Our college is well equipped with most of the necessary infrastructural requirements needed for an engineering student. New academic building is undoubtedly the best kind of infrastructure you can get in any of the NIT's and IIT's. Also the boys hostel stands unparalleled with many hostels of old IIT's of India since you can get single room. While on the downside when girls hostel is considered you need to compromise with 2 or 3 roomies. Food provided is hygienic and clean.
You get a lot of free time for investing your time wisely. One drawback is 75% compulsory attendance in each sem. Very few faculty members may reach up to your expectations. One major problem in govt. engineering college is that they follow old curriculum especially in core branches so our college is no exception. But overall healthy learning and coding ambience.
Placement wise our college stands among top NIT''s of India, Please don't go blindly by NIRF rankings when you only want to know about placements. This year CSE got 100% placement while mechanical branch got 96% placement despite corona consequences while other branches did exceptionally well. Our college has training and placement cell, quite unique facility. Overall you will get great reach due to industrial region of Jamshedpur especially in core company placements.
You need to spend a total of around 8.4 lakhs which is without any scholarship and fee remission, if you are from gen or obc category. Zero tuition fees for Sc and St students. And depending on family income and category you can get fee remission on tuition fee. S o overall cost per output ratio is decent. Also there are some scholarship schemes at national, state and institute level if you are eligible to avail.
Right now i really cannot tell you about campus life. Infact,i have not even seen my college physically. But based on my online experience. College has several technical teams namely revanta, daksh, drift, phoenix, ecoriders ,etc . Coding clubs are also there. For embracing creativity you can be part of faces, aahwahan, rooh, beatbreakers and many more. So good use of college time hoping so in offline mode.
New academic building, fully equipped hightech.Boys mega hostels for 2nd & 3rd year single occupancy room with balcony! common room with tv, table tennis, volleyball basketball.Food quality comparatively good with variety in menu.Girls hostel are old,not well maintained 3-4 occupancy rooms in 1st year, then 2 occupancy rooms.Open campups in-time for girls is around 8pm. Labs not well maintained and equipped.Poor wi-fi network.Library with good WiFi.Poor medical facility. Available TMH medical car
Professors are knowledgeable and they try their best to teach you even in online mode. Overall curriculum is modern and nice covering all important aspects for placements. Some professor you might feel disappointing. If you are preparing for other competitive exams them professor here won't teach up to the mark. Administration here is not so work efficient but it has it's own profit, you'll get to know this in college:)
NIT JSR placement for Mechanical in CLASS OF 2021, 80/83 (96.5%) got placed with highest package of 16LPA with avg package 7.3LPA & median 6.5LPA.Companies recruiting(mechanical)are Vedana Lt.,Driver Logistic,Royal Enfield, Flipkart,TATA Steels, Bajaj, etc. Placements in core and IT is almost 50% for Mechanical. Packages offered in IT sector is a bit higher.Few companies won't allow core branch for IT jobs!Companies start visiting from 3rd year for internships. NIT Jsr tries for good placements.
Various events organised by different clubs helps lot. Facilities & administration is also up to the mark. Jsr is too a beautiful city, many places to visit. Overall you will enjoy your college life here!
Fest here are great and grand, you'll definitely enjoy this. Major 5 fests are there. Clubs of nit jsr are really appreciable, some clubs patrticiate in international events representing India and holding positions. You will learn time management, personality development from clubs. Alumni network of NIT Jsr is also very good and regular guidance session are organised.
A new academic building has been constructed on a budget of 130 crore ,there are various sports ground available in the college like cricket, basketball, football. Mechanical engineering lab equipments have been replaced with some new machines. There are 13 hostels in the college,9 for boys and 4 for girls.
I am pursuing BTech in mechanical engineering. You won't found any diversity in college because students are generally from Bihar ,UP,Jaharkhand .The professors here are not good with their english accent. Seniors are helpful.
Placement % for the year 2020 is around 92% also the placement of core branches are very impressive. 96.5% students of mechanical engineering has been placed . From civil branch 75% of the students is placed which is better than other nits.
