Great college, 2nd best in Eastern India.

    Verified Review
    College Infrastructure

The new hostels have large spaces and beautiful infrastructure alongwith hygienic and clean washrooms. The rooms are spacious and the architecture is really nice. The new boy's hostel is also great, however the playground is small.

    Academics

I'm studying CSE and the quality of teaching is good offline. Unfortunately online it has been difficult for both professors and students. Most professors are passionate about the subject they teach in class.

    Placements

Placements for CSE/IT is great. It's above 95 percent(excluding mass recruiters). Even the summer internships are great, particularly for CSE/IT and Mechanical students. ECE, EE branches also get good internships.

    Value for Money

The fees is high in online because we are doing online classes so it feels bit unreasonable tbh. The access to libraries, professors and other facilities isn't available online so the fees seems high wrt that

    Campus Life

Campus life is great, even though it is in a small city. Experience is what we make out of it afterall. Regional engineering colleges were made in 1960's to promote education in remote areas and it surely helped.

    Pretty smooth experience.

    College Infrastructure

Infrastructure is pretty good. Most of the old buildings are being replaced by newer ones. Labs are well equipped and has the NBA accreditation for tier1 college. You will have access to most of the softwares like MATLAB, etc (the college has bought license for the softwares)

    Academics

If you are genuinely interested in learning you are going to have a lot of opportunities. The professors here have really good knowledge of the subjects and most of them are ready to help. Also professors are engaged in research so you can have a chance to do research work under them.

    Placements

Placements are above average. Most of the good product based companies like amazon, Microsoft , Qualcomm visit the campus. Jp morgan and goldman sachhs also recruit for software profiles. Cesc ,reliance, tata etc also visit the campus.

I personally enjoyed the campus life a lot

    College Infrastructure

The college has all the necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipments. Classrooms and washrooms are pretty clean and are well maintained. The food in the canteen is served in hygienic conditions. We have all the necessary sports equipments. We also have mandatory yoga classes in the 2nd semester.

    Academics

I am studying Computer Science Engineering because I want to become a software engineer and land a job in good companies. Quality of teaching is really good. The teachers conduct frequent exams to keep check on how much we are learning from the lectures. The present curriculum is up to date is sufficient to make students job ready if studied and applied sincerely.

    Placements

Placement is good. The placement rate has been around 72% with a total of 116 companies participating. The highest was around 34 LPA in CSE or IT dept. Average CTC was around 9 LPA. The placement process was easy and smooth.

    Value for Money

The course fee per year is 1.4 lacs. The hostel fees is still being collected even though we weren't allowed to access the hostels during this pandemic. However the rest of the infrastructure and facilities are totally worth of the fees.

    Campus Life

Campus life was cool. No ragging at all. Seniors have been really supportive. Our college has numerous clubs where one can participate and nurture their co curricular and technical skills which often are helpful for placements as well. The college is based in a plant city hence the city design is really beautiful and planned. The area is perfectly safe and has hospitals for handling emergencies as such

    College Infrastructure

The facilities , equipment and laboratories are very good . There is offline online library which you can access . WiFi is below average . Hostels are net and Clean . Canteen food is available at low cost.

    Academics

I personally think that the curriculum is somewhat repetition of Btech. It could have better . Industrial exposure of my college is bit less for mechanical engineering . Faculties are very good and supportive .

    Placements

Reputed companies like TCS , Infosys , Lnt , Oracle , Tata visit the campus to give lots of job opportunities to the students . Also many MNCs also visit in our college . Internship opportunities are also get to many students .

    Value for Money

Fee structure is feasible . For first year Btech student is 1.5 lacks . Also you can get scholarship if you belong to reserved category. This college is value for money due to its great placement rate.

    Campus Life

Infrastructure is not soo good . Sports facilities are not good enough . Yeh hostel facility is quite good . Every year there will be technical festivals and also you will get chance to show your skills and knowledge .

    Others

Professors are supportive and alot knowledge of their respective field . For Btech this College is good because of the placement statistics. You can secure sit in this College by securing good rank in JEE mains.

Being a research scholar expected very good laboratory but it doesn't meet requirements of research scholars and no special equipment is available for Thermal students to do projects.Class room is good enough but doesn't have projector. no single sharing rooms available but hostel building is good enough to spend peaceful life no

    Academics

I am studying M.Tech in Thermal engineering in which I want to continue my research further. The faculty are highily qualified and way of teaching is also good. Our curriculum is up to date but some subjects are not that useful and some faculty won't teach passionatelt. CFD is the only subject which make you job ready

    Placements

Many IT companies will come and allow you for placements if you have good coding skills (enough to compete with other students) you will be place easily with above average package like 3.5 LPA to 7LPA. Core companies come rarely and unfortunately won't even allow you to sit in interview. Core companies like LnT offer around 5LPA. College is supportive for placements

    Value for Money

I pay around 65,000 per semester including tution fee, hostel fee and mess fee. We get stipend which is surplus to pay fee. Mess food is also good enough to survive.myne is the cheapest college in top 10 NIT's list .

