Hi
If we estimate in accordance to previous year cutoff trends, then you need atleast 2 Rounds of Counselling to get Civil Engineering at NIT Surathkal, even though it is your Home State NIT. Further a gap of 1.5k can fill even within a single round or can take upto as long as 3 rounds of Counselling. So keep high positive hopes. You'll get it.
Best of Luck.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
Hi
Let me display you the previous year cutoff tactics here:
Round 7 closing rank for Mechanical Engineering under Home State quota was - 8851(OBC Rank).
Special round 1 closing rank for Mechanical Engineering under Home State quota was - 38612.(AIR).
Special round 2 closing rank for Mechanical Engineering under Home State quota was - 40082(AIR).
CSAB Special Round cutoffs would be similar to this. According to this data, you have very low chances for Mechanical Engineering at NIT Surathkal.
At this rank you can get the following at NIT Surathkal -
Chemical Engineering (low chances).
Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
Mining Engineering.
You can always check the same about JEE Main Cutoff for NIT Surathkal in a greater detail through this link: https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-cutoff-for-nit-surathkal.
Best of Luck.
Hope this helps.

Hello,
Congratulations for doing so well in jee.
You have very good options available to you.
Cs and eCe branch are trending branches and they also have great demand when compared to chemical branch.
I would suggest you choose Nit warangal,as it has very good reputation and placements.
Also it depends on your interest level,if you have interest in chemical branch then you should always go for Iit Bhu.
All the Best
Hii...
First of all congratulation to get NIT Waranga for MCM this is one of the top NIT colleges for MCA.
Chances are there to get NIT Surathkal in 3rd counselling but it is not sure to get as it depend upon number of candidates apply there and seat availability.
All the best!!
Hii Sakshi,
Coming to your answer see if you are not the branch specific and you want a good nit tag then I would personally recommend you to go for the nit Trichy production branch . As nit Trichy is one of the topmost college among the nit and it is ranked no 1 and getting a production also in it is not easy.
While if you are branch specific then o would like to recommend you to go for vnit Nagpur for the chemical engineering in it than at last the metallurgy in the nit surathkal, but in my opinion you should go for the nit Trichy as it is a very good college and has top rank among all nit ,then for vnit Nagpur and then for the nit surathkal.
Hope this helps you , feel free to ask if you had any doubt regarding this,
Good luck
dear candidate,
If you are passionate about Metallurgy then join TRICHY WARANGAL SURATHKAL.
If you are passionate about Chemical then join SURAT BHOPAL JAIPUR.
Assuming you are comparing the same Branches then this should be your preference among NITs:
TRICHY
WARANGAL
SURATHKAL
CALICUT
NAGPUR
ROURKELA
SURAT / BHOPAL / JAIPUR / ALLAHABAD / KURUKSHETRA
Well certainly one might think that IIT Indore is a new institute as compared to NIT Surathkal which has proved decades of excellence. But the thing is IIT Indore is one of the fastest growing institutes in the country and the best new IIT among all others. So i guess IIT Indore can be preferred over NIT Surathkal.
Hello,
It is indeed the case or it might be a mistake while uploading but according to government norms, EWS seats are mandatory. The total number of seats being shown in the website of Josaa is 0 whereas this is not true as there is at least 2-3 seats in each branch. You may have a look at this official link https://josaa.nic.in/seatinfo/root/InstProfile.aspx?instcd=211 . Hope this gets corrected soon.
If you are from other state then the closing rank for nit Suratkhal in CSE is 2237, eee is 9066 , for ece it's 5147, for it it's 6084, for mech it was 8851 and metallurgy it's 13749.
If your rank lies within this ranges you will get nit Suratkhal for sure
For the home state quote also you might check the ranks at career360.com
Please mention your home state or away quota too for a better analysis
I see that you have got 8000 rank in ews category in homestate quota , and you want to join nit surathkal. See , as ews quota is included for the first time this year, so we can't find any record so that we can say which branch you will get. You can although see the mock seat allotment , it will say better which branch you are more likely to get.
But what i think is that 8000 rank is too much according to me.
Hope it helps.
thank you.
Im a First Year Student at NIT Surathkal persuing Metallurgy and Materials Engineering and the infrastructure is great other than their sports complex is not so good, all of the sports facilities are cramped in one place
Classrooms and sports centres are great. Infrastructure available on need basis. Wi-Fi is great but not available at good speeds at some hostels. There is CIDS and CRF that are having many projects. There are two libraries one of which is open upto 12 midnight on normal days.
The college had a big name already and it lived by it. It provided a campus considering the comfort of the students incorporating all the necessary facilities like the labs for the science and libraries.
