The campus is beautiful and full of green spaces, which made it easy to relax and enjoy the outdoors between classes. The professors were incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to go the extra mile to help students succeed. There are plenty of extracurricular activities to choose from, including sports teams, clubs, and volunteer opportunities. Overall, we have a great experience at college.
I am currently studying mechanical engineering because it has always been a passion of mine. The quality of teaching has been exceptional so far. The professors are knowledgeable and always willing to help. As far as the curriculum goes, I do believe that it is updated and includes all the recent developments in the field. I feel confident that what I am learning will make me job-ready upon graduation.
Hi there! I attended Nit Silchar, and I must say that the quality of placements was pretty good. As far as I know, around 80% of the students were placed, which is quite impressive. The highest salary package offered was around 20 LPA, and it went to a student from the CSE department. The average salary offered was around 6-7 LPA, which is quite decent, I think Speaking from personal experience, the placement process was quite smooth and hassle-free. The college was really supportive.
Hi there! I'm happy to help you out with your question. Students are charged about 30k for those below 1 lakh income and 50k for 1-5 lakh income and around 75k for those above 5 lakh income.
As a student at NIT Silchar, I can confidently say that our campus is both beautiful and functional. The best feature is definitely the natural surroundings, with lush greenery and a serene atmosphere that makes studying and living here a joy. However, one downside is the lack of modern facilities, which can be frustrating at times. In terms of activities, there is always something going on at NIT Silchar. Whether you're interested in sports, music, or social events, there is a club or society.
Nit Silchar is a public engineering institute located in Silchar, Assam, India. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various fields of engineering, science, and humanities. The campus is spread over 625 acres and provides state-of-the-art facilities to its students. If you have any specific questions or queries, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to provide you with the information you need.
It is pretty good. Spacious with a fully digitalized central library and an advanced computing centre, NIT Silchar makes into the top NITs in terms of its infrastructures and facilities. However, the internet speed at some of the hostels is below average ranging from about 0.5 MBPS to about 1 MBPS. The internet speeds at the library and computer centres are quite satisfactory though.
This is a question which will definitely receive mixed reactions. Of course the academics are quite good. But the class durations sometimes becomes quite hectic. And there are a few professors who actually are good at teaching. The rest of them can be just rated as average in terms of colleges. One can do everything in the campus, just they need to maintain a 75% attendance.
Check the official website and judge the placement scenario accordingly. While the average is a fairly decent 15-24 LPA, the highest touches to about 80 LPA (just rough figures as per current statistics). Almost every big tech company visits the campus during the placement season.
While its a government college, it does become expensive for many. Although many scholarships are provided because of which the middle class and economically weaker sections can now afford such fees.
Campus life is awesome. You might require a cycle to explore the whole campus of about 650 acres. Its beauty is more exaggerated by the beautiful lakes inside the campus. Furthermore the lush green trees make the campus a heaven for the students. Not only that, the college has various club activities going on almost every month of the year which helps the students to follow their passions apart from engineering.
Overall, the college is one of the best in the country. However, there might be some geographical disadvantages since Silchar is located in a fairly remote corner of the country. The local people are quite nice and friendly though. Also there are no language barriers here since hindi is widespoken in this region. The college demographics is also quite diverse and is a home away from home for students of various languages and states.
We have not that much good laboratories and network system ,food is also not that much good ,campus is clean and green ,hostel rooms are good and hostels are also very clean ,we have gym also but there is lack of equipments
I am in mechanical engineering department and I am having intrest in mechanical engineering department that is why I have choosen mechanical branch ,quality of teaching is good ,yes my study makes my job ready
quality of placements in my college is good ,I think so in mechanical engineering 90% seniors were placed and highest salary was 40 lpa around( till I know) ,computer science engineering got the highest package
My course cost per year is one lakh eighty thousand ,Yes I am getting my money's worth because teaching styles and quality is ok and return of investment is also perfect because of the placement rates and companies
College campus is 5/5 ,It is perfect ,college campus is spreaded in 625 acres with full of green lives ,students can engage themselves in football, cricket ,volleyball, basketball, tenis, badminton and chess also ,yes it can perfectly handle emergencies
The infrastructure facility of the college is just ok . 1st and 4th year hostels are the best hostel of the institute . The cricket and gym facility are worst here . But FOOTBALL facility is quite good . the classroom is also not as good as other institutes .