The total cost for btech course is 8-9 lakh but there are many scholarship and fee remission is available on the basis of family income ,the cost reduces down to 4-5 lakh .
In the 1st year there are some restrictions,we need to be in your hostel room upto 7pm but from 2nd year you would be allowed to keep 2 wheeler vechile although it was not mentioned in the website.
The infrastructure of the college still needs to be developed. Recently a new academic building has been made of a huge budget of 130cr . There are various sports grounds available like cricket, hockey , basketball, football.
I am currently in mechanical engineering . The quality of professors is not good here . People from South who are not fluent with hindi will have difficulties in understanding the professors accent. Though , in all college there are some professors which are good and some are bad . So we all need to manage by ourselves
This is huge plus for the nit . The quality of placements is just remarkable. 92% of the students have been placed for the current year . In mechanical 96% of students have been place which is a exciting one for core Engineering where other colleges struggle placing their core students
In these government institutions like nit ,it there is lot of provision like fee remission, scholarships. Normally the fees for a year including mess and hostel is 216000 per year . But most of the students get fee remission on the basis of family annual income and it cost almost 1L-1.5L per year which is very less.
The campus life is a very chilled one here . In first year there is some restrictions that you need to be in your hostel room that upto 8 pm .
NIT Jamshedpur has a great infrastructure equipped with all latest technology in labs. Recently new academic building has been inaugurated which has fully furnished classrooms and other features. There is a mega hostel and a new mega canteen that provides clean and hygienic food. The campus is also very large, about 350 acres in outskirts of Jamshedpur.
All the teachers and lab assistants are highly qualified and trained. They are ready to assist students at any time and are very co- operative. There are also several technical teams that helps to get more practical knowledge in various niches like off-road car manufacture, aero designing, solar vehicles etc.
NIT Jamshedpur has excellent placement records. Since it is a college of national importance many MNCs visit the college for placements. Top MNCs like Amazon, Goldman Sachs etc. visit for CS jobs and for core branches TATA Steel, Jindal etc. visit the college and give good job offers.
It is definitely a value for money as there are plenty of opportunities to learn and grow as an engineer. The per semester fee not including hostel fee is around 90K. But the college also provides fee remission to some students under certain conditions.
The development of college Infrastructure is in progress. Although there is a lot of develop still. Recently, a new academic building is constructed on a huge budget of 130 crores. This building is one of the best in all engineering colleges in india. Labs and other equipments really need to develop.
I can tell you about my stream which is mechanical engineering. So, in any government or private institution you won't find the quality of education up to the mark. There is some positives and negatives. Here, some professors are really helpful and supportive but some just cannot be tolerated.
The placements of this college is a great plus which makes this college stand out among the other. The average package for the year 2021 batch is 9.38L. The computer science branch average package was 15.24L and that of mechanical it was 7.3L. The placement percentage was 92%.
Studying in this college is absolutely worth it. Because there are many scholarships or fee remission schemes available like if your family income is less than 5L and greater than 1L then 2/3 rd of tuition fee is remitted and if less than 1L full tuition fee is remitted. The ROI factor is very good of this college
The campus life is great in this college. In 1st year there is some restrictions like till 8 pm you should be within your hostel but from 2nd year there is no restriction . You can just roam around the campus till midnight also
Best Institute with proper infrastructure and all necessary facilities, wifi, labs , hostel ,mess , canteen , health facilities , Sports ground , badminton court , volleyball space and many more. Over all its a best experience to be a part of NIT Jamshedpur.
About it's academics I would say it's one the best faculty we have there. And curriculum is also best and Updated one . obviously while studying there u will get tendency to easily crack any company interview and get desirable job.
Placement is one the best one , almost every student get placed . only u have to be dedicated else institute provide various companies to came for campus placement as well as internships ,in top most companies .
Infrastructure Planning and Development is one of the administrative units of NIT Jamshedpur that is responsible for planning, design, construction, renovation, maintenance and development of all infrastructural facilities in the Institute campus including buildings, roads, walkways, sports grounds, water supply and distribution networks, power supply and transmission systems, internet and Wi-Fi services, sewerage systems, cleaning and waste disposal systems, transport system etc.
