Hello student,
First of all, it's the first choice of individual student to go for their topic of interest if we have got the respective rank, according to their interest. On the other hand, each of the the colleges have some streams which have a better performance as compared to the counterparts. So, from the last few years, it's been a common trend that toppers generally opt for IITB as their first choice option, but it doesn't make other colleges less important and it's just a matter of interest.
Hello aspirant,
Hope you are doing absolutely great.
So with regard to your query, the closing rank for IIT Madras for the Naval Architecture course is 7238, this is for general category. For OBC NCL category it is 3499, for EWS it is 1391 and for SC or ST it is 1792. These are the ranks basing upon the reservation categories.
Checkout the following link for any information regarding the cutoff of IIT Madras: https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-advanced-cutoff-for-iit-madras

Hi,
It's a great course to have in, and chance to join the strongest Alumni network of IIT Madras which comprises of nearly 45000+ successful people who graduated from India's top notch engineering institute.
It's a perfect blend of programming and mathematics. You would be having chance to learn Machine Learning from India's Machine learning champ Prof. Balaram Ravindran.
Believe me once you have done courses like Python, Machine Learning, Statistics , Deep Learning, Data Structures and Algorithms from IIT Madras than I can strongly say no one is going to stop you to become a Software Development Engineer or a Data Scientist at some of the leading software companies.
Although it's a new course so on campus opportunities will be less and even if You tries to get from on campus than competition is going to be very intense. As there are various talented students and Engineering degree is given weightage.
But if You try off campus than You will have so many opportunities as a Software Development Engineer. I have seen people with MCA, BCA degree from normal college working with top Companies like Microsoft. So don't worry it's IIT Madras degree so You will be having great opportunity to grow and connect to network.
Various Software Companies that hires are :-
the list is very long, etc etc.
As for the placements, its highly unlikely and with negligible chances that IIT Madras will allow online degree students to sit in regular placement process of regular students. They will create a separate process for placements, and as per IITM, its in developing phase.
But be sure that placements process of online students will cater sufficiently. In my opinion, it will be an online portal where students can upload their CV/resume and companies will call the students for interview by shortlisting, similar like online job portal but only available to online degree students.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
The infrastructure of my campus is very nice and provides the best environment for studying. Also my campus has all the necessary facilities like wifi , air conditioners etc which are fully functional and also the campus is hygienic.
IIT Madras is one of those places you hear about and imagine high-tech labs, brilliant minds, and a campus buzzing with activity. The library is huge and has pretty much every book or journal you could need. Hostels are decent, though some are better maintained than others, and the campus facilities like canteens, sports grounds, and Wi-Fi are reliable and student-friendly.
The infrastructure of my college is well-developed and student-friendly. The campus is clean, green, and spacious, providing a pleasant environment for learning. Classrooms are modern, equipped with smart boards and projectors that support interactive teaching.
