Hello Akhil,
Congrats on qualifying mains.
Firstly it's quite not possible to get into NITs or IIITs with that rank of yours. Even after your reservation being applied for GEN-EWS category this year it's not possible getting into NIT or IIIT. Although it also does depend on the no of applications and seats available, but still you might hardly get mechanical or civil some courses like that in average NITs. Don't loose hope here. There's so much more opportunitites right in front of you. Keep trying for private institutes too. There are so many such institutes which provide their own exams and since you already wrote your mains it'll be easy for you to learn more topics and practise and solve more new questions. You might get in some decent colleges for sure but for NITs and IIITs, you need to work harder and secure a better rank. You can check out some other private institutes in the links below and try for those too. Even if you get in some decent college through your mains, try giving entrances for these colleges too if you'd like.

hope this will help you to make an idea about where you stand . if this does'nt help you please comment below.

Hello Aditya,
Firstly congrats for qualifying mains.
Though your percentile is good enough, you might not get into NITs & IIITs with the corresponding percentile you secured. You might get branches like mechanical, civil; for such courses you might but for CS,CSIT,EEE and all it's quite difficult to. Also this was the talk about average NITs. For top NITs, I'm sorry but it isn't that easy to get into. But you see the important point is the course you take in not the top colleges or anything. You can try in tons of private colleges where the college provides their own tests and the syllabus will be quite similiar to mains so please check those out. According to previous years cutoffs you need to secure more than you secured to get into NIts and IIITs.
Here are some private universities you can go through if you'd like:

As a third year B-tech student i have spent two years on campus and want to share my honest experience. Our college boasts a spacious and well maintained campus spread across around 30 acres. The main academic block are clean and fully functional with essential labs and new tech ,modern classrooms equipped with projectors and comfort seating there are also designated seminar halls and conference rooms on the ground floor of academic block. The academic block is mainly divided into 3 blocks, Block A, B and C including a very large and useful library in B block. Hostels are very close to academic block most of the hostel blocks consist of 9 floors each floor consists of 7 rooms with 6 three student rooms and 1 four student room. there is also single room hostels from second year but limited entries depending on CGPA of students. Hostel Mess is inside the hostel in ground and 1st floors. There is also a college canteen, Nescafe outlet (functioning up to 2 am ) and a stationary store inside campus. Whole campus including hostels is equipped with high speed WIFI up to a speed of 350mbps. The campus and hostels are maintained clean and tidy .Food is not the best and non native students find it difficult to maintain but there are other options plenty because mess fee is weekly and optional.
College infrastructure is overall good as it's just 23 acres but it is well maintained. All the required classes and labs are present in the academic block area. We have a large sports ground for football and cricket also.
College infrastructure is quite good there is lot of greenery in our college. Building are a bit old. Rooms are okayish i would say(enough for a person) college is small, it extends upto 30 acres. Overall it is not much bad
