Among the both Joint Master of Technology in Food Technology course in Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati is preferred as this type of program is launched newly in India and may have good scope. Where are M.Tech M.Tech Food Processing Engineering in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur is a regular Masters course you can find in any other College.

But here are only 5 seats for Indians and another 5 seats for Japan students for Joint Master of Technology in Food Technology course in Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati which has high competition. Hello Subbu,

Food processing is considered as a lower branch in all the colleges and if seen from the practical aspect , in india there is very less scope in the food processing stream or in the horeca buisness.

If you want to pursue this career then i would recommend you to kindly look for abroad colleges for your post graduation and if possible kindly change your branch.

But also keep in mind if you are not able to change your branch then it doesn't mean it's a waste doing this degree. After all you are in iit and there are many companies which allows for non core stream even from this branch.

Hi Aspirant,

Hope you are doing great.

I am sharing with you the eligibility criteria and admission process of IIT Kharagpur for MTech in food processing.

Eligibility criteria is that you must have passed Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/M.Sc or equivalent professional degrees (AMIE etc.) and having a valid GATE score. You need to make sure that your GATE marks are above the cut-off marks of your category and GATE paper.

Admission is based on gate score or gate score( 70% weightage) and then a personal interview round. A personal interview is necessary because it tests motivation and aptitude for the Programme, suitability for the department/center, Skills in basic science, engineering, and relevant areas. And one more thing is that the personal interview will be conducted at IIT Kharagpur only.

Hope this helps.

Fields like Food Technology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering etc are not that much package wise best as we used to hear about the field such as CSE, Electrical etc. So its discouraging yet true that the packages of BTech in Agriculture & Food Technology at IIT KGP, will not be as good as CSE. The salary package on average is around Rs. 6-8 LPA CTC & with time it may increase but the starting salary isn't usually very much higher than this.

Dear applicant considering the honest scenario of the inner educational atmosphere of the Colleges unless you get IIM Lucknow, Ahmedabad or Kolkata, it is not that satisfactory to take admission in the other ones. Whereas in case of IITs like IIT Madras, or IIT Kanpur it is way too better than to choose the less preferable IITs. So it is extremely important to get the seat at a good Institution, choose wisely.

Good luck!!

Hi,

No, it is not possible currently in case of 5 year Dual Degree Courses to leave college with a BTECH degree of 4 year. However if it was the other way round, where you were doing 4 year Btech and wanted to convert to Dual Degree then you could do that. But for you question, No you cannot leave a 5 year integrated degree with btech degree only.

I hope this helps,

All the best

Dear aspirant,

As you are an obc category and considering your percentile let me tell you that there are fair chances of getting a seat in iit kgp in the mba course however it also depends on your interview and the previous year cut offs trends.

But , on a general basis you will definitely get a call from kgp if you apply there.
