The best is the infrastructure of this college, where all the hostels have a modernised structure with well-equipped gyms in all the hostels and very good Wi-Fi speed. The facilities, such as cleaning and canteens, are also amazingly functional. The quality of food in the mess is better than most of the colleges.
Professors of Thapar are highly qualified and experienced, as most of them have done their PhDs from IITs. You won't have any concern over their knowledge. They are helpful and supportive. The college conducts two exams in a semester, one MST and one EST, and two sessions prior to each of them. The difficulty of paper is between moderate and tough.
After third year, you will be eligible for the placement and in the second year, you can apply for the internship too. As per my course, which is electronics and computer science, we will learn electronics in 2nd year and computer Science in 3rd year, which will allow us to sit in the placement of teach companies for the SDE role.
Thapar University has a central library named New Nalanda Library, which is a very mesmerizing and aesthetic piece of infrastructure constructed with the help of international architecture. The central library has a lot of books and journals, as well as a very specific sitting and reading area with barcode security. There are lots of dongs roaming around the university, which is annoying.
Semester exams are easy to pass, but the number of exams taken by colleges is large. For instance, 1 midterm, 1 end term, 1 sessional before midterm, 1 sessional after midterm, 2 vivas, and 2 lab components hinder the growth of the children in extracurricular activities.
70% of students placed the highest package offered on campus at around 52 LPA. Various internship offers were revoked due to a bad outlook in the industry. The roles offered were mostly SDE, ML/AI, business analyst, etc. Blackrock, JP Morgan
Hostel rooms are well-maintained with daily cleaning, provided with AC, single or double beds according to preference, and best-quality food. Breakfast includes paratha, dahi, achar, one meal, hot milk, cold milk, and chai. Lunch includes roti, chawal, dahi, 2 veggies, drink, and salad. Dinner is the same as lunch, excluding dahi and the drink but includes a dessert daily.
The exams are difficult, with a passing percentage of 35%. People need to study a lot to pass and appear in exams. The internship scenario was not good; people have to work really hard for it. All faculty are well qualified.
The top recruiters are Apple, Google, Infosys, etc. 60–70% of students were placed. The total number of students placed this year was 1770; further, 70% of students were placed and the average package was around 5 lakh to 11.09 lakh.
The campus provides high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity throughout. Labs in all departments are highly equipped. Computer labs have the latest software and hardware to support practical learning experiences. Classrooms are equipped with modern teaching aids like projectors and mics, etc. TIET's Nava Nalanda Library is a treasure trove of academic resources. You can find all the necessary books in this 4-floor library. It's a great place to study, research, have group discussions, and do presentations. Hostels are very clean, and rooms are spacious.
Some faculty members are really nice and helpful, while others you may not find as helpful. Most of the faculty members are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Yes, the course is somewhat relevant. Semester exams are quite challenging for some subjects as you are studying them for the first time. Pass percentage varies based on the course
I'm a second-year student of TIET pursuing my B.Tech in computer engineering. Placement for computer branches is decent; some companies offer good placements, but due to the large number of students in this branch, the CGPA cutoff is very high. Companies like JP Morgan are among the top recruiters. The average package is around 10 lakhs for this course; the highest can vary year upon year. The lowest package is 3-4 lakhs.
The Wi-Fi network is all around the campus with good speed and there are AC classrooms which are well maintained and can accommodate a good number of students. The library is one of the most iconic features of the institute and the hostel and mess facilities are excellent and considering you're a sports loving person, you'll enjoy being on the campus, playing various games such as badminton, cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, lawn tennis
The course curriculum is highly recommended as it helps you get ready for the real world challenges and the students are completely industry ready. The semesters are not too tough if you've attended the classes regularly and almost 85% of the students pass the semester.
Almost 90-95% students with 7 CGPA are placed with an average package of around 12.1 LPA and the highest being 55 LPA INR. Internships after 2nd and 3rd year are a bit hard to crack but the number is quite good as compared to other colleges. Top recruiters are Google, Apple, Samsung, BlackRock etc.
