ST. 4
OBC A. 7
OBC B. 5

You can try for other good Colleges like St. Xaviers, Scottish, bethune, assutosh college and more.
Hope you found this useful
All the best
Basically in first semester , what you had studied in previous classes has been taught so you don’t need that much specific books but for 2nd semester , to score good in semester exams , just go through what you have been taught by teachers i.e, their notes and previous years papers .
It would be better if you contact some senior of yours in Jadavpur in CE branch and enquire yourself. As far as I know you can buy one of these : . Introduction to Chemical Engineering
Fluid Mechanics for Chemical Engineers
CHEMICAL ENGINEERING FOR GATE PB
You can also ask your professors for their suggestion as that would be the most helpful thing.
The Department of Printing Engineering is one of the premier departments delivering high quality education in the field of printing and packaging in eastern India. Founded in 1988, a unique department which creates a blend of artistic, scientific and technical learning, it took its small fledgling and soared high with time producing some of the finest leaders of the industry around the country and globe. This share of success goes to the teacher student relationships which helps in regular summer training, seminars, industrial visits and an environment conducive for research and projects. A mingle of arts science and engineering metamorphosed into a study inevitably resulted into a multi dimensional curriculum ranging from the basics of computer sciences to the deepest intricacies of printing and packaging, giving our students a wide gamut of choices to tread along one of the many roads. Consequently leading to a diverse alumni base which often plays a vital role during placements.
The Printing Engineering course is supported by members of staff from Department of Science and Humanities, different Engineering disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and Computer of the College with guest faculty from industry. Allocated no. of seats are 31 every year for the course, in addition to 5 lateral entries. Yes at this rank you may get this Institute and that a pretty good grade. So you may try and your chances of getting Electronics much higher than Computer Science but decide yourself what you want EC or CS because of it important for your career.
All the best.
Hi Archi,
Based on your GMR rank i.e. 18,945, there is NO CHANCE for you to get any branch.
But, based on your SC rank i.e. 1,055 and based on 2018 cutoff of Jadavpur University, you can get the following branches-
1. CSE (Round 2)
2. Electrical Engineering (Round 1)
3. Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (Round 1)
4. Mechanical (Round 1)
But, if the counselling is done only on the basis of your GMR, then there is NO CHANCE.
Hope this helps you.
All the best!!!
Hi,
Congratulations on being eligible for admission to these two reputed colleges. Both are excellent choices and thus, I can understand your confusion.
Jadavpur University is a state university but fares better in the National Ranking(NIRF all India 9th rank in engineering). The tuition fees is very less(around 3k per year) and the placements happen all throughout the year unlike in other colleges where it occurs only for 2-3 weeks. You get a lot of support if you're interested in research or for higher studies in top institutions in India and abroad. Being in the city of Kolkata, it would provide more opportunities too.
Faculty is good enough in both places and placement are also more or less the same. Jadavpur is slightly better for placements in the core sector. The fees at NIT Durgapur is around 75k per year and since it's a NIT, you can find students from all across the country there.
Your top priority must be your interest for the course and factors like placements, fees etc. Do not blindly go for the NIT tag. Choose the course which you are more inclined towards, as you have to spend 4 years atleast doing it.
All the best!
A bit underwhelming due to inadequate funding. Basic labs found in first year are not upto the mark. However when it comes to equipments, toh would probably all of them except half of them are obsolete from industry pov.
The Jadavpur University has quite old buildings. But, it has a central library with separate libraries in each department. It has 4-5 canteens at different points in the campus. It also has an Open air theatre, A gym, and a basketball court adjacent to the main ground.
The university still uses alot of buildings that are way too old and they are maintained very rarely. But, few new buildings have been built recently which is a good thing. There is a lack of adequate labs for example in my department (Economics) there is no sufficient facility. There is also lack of ACs in the classrooms.