    Campus Life

The best feature is it is fully residential so every student have to stay in hostel only. For every hall there will be a common room so that students can play games like carrom,Table tennis etc and can watch TV also. The staff also stay inside campus so they available easily.campus is near by junction mall(for having fun )and Benacity(for shopping ). It is vary safe inside, it has two ambulance services for emergencies.

    Others

If you have capability to learn yourself it will teach both academic and non-academic skills.

NIT Durgapur is situated in the heart of the the city .It enjoys location benefits being in the heart of the city.Coming to the infrastructure the infrastructure is pretty good and improving day by day.A new mega hostel is recently constructed which is called Hall-14 which can acomodate 1500 students. The campus is lush green and environment friendly. Also classrooms are equipped with air conditioning ,proper sports facilities are there. There is a central library and laboratories are well equipped

    Academics

The academics here are good and return on investment is good .I am currently studying integrated masters course in chemistry which includes engineering subjects pretty much.I got to get it through jee mains.the teaching is good but it can be better. Our professors are all phd and have vast experience in their field.Curriculum is updated according to industry standards and attaracts a lot of recruiters ,even our placements are going to commence and various things are done which makes us job ready

    Placements

The placements are good but it can be improved.CS and IT guys get great placement .For core departments companies cone but they are low in number although a handsome number of projects and internship opportunities are provided to students.for the courses 80-85% students were placed in cs,it followed by decrease in core branches.Average salary here is 9 lpa and highest package was 32 lpa.The placements here is 70-80% for all branches. The placement process comprises of apti, techincal and hr round

    Value for Money

The courses here are value for money and scholarships are provided to students .My course costs 56k per year and its quite a balanced decent amount.I feel its a good value for money course and also internships are going to start and it will be a good start to the career.

    Campus Life

    National Institute of Technology Durgapur

    College Infrastructure

The college has good infrastructure with a well maintained library, good medical facilities, proper laboratory facilities. Hostels are well maintained but need improvement as most hostels are old now. New hostels are coming up. Very neat campus.

    Academics

Professors are always ready to solve doubts. Syllabus is covered properly and there are lots of hackathons and workshops by college clubs to facilitate practical understanding of what we learn. There are lots of projects offered to interested students too.

    Placements

Though I'm in first year of college. Placements are really good for Computer Science and Information Technology students. However the Core branches need to work a bit more hard to grab their dream jobs.

    College Infrastructure

The campus is good with nice environment and plantations all over. The newly build hostels are nice with good WiFi and Lan speed but most of the students are allotted in old hostels which are not in good conditions but can be adjustable, the library facilities are good, smart board are installed in many classes but most of the professors prefer board. The food is average here, you will never get food like your home not anywhere in India and the hostel are quit clean with regular cleaning facilities.

    Academics

I am from CSE department and I took this department because I don't like to mug up most of the things and convey in a logical manner. The quality of teaching is average, the professors there are well qualified and can solve any of the doubts regarding any issues but teaching techniques are not that well manner. The curriculum keeps changing according to the present scenarios taking care of the demand of that subject in that field. If you are studying to get a good job you too have to study hard.

    Placements

Placements are good, the highest package can raise around 30 to 40lpa and average up to 9lpa and mass companies also comes up take many of the students .The packages depends departmental wise where the highest packages goes to IT/CSE students and it also depends upon the student's performance if he/she performs well in placements then students from any branch can get a placement with decent package.

    Campus Life

The campus life is the best here, get to know all kind of people around you as there is much diversity. There are various clubs for dancing, music, art, debating, management, photography, technical, automotive etc. and the campus is not that far from the near by malls and markets with many well know restaurants and in emergency cases a hospital is situated near by but there is a medical unit inside campus. Some professors can be bit annoying but you need to cope up with them if you want good grades.

    Others

The overall experience here is awesome. What makes a college,a college is the students. There what you have at the first year will be totally different when you reach final year with lots of experience over many things. You will just have to open up a little in the beginning and the environment does it all.College life spent here is precious, you start up with no knowledge to getting up a job,you start up with a proposal to getting up your love, you start up with friendship and getting up a family.
