Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy, known as SASTRA University, is a private university in the town of Thirumalaisamudram, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu, India. It was established in 1984 in the form of Shanmugha College of Engineering which is now renamed, Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy [SASTRA]. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research courses in multiple streams such as Engineering, Science, Education, Management and Arts.
SASTRA university admissions is based on the marks obtained in the last qualifying examination. In case of B.Tech, M.Tech and Law courses, scores obtained in national level examinations such as JEE Mains, GATE and CLAT respectively, are also considered for admission.
B.Tech: JEE Main+ 10+2 merit (for 70% seats) and 10+2 merit (for 30% seats)
So solely JEE mains doesn't matter you need your 10+2 marks too to qualify for SASTRA university and CSE being most demanded branch of SASTRA University you need to be among the one on the top of there rank list.

see sastra is a deemed university and it has two methods of admission for btech, 70% of seats of btech are alloted through jee main score and 30% of seats are recruit through 10+2 score.
your scores are really good both in jee main and 10+2, to get a seat in sastra university.
Hey there,
Your chances of getting the sastra university is low. i will suggest you to take a year drop and prepare for JEE mains and advanced again so that you can get a good NIT and IIT . I hope you have got the point. Just take the right decision.
good luck !
Hello Aspirant.
Congrats for your 12th percentage and JEE main percentile. You have a high chance of securing a seat at SASTRA.The admission there is based on both your JEE main percentile as well as 12th board percentage.Since you have an excellent percentage and percentile you can very well apply for it.The SASTRA rank will be calculated based on a particular formula((JEE main percentile*0.25)+(12th percentage*0.75)) and based on the order of your merit you will be called for counselling. The application is available online in the official website and also if you want you can download and fill it.

Hi Jayanth,
SASTRA takes in students via the JEE route as well as the boards route
They have also reserved a certai portion of seats for students from Tamil Nadu,Trichy and Thanjavur.
On the basis of previous year trends,it would be difficult to get ECE at Sastra if you are outside TN(Completed your 12th outside TN),however you could get other branches and also the dual degree courses
If you are from TN,you would in all likelihood get a seat for pursuing ECE
Hello Shashank,
First of all, I'll tell you the calculations done by SASTRA university for SASTRA rank publication . If you've opted for stream 1, the sastra rank will be published based on SASTRA score ie; (0.25*jee perecentile) +(0.75*boards percentile). And based on this calcaulation, I'm pretty sure that you may not be called up for first round of counselling as competition is pretty high this time around. However, subject to seat availablity , you can get called up for second counselling round.
Hope that helps
All the best
My experience with this college is a mixed one ..The infrastructure of the university is good and is the most remarkable for the computing programs The research facilities here are top notch with fully equipped Labs and great professors (not all but a few ones are very experienced and influential in their field..other buildings are average and there is a wifi facility available 24/7 for laptops..no cycle is available ..The food is good..but everything has its bad days too..the form is quite clean
laboratories for bio tech and other related departments are very good and high tech here. Hostels are non ac full vegetarian, managable. wifi is 24/7 available. the environment is good for studying here.
It's average college, having wifi facilities like high tech laboratory. Bajaj and 5 g labs are there. Each building of department have different own laboratories. Hostels are non ac, but can manage. Wifi is 24/7.
