The infrastructure of thapar is quite good. It has Wi-Fi for all students with good speed. The CSE and ECE labs are well furnished, the equipment is functional, and the labs are air-conditioned. Classrooms have a capacity ranging from 20 to 300, depending on class sizes. The library is open for studying 24/7. Hostel rooms are also well furnished and air-conditioned, and the food provided in the mess is acceptable. There's an infirmary for medical assistance and a sports block that includes games like TT, squash, badminton, an indoor swimming pool
The faculty is qualified, with every professor holding a Ph.D. Some professors are particularly helpful. Besides professors, each course has teaching fellows (TF) and teaching assistants (TAs) who assist in running the course. The curriculum is very relevant, focusing mainly on CSE and ECE subjects
Around 90% of students were placed from thapar this year. The highest package was around 50 LPA, and the average package for all branches was 18 LPA, while for CSE it was 22 LPA. The internship season is a bit off for this semester compared to previous year data due to the ongoing recession. Top roles offered are in tech companies like Google, Microsoft, Jio, etc., primarily as software engineers.
The hostel facilities are excellent, offering well-equipped rooms with a bed (no mattress), a table with drawers, overhead storage, a wooden slab, and an almirah. Common amenities include a fridge and microwave on the ground floor of each hostel, along with a common room furnished with a foosball table, sofas, tables, chairs, and a large TV for watching movies and shows. There are no curfew timings.
The courses are quite challenging, and passing is not easy. For example, the passing cutoff for the Probability and Statistics course in the second semester is set at 13%, yet many students still fail. Around 30-40% of students fail each course, and professors rarely lower the passing marks. You really need to study hard once you join this college, especially for end-semester exams, where the class average often falls between 10-15%.
Around 95% students got placement in big MNCS like Zomato, Facebook, etc. Around 60–70% got internships every year and others may get opportunities for higher studies and placement offers. Average package is about 12 lpa
The campus is spread over 333 acres of land. It has lush greenery and very great infrastructure. Our classrooms are very huge with projectors and air conditioning. Each classroom can accommodate around 500 students. Our labs are great with the best equipment which are great for doing research.
Faculty members are highly qualified and have a great background. The faculty-student ratio is 1:9. They are approachable for students easily. They try their best to help students in their academics. There are 2 exams per semester. One is a mid-semester exam, and the other is an end-semester exam.
Tech branch students got 100% placements because the thapar placement cell is very nice. All great companies visit our college with very good packages. The highest salary package offered in the CSE branch is around 40 LPA - 50 LPA.
Wi-Fi is decent. The library is filled with books. Classrooms and the library are air-conditioned. Labs are very good for research. Hostels are well-built. The hostel rooms are very spacious. Our college provides double seater rooms till the second year. The infrastructure of our college is good.
Teachers in our college are interactive and helpful. Teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is relevant but the schedule is very hectic.75 percentage attendance policy is strictly followed by them.
More than 90% of students got placed in our senior 4th-year batch. Students who won't get placed want to go into the research field. Our course has excellent career options. Students will easily get placed if they maintain a CGPA of more than 7. The highest salary package offered is 65 LPA. The average salary package offered is 30 LPA.
There is a separate block for computer engineering. We have all equipment in the lab. All labs and classrooms have all time Wi-Fi. The library has Wi-Fi. It has only a few seats. The course books are very few. The hostel rooms are very good. Many washrooms are not in good condition. The quality of the food in the mess and canteen is very good. We have 24X7 medical facilities. We do not have an indoor badminton court. We have a cricket ground and a football ground.
professors are also highly energetic. Theory can be approached very easily. The faculty ratio here is 1:9, i.e., for every student, there is a professor. These numbers are a little higher looking at other institutes' statistics. Classes are more interesting as students can interact with professors freely.
As I am currently in First Year, I don't have any personal experience of it. But you are ensured to get a job with a good package. All the data of placement of recent years are mentioned on the placement website of thapar. The name of the Placement Cell of our college is CDPC. FYI, the last year average package of CSE (my branch) was 28 LPA.