Academics is just average here . Most of the teachers are eager to teach students and they teach quite better than other institutes . but here comes the dean part of the college , the dean of this college is really strict here .
The placements of this college is quit impressive as compared to the other institutes . The placements of core branches are far better than other nits of the nation .A student may take core path or tech path according to his/her choice .
The institute offers decent infrastructure. The Old buildings need some makeover but the more recent structures like The Library, New Gallery, and CS labs are in excellent condition. The labs are also quite excellent with a myriad of equipment. The hostels are also decent, they have good lighting and ventilation, and there are water filters on every other floor. The washrooms could be better though.
I am pursuing my bachelor's degree in Electronics and Instrumentation as it offers to teach me something which has fascinated me since 8th grade. The teachers of the EIE department have excellent qualifications and plenty of teaching experience. They are also open to receiving your personal doubts via E-mails. The curriculum contains a lot of things that I feel are not related to the end goal in the first year, but all in all, it is fairly recent with the latest update in 2018.
The placements are absolutely top-notch here. 90% of the students found campus placements. The highest package was 80 LPA and was offered to a CSE grad. The college average CTC stands at 14.39 LPA and the median at 12.61 LPA. The T&P cell takes great care of the entire procedure and is ready to support you at any time.
The B.tech course at NIT Silchar is worth it as it offers a great ROI. The hostels and mess fees here are quite affordable and you will get your money's worth here. The food is decent here, the campus is clean, there are free busses every evening to Silchar city, the Football fields and cricket grounds are well maintained and the gym is well equipped.
One of the best aspects of this college is its campus life. With its huge area of 625 acres and more than 20 lakes, you will get your fair share of nature here. Also, there are multiple events going on inside the campus held by different societies and clubs of the college most of the time, you will hardly ever feel bored. The campus is completely covered with street lights, and the backup generator starts working about 30 seconds into the power cuts, so the campus is always well-lit at night.
Choosing this college was one of my life's best decisions. It gave me the freedom as well as the platform to try my hand at anything and everything I was interested in. The environment of the college is such that it does not stigmatise failure but congratulates you that you tried, and discovered a bit more about yourself. The schedule is such that you get time after your studies to hang out with your friends and the location is such that you can eat out if you want. Its great to be here .
The infrastructure is not so good, maximum equipment are faulty for 1st year laboratories. The buildings and classes are well maintained. They are neat and clean. We have the largest digital Library of Asia.
Classes are conducted from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, so we are unable to focus on extra curriculum. The classes are boring and useless because in the end of the day we have to study from youtube or any other sources.
The placement is very good. The highest placement was 80 lpa (CSE dept). For ECE department the highest placement was 52.8 lpa, and average placement was 17.05 lpa with a median placement of 14.49 lpa.
The infrastructure of the college is good and maintained. And yes there is lan connection inside the hostel .There are are old and new class rooms new class rooms have installed desktop with projectors and all classes have chalk board . Library is also good, it has necessary books for the courses offered by the college and some magazines only. Wifi is also available inside library. Food in the hostel is so-so at first day it will be good but they don't maintain the quality and hygine with time.
I am studying civil engineering btech . The quality of teachers are ok, but u have to study on your own. Yes our curriculum is updated and includes recent developments and it makes u job ready. Academic is quite strict here.
The placements in cse, ece, electrical are good. Nearly 3/4 of the students get placed As I am currently in my first unfortunately I cannot answer the rest. You can search for the placement scenarios online or you can go to the website to check it out.
The value for is good , but the only problem here is the lan speed it's not good it always breaks down and speed is slow too. Except for that everything is good.
Campus life is good, as it gives good exposure you can access your skills here. Students can engage in sports, academics, music, dance, finance, programming , various others activities as they all have their respective clubs. Now about location, so it not a good place on terms of location and connectivity is difficult too. But yes hospitals are nearby so while emergencies it will be useful. But for students from outside it will be quite difficult to manage.