It doesn't feel like I am staying in a hostel. It's like staying in a hotel with all the facilities. We have good mess and staff that keep our feedback and work on behalf of it. They provide good food also. We can choose a 2-seater or 3-seater as per our convenience with AC facilities with some extra charges.
Faculty is excellent in this college. They are highly educated in their fields and provide assistance to us at any time, whether online or offline. We can go to them for extracurricular projects outside of their field, and they still help us in that without any hesitation.
The overall placement is excellent for our current senior batch. Many have been placed at various companies like Optum, FirstCry, etc. Also many if then git interned at Black Rock, Xpedia and many more. The college is also working very hard to call more companies so that all students get placed at a good package.
Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology provides various facilities to its students. The Wi-Fi campus houses a centrally air-conditioned library that remains open for 24 hours on all days. Apart from this, the institute has separate hostels for boys and girls, labs, sports facilities, cafeteria, gym, auditorium, among others.
Faculty members of this institute are well-educated, and they believe in spreading knowledge whatever they have for the benefit of students. The semester exams are moderately tough, but it is very helpful to make students ready for the future.
Internship chances by the college are very less mainly because of the limited demand in the market so students have to apply for their own internships. Average package for computer science branch is 7lpa only.
One of prestigous college with well developed infrastructure. It is a private college and deemed to University. All classroom, sport centre and auditorium is fully centrally air conditioned. All facilities are within college.
I am pursuing btech in computer science and engineering department. Quality of teaching is also above a mark. All facilities are well and had achieved a great height in their respective fields in their higher education.
Placement cell is also working within the college. About 90 percentage of students get placed in all branches and 95 percentage in cse branch. Average package is about 11 lpa for computer science branch.
Classrooms have Wi-Fi routers and projectors. library is huge and have lots of books. There are 17 hostels, of which 8 are for girls and rest are for boys. Food quality is good and there is variety of food. You get sweeter everyday. There is a dispensary and a medical shop in the campus. There is badminton court, tennis court, football field, basketball field, cricket field, swimming pool, etc. With coaches.
The faculty is well-learned. The only thing I don't like is that teachers don't care much about whether the student is listening or not. There are 2 semesters in a year, and each semester has two exams. Exams are quite difficult, but you can easily pass by doing previous year papers.
80% of the students got placed. only condition is that they have passed in all subjects. top recruiters are JP Morgan, IBM, Amazon, Accenture, Infosys, Walmart, Microsoft, etc. 90% of the students got internship. Our college gives opportunities to every branch of engineering
Classroom and labs are well structured. Library is the biggest attraction due to its beautiful building and variety of books. Wi-Fi is provided 24*7 all over the campus but in hostels, it is not that good. Food provided in mess is not that good. Medical facilities are also available at campus itself. Many sports competitions are also held in regular intervals.
Teachers are well qualified and knowledgeable but not much responsive. Quality of teaching is fairly good. Various semester projects are there in there for solving real life problems and assignments are provided for better learning. Semester exams are conducted as sessional followed with lab evaluation, then mid term exams and then again sessional, labs and end term exams. You have to achieve at least 33% marks for passing.
Many companies like Amazon, Flipkart, Apple, JPMC etc. visit campus for recruitments and provide internships to students. The main roles offered are SDE or SRE and many other non tech roles too. The highest package this year was 60LPA in CSE and average was 13-15LPA.
Hello,
Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (Thapar University) offers B.E./B.Tech admissions through two modes:
For B.Tech in Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering, admissions consider NEET scores or Class 12 marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Thapar University does not conduct a separate entrance exam for these programs.
Hope it helps !

Hello Aspirant,
Thapar University is one of the most renowned Universities in India. In terms of quality of education, holistic development, healthy student culture, placement package, and even the fee. But as far as I know, it is mostly known for its B.Tech courses. I would suggest that if you have other options like DU, Christ University, or any other central university, maybe consider them before resorting to Thapar University.
Hope this helps
