Hope you are doing well ! VIT is much better than SSN. VIT provide you the exposure and this is better than SSN in terms of infrastructure, placement, education, exposure. But, if it comes to fees SSN is better than VIT.I also want to clear that it is my personal opinion ,your or someone else views can differ on this topic .

There are opportunities, but only if you pay a higher category charge. If you're thinking about going this way, you must invest a sizable sum. One can only obtain the desired branch of their choice through management quota. You can ping or write me further if you require more clarity.

As per your rank 35181 category 2 not possible to get CSE in VIT . You can get other branch except CSE in Chennai campus. It can be possible in category 4 or category 5 only. That too it seems very difficult. Attend the first round of counselling and be cool. According to previous year cutoff of CSE it will reaches to 7000 only. Hope you are doing well.

I would not recommend you to join VIT Vellore for Biotechnology. This is because very few core companies come for placements and packages are also on the lower side. Also, Biotechnology, Civil and Chemical people are not allowed to sit for many consulting companies which limit their options. So, placement and internship wise don't have that much high hopes. If you are getting CSE, IT or any other circuit branch in VIT, please grab it as you will have ample opportunities.

However, if you are interested to pursue your higher studies abroad (MS), then you can join as you have quite good lab facilities at VIT and you can always approach a professor for any research publication. Also, you can give GATE and explore other options as getting a good GATE score in Biotechnology is comparatively easier than that of Mechanical, Civil, EE and ECE.

Vellore Institute of Technology offers a wide range of courses in different streams at the undergraduate level and post-graduate. A wide range of subjects is offered including science, humanities, technology, and commerce which cover the fields of biology, biotechnology, electronics and computer technology, statistics, etc. For students in the field of biology, the different courses offered by the university are as follows:

1. BTech in Biotechnology: This is a 4-year undergraduate program with an approximate overall fee of 8 lakhs. The cut-off rank for this course is below 20000 ranks in the VITEE entrance examination.
2. BTech in Bioinformatics: This is also a 4-year undergraduate program with an approximate overall fee of 7.84 lakhs. The cut-off rank for this course is below 13500 ranks in the VITEE entrance examination.

If the admission withdrawal request has been made before the starting of the program then 11800 of the total academic fee will be deducted. If the withdrawal request is made within 25 days of the commencement of the course, then 10% of the entire fee will be deducted and the rest will be refunded.

If the request of withdrawal is made after 25 days from the commencement of the course but before the 40 days of the commencement of the course then 20% of the entire fee will be deducted. If the request is made after 40 days from the starting of the course then no refund will be made. Only caution deposit will be refunded.

So with regard to your query, you had secured a little bit of higher rank and the chances for you to get into the VIT branches are however good.. But, the cutoffs vary from one year to another, you might get seat basing upon the vacant seats and your reservation category. So, don't loose hope you might get the seat. Wait until the last round.

If it isn't possible to get the seat, then go for the management quota.

VIT does not release official cut-offs of any sorts so we can't give you an accurate answer. Looking at the previous year cut-off trends we can say that it is quite difficult for you to get CSE at Vellore or Chennai campus. Usually, you'll need a rank below 15 k to get CSE in these campuses. Yet, you have a fair chance of getting CSE in Bhopal and Amaravati campus. You also have a decent possibility of getting civil and chemical in Vellore/Chennai campus.
