Hello,
With an OBC rank of around 71,000 and having Odisha as your home state along with a green card, getting admission into IIIT Bhubaneswar might be challenging, especially for popular branches like Computer Science. IIIT Bhubaneswar is quite competitive, and usually requires a better rank for OBC category candidates under home state quota.
However, admission chances depend on the specific branch, seat availability, and cutoff for the year. You should check the official JoSAA counselling cutoff trends for previous years to get a clearer idea.
For accurate and updated details on cutoff ranks and admission process, you can visit the official JoSAA website or Careers360’s counselling page.
Hope this helps you!
With
71 percentile (CRL rank 438k)
, getting into
NITs or top IIITs is very hard
. Even for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC), your rank is likely too low for most branches.
State Colleges : Try state-level engineering colleges (like JNTU, DTU) using exams like MHT CET, TS EAMCET , or WBJEE .
Private Colleges :
VIT, SRM, LPU : Take their entrance exams (VITEEE, SRMJEEE) – easier to crack.
Improve Rank :
Drop a year, study harder, and retake JEE Main 2026 for a better rank.
Other Paths :
Diploma + Lateral Entry : Do a diploma, then join B.Tech directly in 2nd year.
BCA/B.Sc : Switch to computer applications/science and later do MCA/M.Tech.
Next Step :
Apply for state counseling (like TS EAMCET for Telangana colleges).
Check private college deadlines (VITEEE, etc.).
Talk to a counselor for backup plans.
Don’t lose hope – many great engineers come from state/private colleges too!
"This might feel overwhelming now, but you’ll adapt. Just take it one step at a time – I’m cheering for you!"
Hello,
With an 85 percentile, OBC rank around 71,500, CRL rank 2,00,000, home state quota, and a green card, your chances of getting admission to IIIT Bhubaneswar might be limited, as the cutoffs usually are a bit higher. However, it’s still worth participating in the counseling process and exploring all your options carefully.
Stay positive and keep backup options ready to ensure you get the best possible seat.
Hope it helps you!