The peaceful campus life is good for studying.
GOOD IN ACADEMIC BUILDINGS AND LABS BUT LACKS IN SPORTS FACILITY AND INFRASTRUCTURE ,THE NEW BUILDINGS ARE GOOD BUT THE OLD ONES ARE NOT IN GOOD CONDITION.LIBRARY,CDAC AND CC LAB ARE BUILT WITH MODERN INFRASTRUCTURE.
THE CURRICULUM NEEDS TO BE UPDATED AS THE SAME ONE IS BEING FOLLOWED SINCE 2018.THE UPCOMING BATCH COMING IN 2023 WILL NOT FACE ANY PROBLEM AS TIME WOULD BE ENOUGH.THERE IS MIX IN IN THE TEACHNG STYLE OF PROFESSORS WHILE SOME ARE GOOD AND SOME NEEDS UPDATION.
THE PLACEMENT OF THE COLLEGE HAS GONE UP AND UP ONLY .THE PLACEMENTS OF ALL THE BRANCHES ARE GOOD AND OVERALL PLACEMENT IS AROUND 90 PERCENT WITH AVERAGE PACKAGE AROUND 12LAKH. AND THE PLACEMENTS WILL GO ON INCREASING.
The Institute provides an outstanding infrastructure in most areas but in most old buildings there is need of work to be done. Library , CDAC and innovation lab are built very nicely this are places where you will spend most of your time in summer.
Same curriculum is being followed since 2018. Faculty in the ECE department are one of the best you will get in NIT Silchar . The curriculum is currently heavy but when 2023 batch comes it will be way lighter than the present batch.
The current placement stats here are much better than many NITs and even some IITs. Overall highest placement was 80 LPA, the average placement of ECE department was 17.05 LPA with highest package of 52.8 LPA.
The B.Tech course in NIT Silchar is definitely worth it. Its much more affordable compared to many other colleges. Its hostel fees are much cheaper than most NITs still provide a good hostel environment.
It's somewhere in between good and bad , I mean the internet speed is very slow and the buildings are quite old as well but the library is quite great for study purposes. In conclusion it's okayish for a student
We have classes from 8 am to 6 pm almost everyday which is very annoying. Since we do not get enough time for other activities and the system is very rigid with it's rules so ir becomes very difficult for student to survive this Institute academically.
Placement in my branch is quite good, the placement percentage is also quite good for my branch I.e. electronics and instrumentation engineering branch. A lot of companies come to our institution. In conclusion great placement.
Great experience as student except for academic point of view.
Hello
With an NTA score of 49.7446 in JEE Main and belonging to the ST category, your chances of securing admission to NIT Silchar depend on the specific branch and seat availability.
Admission cutoffs vary annually based on factors like the number of applicants, exam difficulty and seat availability. For the most accurate information, it's advisable to refer to the official JoSAA website or NIT Silchar's official admissions page.
Hope this gives you the clarity you need.
Both NIT Patna and NIT Silchar are reputed for Civil Engineering, but the better choice depends on various factors. NIT Patna has an advantage in location, with better industry exposure and internship opportunities due to its proximity to major construction hubs. It also has strong faculty and research opportunities. NIT Silchar, however, boasts a larger, greener campus and strong placement records, especially in government and PSU sectors. If you prefer better connectivity and internships, NIT Patna is ideal. For a peaceful campus with solid academics, NIT Silchar is a great option. Both offer good career prospects in civil engineering.
Hi
hope you doing well
Whilw having a score of 81.12% in Jee mains, and belonging to the S C category, you have a chance of getting admission into NIT Silchar under the SC quota. The cutoffs for SC candidates are generally lower than those for the General category.
However, admission to specific branches like CSE or ECE might still be challenging, as these branches have higher cutoffs. You are more likely to secure a seat in branches like Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering.
The exact cutoffs vary year by year, but based on previous trends, your percentile puts you in contention for certain branches.
