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli or Pune Institute of Computer Technology.

If you're from a reserved category, your chances improve significantly. Also, if you’re flexible with branches like Civil or Production, it might be worth trying.

Hope you will find it helpful!

Yes, you will get admission in COEP through JEE MAINS, COEP admits students through MHT- CET and JEE MAINS.80%  of seats filled through MHT- CET and 20% seats are filled through JEE MAIN . You can apply to COEP through JEE MAIN and participate in CAP rounds.

good afternoon ,the top Engineering Colleges in Pune ( after COEP, MIT-WPU, VIT) are :

PICT (Pune Institute of Computer Technology)    Known for CSE & IT, excellent coding culture, strong alumni network

AIT (Army Institute of Technology)    Great placements, especially in CS/IT; only for wards of army personnel

CCOEW (Cummins College of Engineering for Women)    Women-only college, strong in CS & ECE, good ROI

PCCOE (Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering)    Decent placements, good industry exposure

DY Patil College of Engineering    Popular private college, good infra, moderate placements

AISSMS College of Engineering    NAAC A+ accredited, decent placement, central location

IIIT Pune    Government-backed, strong in CS & ECE, high ROI

IIIT (International Institute of Information Technology)    Focused on IT & CS, good ROI

If you're targeting Computer Science or IT, PICT, IIIT Pune, and Cummins are excellent.

For ROI, GCOEARA (Govt. College of Engineering & Research, Avasari) is unbeatable with low fees and decent placements.

If you're looking for campus life + academics, MIT-WPU and VIT still lead, but AIT and PCCOE offer good balance
