NIT Raipur:

• It has been ranked 64th position for NIT by National Institute ranking framework.
• The average placement package is 9.5 lakh per annum.

Both are quite good institutes and it is difficult to say which one is better.

Seat allotment in CSAB counselling depends on total number of candidates applied for CSAB counselling, All India rank of the candidate, category of the candidate, preferences of institute and branch, seat availability etc. Depending on these factors the seats are allotted to the eligible candidates. It is quite difficult to predict the chances of getting seat in Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering because the cut off changes every year. You haven't mentioned your category assuming that you belong to general category last year a candidate with AIR 36340 secured admission in to Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.

With a percentile of 87 it would be very difficult to get mechanical branch that too in old nit like VNIT ( NIT nagpur ) ,if you had apercentile just above 90 then it was possilble still dont give up just go for special round if you get a seat by luck , who knows so try your luck ,do have much hope .

1. Admission to the bachelor of Technology course is offered on the basis of joint entrance exam main entrance exam.
2. Entrance exam is followed by JOSSA counselling process.

Infrastructure : Both the institutes has very good infrastructure and are equipped with all the modern facilities. There is no comparison as whose infrastructure is better. Both have the best infrastructure.

- The fees is nearly 65k with some miscellaneous fees.

- But they avail scholarships for students whose income is less than 1L/a and also for students under categories.

The Seat allotment of JOSAA depends on various factors like Gender, community, Category, hime state quota etc. The Choice filled by Student is also considered while allotment of seats.

The change in institute during mock and first round would be because of many of the appearing student in councelling would have changed their choice filling order . Due to which the seat allotment of round 1 differed from Mock seat allotment .

Unfortunately, I am sorry to inform you that, you are not eligible to take admission in NIT but you are eligible for IIT. Diploma holders are eligible to get direct admission in second year of B.Tech or B.E. through LEET exam. LEET exam is conducted for Diploma holders who want to get admission in B.E or B.tech courses. This is national level exam. However, you can also apply for state level exam.
