Before coming to the college, I expected a top-notch infrastructure as the name suggests it's NIT. I must say, it's quite satisfactory but not top-notch. The classrooms are spacious and have projectors and microphones. The laboratories are well equiped with apparatus. The library have some very good books in store for us. But the cataloguing is not computerized which is a big problem. But the main problem is students do not get free wifi in campus. The SAC and the sports centres are very good.
The performance in academics mostly depends upon your own effort. The quality of class lectures depend upon your luck as every professor is having a different teaching style that may or may not suit you. But at the end most of them are approachable if you have any doubt. In case of ECE, it's one of the best department of NIT Durgapur with updated curriculum and excellent faculties. Also there are plenty scopes of doing projects. The rest depends on you.
I am in the second sem currently. So not a very clear idea of the placement scene. But I have heard from the seniors and the quality of placement is quite satisfactory. In 2019 the average salary is 9.09LPA and the highest is 32.54LPA.90+ companies visited. The placement reached almost 70-80% for all branches with mechanical and electrical being the most prominent. Top visiting companies were IBM, TCS, Cognizant, Microsoft, Amazon, Director, Vedanta and Wipro and Infosys.
The course fee is extremely high for general category-1 students (check fee pattern in NIT DGP website for further information). Its fee is nearly equivalent to a private college. The course structure is not up to the mark if we look from the huge fee perspective.
The campus is large, clean and beautiful with greenery everywhere. The stray dogs sometimes create a little bit of problem though?. Best thing is plenty of food option. And the worst thing is zone culture. There are many clubs for different activities. One can give auditions according to their choice. The bus stop is nearby but the railway station is a bit far. The campus is safe with equipment to tackle emergencies.
The first year girls hostel is very very depressing with water and wifi problem prevailing. But the senior girls hostels are good.
We have a sapaceous campus having some old buildings replaced by new ones . Hostel are just good with proper number of bathrooms. In each room we have 3 students. We have 2 big grounds but not so well maintained. Hostels and departments are well connected with high speed WiFi. We also have badminton court,Gym etc Also lab and workshop are well equipped with required equipments. Mess food is good as it has non-vegetarian options.
Many of the faculties have degree from abroad and currently working on their research projects. They are helpful inside and outside the class. Their command over the subject is excellent. Our course curriculum should need to be updated especially for core branches so that we can match the level of current industrial demands.
Placement cell need to be reformed with good authorities so that they can manage the HRs and recruiters efficiently as placement are not only the subject matter for students. About 75% of students got placed while 90% of CSE/IT students got placed bagging with an average salary of 8LPA . We have various top MNCs like Google, Amazon etc while mass recruiters like TCS ,Infosys etc. Highest salary goes to about 40LPA by CSE/IT student.
I pay around 69k per semester as my income category is below 5LPA. students with income category less than 1LPA pay around 7500 per semester. Thus such a low fees for NIT tag and such facilities justifies worth of every penny of my money.
In the sports corner , we have 2 big grounds, badminton court,Table tennis facilities ,Gym etc we also have 3 Main fest celebrated every year - Aviskar ,Aarohan and recstacy. Also we have freshers and fairwell in which we keep the moment to decay slowly. Seniors faculties and staff members are helpful except some the staffs being rude . Also we have medical facilities available for college students free of cost
The application process for MBA season generally starts with the opening of the CAT application form which is generally released in the month of August every year by the Indian Institute of Management. This generally mark the beginning of the MBA admission cycle, and after the release of the application form for CAT , other management entrance examination forms along with individual admission forms for non-IIMs are also released. The date of opening and closing of application forms is different for all the institutes.
Hello student,
The opening and closing rank cutoffs for NITs (National Institutes of Technology) can vary significantly each year based on several factors, including the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the JEE Main exam, and the available seats. Here’s a general overview based on previous years:
General Overview of Cutoffs
Top NITs (like NIT Trichy, NIT Surathkal, NIT Warangal):
Mid-Tier NITs (like NIT Jaipur, NIT Rourkela):
Lower-Tier NITs (like NIT Raipur, NIT Agartala):
If you have a specific NIT or branch in mind, let me know, and I can help you find more detailed information!
Hi
hope you doing well
For NIT Durgapur , the cutoffs are lower for home-state candidates in some branches. Based on previous years' trends, here are your chances:
Some lower branches:
Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
Biotechnology
Production Engineering
you stand a decent chance of getting lower-demand branches like Metallurgical, Biotechnology, or Production Engineering at NIT Durgapur under home-state quota. Ensure you participate in all rounds of counseling and CSAB Special Rounds to maximize your chances.
