First of all congratulations for your result. The cutoffs change every year as it depends on various factors. And Jadavpur University is among the top government Engineering colleges of India. So the cutoffs are enough higher compared to other colleges. Now your General Merit Rank is 131. Going by last few years' cutoffs, you can expect Electronics and Communications and Information Technology both in Jadavpur University, if not in first round, but by the third round of counselling you get your desired branch. Last year, after third round of counselling, CSE was filled within 107 rank. So it might be difficult to get CSE in JU. Now ECE and IT Both are good in Jadavpur University. Being one of the best colleges, the professors are extremely talented and experienced. But if we see the placement Statistics, then placement for IT is better compared to ECE. Around 45 to 50 software and IT based companies come for recruitment. The placement for ECE is pretty good. Both the branches have higher studies option. Through GATE you can get into best colleges. Now it depends on your interest and passion which one to choose.

The conducting body of Jadavpur University has started the Jadavpur University 2020 admission process for academic session 2020-21 from August 18, 2020 by releasing the application form for BA Hons and BSc Hons programmes. You have to fill the application form before September 4.

The admit card can be downloaded four days before the exam.

Hi Candidate! Jadavpur University is better than IIEST Shibpur. Jadavpur University has good facilities of faculties, infrastructure, culture, academics as compare to IIEST . And of we talk about placements I don't think IIEST Shibpur has better status than JU. IIEST is good college but still they don't have good placements.

I would recommend you to choose Jadavpur University rather than IIEST.

Yes, you can change the department from math to physics in the next counselling but for this first of all you have to fill the form for both Math and Physics and you have to wait for vacant seats available in Physics department. In Jadavpur University suppose if you get admission in Maths department in your first counselling then before second counselling the students admitted in first counselling get first preference to change their department internally.

As per your rank, the colleges you have no chances that you will get Jadavpur University in any branch. Last year closing rank for B.E. in Chemical Engineering is 2726.

Last year closing rank for B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering is 304. Last year closing rank for B.E. in Information Technology is 961

Last year closing rank for B.E. in Electrical Engineering is 1076. Last year closing rank for B.Tech. in Food Technology and Biochemical Engineering is 4330

So, you have no chance as cutoff is higher to get a seat in Jadavpur University

Jadavpur University is one of the best government Engineering colleges of India. It is quite difficult to differentiate Cse and Electronics and Telecommunication. Needless to say, the placements are absolutely excellent. The professors of Jadavpur University are mostly PhD scholars and they are extremely helpful and experienced. Academically and Infrastructure wise, Jadavpur University is greatest. Being the government engineering college, the fee is very feasible. The placement of both IT and ETC are extremely good. However, more CTC is offered to Information Technology Engineers. Average CTC for IT lies around 12 lpa while it is 7 lpa for Electronics and telecommunications engineers. Around 100 organizations have participated in the campus drive in the current session and most of them were Software and IT companies. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, L&T Technology, Texas Instruments, Directi, Capgemini, Samsung, Goldman Sachs, Mentor Graphics, Airtel, PWC, CG power etc every year recruit engineers from Jadavpur University. In the latest placement, around 98% students were placed from IT. The highest package offered was 39 lpa offered by Adobe while the placement percentage is not so impressive for ETC. Around 75% students have been placed from ETC in the lastest session. And the highest package offered was 28.75 lpa.
