Hello,
Semester exams in VIT are mostly based on the class modules, lecture notes, and what professors teach in class. The questions are usually not as tough as JEE Mains. Most of the time, they are direct and based on what has been taught.
Many questions also come from previous year papers and sometimes from reference books if the professor has mentioned them. But overall, if you follow the class lectures, go through the module content, and practice from past papers, you can score well.
So, the level is moderate, not too tough, not too easy. Mostly concept-based, but not like JEE level tricky.
Hope it helps !
Hello,
Yes, an average student can definitely maintain a CGPA above 8.5 in VIT Vellore . Not qualifying JEE Mains does not mean you cannot do well in college.
It depends more on your consistency and how seriously you take your subjects during the semester. You don’t need to be a topper, just stay regular with classes, assignments, and study a bit before exams.
The pressure is there, but it's manageable. If you attend classes properly and study from notes or reference books, it becomes easier.
Semester exam questions are usually not as tough or deep as JEE Mains. Most of the time, they come from what is taught in class or from standard books or materials shared by the faculty. A little practice and understanding of concepts is enough— not a lot of critical thinking is needed like in JEE.
So yes, with regular effort, you can do really well.
The exam pattern of vit are:-
With a VITEEE 2024 rank of 80,250 , you stand a fair chance of getting B.Tech in CSE at VIT-AP under Category 2 , as the cutoff for Category 2 often extends up to 85,000–90,000 . However, it depends on seat availability and the number of applicants opting for CSE.
If you don’t make it in Category 2, you’ll likely get the seat under Category 3 with a slightly higher fee. During counseling, it’s wise to keep alternative CSE-related branches like CSE with AI, Data Science, or IoT open, as they have similar scope and slightly relaxed cutoffs. Be ready for quick decision-making during the counseling rounds.
At VIT Vellore, placements are primarily based on your performance during your degree rather than your 12th-grade marks. While some top-tier companies may have a 10th and 12th percentage criterion (usually 75% or above), most recruiters focus on the following factors:
1. CGPA: A CGPA of 8.0+ increases your chances of getting shortlisted for high-paying companies. Some companies have a CGPA cutoff (e.g., 7.5 or 8).
2. Technical Skills: Proficiency in coding (for IT roles), core subjects (for non-IT roles), and relevant tools (e.g., Python, Java, MATLAB) is crucial. Competitive programming and projects add value.
3. Internships & Projects: Companies prefer students with hands-on experience. Internships, research projects, and personal coding projects improve your profile.
4. Aptitude & Communication Skills: Most companies conduct aptitude tests covering quantitative, logical reasoning, and verbal ability. Strong communication skills are essential for interviews and group discussions.
5. Certifications & Extracurriculars: Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS, Data Science, AI, Machine Learning) boost your profile. Participation in hackathons, clubs, and leadership activities also helps.
To improve placement chances, focus on academics, build a strong skillset, do internships, and prepare well for aptitude and interviews.
