For NIT, there is no boys and girls quota. It is for the local or private colleges. NIT follows the guidelines given by NTA for counseling. They follow the rank cutoff given by the board. If you score to crack that rank barrier then you can get an admission. To get a secure position in the NIT where you want you have to score atleast 1500 -2000 rank.
It will be difficult to secure as JEE main is a hard paper but it won't be anymore if you practice hard and prepare the syllabus as per your strength and weakness.

All top NITs is known for core stream and CSE stream.For getting seat as mechanical engineering stream in top NITs you must have rank under 5k in general category.If you comes under home state quota of any top NITs then even with rank around 10-11k in general category you can get mechanical engineering stream.For having such rank you must have to score 190+ score out of 300.

Total marks for NIMCET is 480. They have different section subject wise. each subject contributes a part of mark to the total marks.

1. Mathematics:- No. of questions:- 50, marks:- 200
2. Analytical Ability and logical reasoning:- 40,160
3. Computer Awareness:- 10,40
4. general English:- 20,80

Qualifying criteria:-

The total weightage kept is 1000. Each section has a factor which contributes to the weightage. Here is the list:-

1. English-1
2. Analytical ability and logical reasoning- 1.5
3. Computer awareness:-2
4. Mathematics:- 3

These factors will be multiplied with score obtained in each section. This score will help you to get a rank. the higher you score in all the section higher will be the rank.

Try to get as high as possible. There is no such cut to straight value to say as lots of candidates are there and a 1 mark will make a  big difference. so just be patient and prepare and practice regularlly such that you can solve any problem given to you.

To get a seat in Computer science Engineering NIT, Trichy you need a decent rank.You need to score in between 150-200 or above as the competition will be very high. A candiddate from ST category with rank 53 secured a seat in CSE in NIT, Trichy.Opening rank was 25 and closing rank was 53.For this you need to work very hard and be consistent in your practice.Aim bigger, giver your best.I hope this is helpful to you.

last years other state electronics and communication closing rank for sc category was 147. right now ece is the 2nd most demanding stream in india. so you need to get around 200 in jee main to become on safe zone for nit trichy.
