In most engineering colleges you can change your branch of engineering in 2nd year. But depends on the availability of seats. If there are seats available in class then on performance basis students get to change there branches. I guess it has to be same in Jadavpur University as it happens in IITs as well.

As per previous year data, Courses like printing and food technology were closed at 2700 and 2300 rank respectively for the year 2018 in round 4. Let's say they do conduct a decentralised round provided a few seats are free in some branches. Most likely they will be free in lesser known fields like the ones i have stated above. In which case there may be a 50-50 chance of you getting the seat.

Predicting the chances of allotment in decentralised procedure is extremely hard but the two fields i have mentioned above are most likely to remain free for the decentralised procedure.

As per your rank of 4300 you might get into the following streams as per previous year's statistics:

• civil, instrumentation, Mechanical, power, printing, production: for OBC category
• all the above, chemical, construction, IT, EE: for SC/ST category.
• No streams with that rank for general category.

• CANDIDATE MUST APPEAR IN PERSON TO TAKE PART IN

COUNSELING AND must report at the venue of counseling at least one hour before the time-slot allotted to him/her.

• Date of Registration: UP TO 06/08/2018 14:00 Hrs.

• Any Problem regarding Registration to contact above mentioned address by 12.00 Noon on 7th August, 2018.

• The date and time-slot shall be notified in the Jadavpur University official website www.jaduniv.edu.in on 7th August, 2018.

Yes definitely there will be spot round counselling conducted by wbjee will also include jadhavpur University so just wait till the final round over. So you don't have to worry about this because it has to happen because even after taking admission some students left college when they get good colleges through jee or other colleges. It will be just after 15 to 20 days after the last counselling.

After this, you'll get the dates to attend the spot counselling where you can get the branch according to your merit and vacant seats.

Hi Sourav,

Jadavpur University has already brought out the merit list for all it's courses. It is from among the names in the merit list that the rank cutoff is published for admission. Ideally, there is no second merit list. However, if majority of candidates in the merit list do not take admission and seats are left vacant, there can be possibility of another merit list.
