Hi,
If you have choice between these two Institutes ,then you should go for NIT Trichy. Both are good institutes but NIT Trichy is better than VNIT Nagpur. Since you belong to Nagpur ,you may want to be VNIT Nagpur but if you chose NIT Trichy, there is no harm. You may have to live away from home in hostel, but it is experience one should take and it is worth.

As we go through the latest cut-off of 2020 then it shows that the closing CRL rank was 42176 for Metallurgical and Materials Engineering branch in NIT Trichy under state quota for General/Open category.
Now to secure such rank you should have your JEE-Main score at least 120+ marks out of 300 and percentile against this should be around 97.8+.

If you are a pwd student than 70.4 percentile is quite decent for your category you can get into NIT trichy and in some other good nits as well like
NIT JAMSHEDPUR
NIT PATNA
NIT HAMIRPUR
NIT JALANDHAR etc.

According to the marks given, you can expect your rank to range from 24961-28060. As of now it is hard to answer your question as the cut offs change every year based on a number of factors like number of candidates that appear for the JEE exam, question paper difficult, preferences selected by the student. The cut off varies for each course and for different category students.

If you refer to the JEE Main 2020 Cutoff Rank for female candidates, then you will find that the cutoff rank varied largely according to the streams. Although last year, the closing rank for B.Tech Metallurgical and Materials Engineering was 42176 , for B.Tech Chemical Engineering was 28925 , for B.Tech Mechanical Engineering was 17694 , for B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering was 12916 , for B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering was 8128 , for B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering was 4728, for B.Tech Civil Engineering was 38686 etc. Since, you didn't mention about your category, I assume you are from GENERAL category.

NIT Trichy is one of the finest educational institutions of India. This department offers 4th best ROI in the country. You can get admission through CAT as well. In order to get admission in NIT Trichy, you need to secure a minimum of 98 percentile in CAT if you're from general category.

it is one of the best engineering colleges in India and it truly lives up to its reputation. The campus is huge and green.The infrastructure is quite good, with modern classrooms, well-equipped labs, and a central library that’s a paradise for book lovers and project hunters alike.
The infrastructure of college is quite good , big and well designed . The classroom is properly ventilated and has smart board for effective learning, The library has all the books of different categories and students can issue any of the books in respective time. There are many grounds for respective sports and properly maintained periodically.
It’s campus is so big that moving from one department to other requires a lot of time else you can use bicycles. The view of college is amazing. There is wifi facility along big big classrooms and labs. I don’t suggest you the mess food.