I'm a student of NIT JAMSHEDPUR and now' I'm pursuing b.tech from metallurgical and Materials Engg. Here focus on study are well mannered.. Every professor give their efforts and teaches everything in simple manner ways .
Here the placements are very good IT sector as well as core branch also maintain good placements..Here in 2020 the highest package from Core branch...The average package every year around 9-10 lack/yr..
Value of money is also too Good...This is fully maintenance by the government.
Very very outstanding campus life..here Institute, with 200 faculty, 4000 students, 150 administrative and supporting staff, is a self-contained campus. It is located on the outskirts of Jamshedpur on 341.3 acres of sprawling, rolling hilly, wooded land..
Very super place... located in greeny area..
Yes, almost everything. We just had a new amazing academic building which is huge. The new classrooms have ac and all necessary required things. we have single rooms from the second year and only two persons for the first year to live in a room. The space is mostly clean other than holidays.
I am studying metallurgy because I got it. The quality of teaching is good in most sections but sometimes teachers just go through the ppts so one needs to be active in academics too. Lastly, an active candidate is ready for job as the hectic schedule made him for it.
The main parts come here, we may not have the best infrastructure but here you can get placed if u have the slightest. chance too. In metallurgy, almost everyone gets placed but needs to study accordingly. Avg salary for meta is around 6 LPA. I haven't had the chance for placement yet but I can say it is good.
Per year around 2 lakhs and extra your pocket money depends on u.
campuss life is also good so no worries.
Few years back infrastructure was not that good but now it is improving day by day. Mega hostels and new academic building are very good. With the improvement in infrastructure the Institute education methodology is also improving with a great pace.
Mechanical engineering is one of the biggest department of NIT jamshedpur. It is the best branch of the college. All the professors are highly qualified. The peer group here is awesome and will always keep you motivated.
Placements in mechanical branch is very good. Most of the students gets placed in core companies with a decent package. Most of the core companies of india visit for campus placements. Institute being in an industrial area give more benefits to students.
It is an Institute of national importance and definitely value for money. I you are getting a seat here don't let it go.
Campus life is good. Jamshedpur is not a metro city so places to visit are quite less.
It is one of the premier Institute of India and will progress more in near future.
With a SC rank of 18,188 under the Home State quota, it's unlikely you'll get any branch at NIT Jamshedpur, as the closing ranks for SC category are much lower (around 9,900 for the lowest branches).
Alternatives:
1. Other NITs: Look at newer NITs with higher SC category cutoffs (e.g., NIT Arunachal Pradesh, NIT Nagaland).
2. CSAB Special Round: You can try for leftover seats in NITs or IIITs.
3. State Colleges: State government colleges may have more relaxed cutoffs.
4. Private Universities: Institutions like LPU, Chandigarh University, or UPES may be options.
While taking a gap year due to your father's illness is understandable, it might pose some challenges during placements.
Companies often prioritize consistent academic performance and a structured college experience. A gap year might raise questions in the minds of recruiters. However, this doesn't mean you cannot excel in placements.
Key factors to consider:
Focus on building a strong profile through academics, internships, projects, and soft skills. Your ability to effectively communicate your experiences and demonstrate your potential will be crucial in overcoming any initial reservations.
hope this helps you!!
Hello,
If you are a student from Delhi, you should enrol in CSE at IGDTUW; however, if you are from another state, you should enrol in ECE at NIT Jamshedpur. Both, however, provide a fantastic placement facility. IGDTUW charges less in tuition than NIT Jamshedpur. IGDTUW is the place to enrol if you're interested in college life, while NIT Jamshedpur is where you should enrol if you want to receive an exceptional education. The faculty of NIT Jamshedpur is superior than that of IGDTUW.
You need to have both an ECE and CS degree if you want to work in the IT sector.
And you can choose ECE if you wish to work in core ECE positions.
Thank You