Labs are fully equipped, classrooms are also very good and a special library is also available 24 hours a day. There was perfectly fine food in the mess and canteen. The sports and games are fully equipped, so everything is perfectly fine. The library has a lot of books in all genres.
Very helpful, qualified and knowledgeable teachers are there. The teaching quality is simply excellent; the course curriculum is also very relevant and it is very industry-generic as we are provided with the project. The semester ranges from easy to medium and is not very difficult.
The college has excellent placements. The maximum package was great this year despite the recession and the median was also great. This year, I have done a lot of duties and served as the branch representative of my branch. The top recruiting companies are Google, Zomato, Microsoft, De Shaw, Oracle, and Sprinkler.
The rooms are spacious enough for two people, and the Wi-Fi is decent. If we need more bandwidth, we can use the LAN. The lecture halls are also pretty good, with six of them, the largest holding 180 people. The mess food is decent, and much better than what I've heard about other colleges. There's a main canteen with several outlets and a medical office that's always open in case of an emergency.
The teachers and faculty members are highly qualified in their respective domains. Every professor has certain Ph.D. students who work as Teaching Assistants (TA) under the professors. These TAs generally evaluate our quiz papers and exam answer sheets.
In the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department, over 80% of students were placed. The average package offered was 28 LPA, and the highest package was between 50 and 60 LPA. Top companies that recruited from IIT Ropar include Oracle, JP Morgan, Google, EBay, Amazon, and Arista.
The classrooms here are good, with air conditioning and comfortable seating. The labs are well-equipped with modern equipment, and the institute has a strong ranking in research. There is Wi-Fi available in classrooms, labs, the library, and all hostels, except for the newly built ones. The library is spacious and has many amazing books to explore and read.
The course prepares students to be industry-ready, and besides electrical engineering, they also teach electronics, which helps students enter the electronics industry. The teachers are helpful and qualified. The pass percentage is about 30-35 percent.
About 75 percent of the students were placed. The highest package was about 65 LPA, the lowest was about 12 LPA, and the average package was about 22 LPA. The top recruiting companies include Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, and Nvidia. The percentage of students who got internships was about 70 percent, with companies like Accenture, Intel, Qualcomm
College has world-class infrastructure with Nav Nalanda Library, top-class . Wi-Fi speed is excellent, approximately 7mbps downloading speed . Mess food is excellent with Sodexo as a managing branch . Classrooms are excellent with foldable chairs and centrally air-conditioned halls.
Teachers are not very helpful. I don’t like going to classes . The teaching quality is not good . I don’t like the curriculum . In the first semester, there was no programming language, but in the 2nd semester, there was a C language. We have a subject in the 3rd semester as EDP, which I don’t think is very valuable, so I don’t like it as much, but it’s okay.
83 percent of the students were placed in my course: Electronics and Computer Engineering . The highest package was 40 LPA, and the minimum was 2 LPA, and the average was 11 LPA . Recruiting companies: Google , Microsoft , Apple , BlackRock , Infosys , Wipro. Roles offered: Software Developer , Front-end and Back-end.
Hostels are old. Wi-Fi is excellent and the library is amazing; it provides various facilities. There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The library is centrally air-conditioned and open 24 hours a day. There is Wi-Fi everywhere on campus .
Exams are very difficult and the pass percentage is around 35%. The exams are difficult, with a passing percentage of 35%. People need to study a lot to pass and appear in exams. The internship scenario was not good; people have to work really hard for it.
Average placements recently are not nice. The top recruiters are Apple, Google, Infosys, etc. 60–70% of students were placed. The total number of students placed this year was 1770; further, 70% of students were placed and the average package was around 5 lakh to 11.09 lakh
Hello,
Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (Thapar University) offers B.E./B.Tech admissions through two modes:
For B.Tech in Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering, admissions consider NEET scores or Class 12 marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Thapar University does not conduct a separate entrance exam for these programs.
Hope it helps !

Hello Aspirant,
Thapar University is one of the most renowned Universities in India. In terms of quality of education, holistic development, healthy student culture, placement package, and even the fee. But as far as I know, it is mostly known for its B.Tech courses. I would suggest that if you have other options like DU, Christ University, or any other central university, maybe consider them before resorting to Thapar University.
Hope this helps
