Our hostel is awesome. Radhakrishanan Bhawan has free unlimited Wi-Fi, LAN, gym, canteen, TV room, elevator, indoor game complex, etc. The department of mathematics has a library, free Wi-Fi, and great supportive professors. The quality of food served in the hostel was average. But breakfast used to be great at our time. Classes are conducted in the lecture hall complex, which was at a distance of 10-15 minutes from our hostel.
Teachers are highly intelligent, and their quality is as par course. They are really helpful in our courses. The course curriculum is great, and even a lot of core branches students take our courses as additional. Semester exams are not that tough to pass. If a student takes classes seriously and studies for a decent amount of time, then they can easily get good grades.
majority of students from our batch got placed in reputed companies. The highest salary package offered was 40 LPA, and the average salary package offered was 10 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Adobe, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft India, Mastercard, JP Morgan, Oracle, Oyo, TCS, Wipro, etc., visit the college for placements. Almost all students got placed. Some students opted for higher studies, and some went for civil services exam preparation. We PhD student got many opportunities in companion.
All the facilities are very helpful
The facilities and infrastructure available for my course, like Wi-Fi, are pretty good. Labs are fully equipped with new instruments; the library is full of books and digital libraries too. The classroom is way big enough to be totally aired. The quality of hostels is good; new hostels are the best. They have better facilities than the old ones. But the old ones are getting renovated. Mess food quality depends on the day. It's mostly good,Canteen food is much more tasty than mess food. Students depend on canteen food.
Teachers are really qualified. All have done Ph.D.s from foreign universities. And they totally qualified. But they are helpful all the time. Some are helpful, but you can't expect everyone to be.course is relevant if you want to go into the Engineering field. But not in the teaching field. Exams that are difficult are average. majority it depends on proffs. Almost 90% student students pass the exams.
the placements are good when compared also gets good placements More than 85% students get placed in campus placements, which are held mostly between march and April. The top companies like Reliance, Tcs, Wipro, BSNL, etc. will come to hire us Nitwians. Also, many students get placed in IT companies as well. In 3rd year, we go for internships, as internships are necessary for college CGPA. Also, most students also go for research rather than internships as per their interests. Top roles like service engineer, telecom engineer, electronics engineer, and network planning engineer also offered by companies.
The infrastructure facilities are too good here and with well maintainance. It's one of the oldest buildings on campus. Labs are new and good. The Wi-Fi facility is good in the hostel and on campus. The library is very old and has a vast variety of books. Hostel rooms are quite congested and old. Food was average and really good There will be a special dinner every month. Sports activity is a must in the first year, and medical facilities are good.
Coming to the teaching facilities are very helpful they are highly qualified and experienced.the faculty members are generally well-qualified and experienced, holding advanced degrees from prestigious institutions. Exams are generally challenging, designed to test a deep understanding of the subject matter. The exams often include a mix of theoretical questions, problem-solving exercises, and practical assessments.
Placements were good till last year in my course. Now they have reduced. The average package this year has even reduced. Placements this year are not good. The highest package was being 88 Lacs, and from our branch was around 50 LPA. Recruiting companies include Google, Microsoft, Wipro, and so on. Students get good internships from good companies.
Every pupil. Additionally, research facilities are up to par. Libraries are subjected with an abundance of literature in every subject. And laboratories are well-equipped. Both hostels and LHCs are immaculately kept and offer excellent study spaces.
Faculty members have strong domain expertise and are well competent in their fields. Every year, new technology is added to maintain the standard of education. When we join the companies, the courses won't aid the students. And all the faculty are highly graduated.
Nearly 85% of students in the every stream are placed. Some students favour higher education. The quality of placements at IITR is excellent, with leading firms like Microsoft, supportive placement and internship cells, and 87% of candidates are placed across all the fields.
For phd it's best college
Facilities at IIT Roorkee are unlimited Wi-Fi, well-furnished classes, and well-ventilated central library. Well-developed labs and central gym for both girls and boys, swimming pool, and sports facilities are available.
All professors have excellent qualifications, have studied at reputable colleges (mostly IITians), have a good nature, and are not rude to anyone (however you can find some). The exams are not difficult either; one can manage by studying the night before.
85% students are placed in IIT Roorkee. Top recruiting companies are Tata, ICICI Bank, Indian Bank, and others. Top roles are manager and others. And there are good placements and good career prospects in Tata Group, as well as in companies like BHEL and ONGC. Additionally, information teaches basic health care.
Great college and best facilities are there with good placement.
It has a great location in Roorkee (the whole town of Roorkee was actually built around IIT Roorkee). There were good food options available inside. There are lot of heritage buildings to see within the campus and it is great for a nice walk.
Students gain the knowledge with practical guidance given by the faculty management members.and they are highly qualified professionals with doctorate degrees. Teachers are helpful in teaching all concepts, with 5 to 15 years of experience. They teach well, and the course is relevant, making students industry-ready and providing hands-on experience
The highest can goes to 28 lakh minimum to 9 lakh. Top recruiting companies are Gartener, HMC, Bajaj, HUL, Godrej etc. Students got internship in companies like aeris, Abbot, bajaj, Wipro CCL, Godrej consumer, hcl, cisco etc.
Yes college is value for money.
Life was campus is good
Nothing
IIT Roorkee has a great infrastructure with buildings big enough to accommodate all the students and it has all the necessary amenities like labs and ground and the equipment is also not the worst but as the equipment needs some improvements.
Teachers are teaching all concepts, with 5 to 15 years of experience. They teach well, and the course is relevant, making students industry-ready and providing hands-on experience. The exams are very much hard and it's little bit difficult to pass.
The placement of IIT Roorkee is very much nice the package like start from 15 lacs onwards which was very nice. The highest package goes up to 60 to 65 lacs. The placement cell is doing regular improvement and analysis the market condition.
The from my side the college is value for money.
Life at campus was enjoying and fun.
Nothing
IIT Roorkee has one of the greenest and cleanest campuses out of all IITs. It has a great location in Roorkee (the whole town of Roorkee was actually built around IIT Roorkee). There were good food options available inside. There are lot of heritage buildings to see within the campus and it is great for a nice walk.
If I'll talk about the academic of Indian Institute of technology Roorkee is very nice . This is the second course that I'm doing from here. Faculties are well educated and experienced. And course curriculum is very nice.
Roorkee does get better placements as compared to Jodhpur but ofc not as good as Delhi or Mumbai. The college placement is decent; mostly visiting companies are start ups and it provides a basic salary like 4 to 5 lacs. As per fees, the college is overall good, but one bad thing is that there is a mandatory 75 percent attendance rate
IIT Roorkee is the nice college and provide the best services to students class rooms are good with technical projector and black screen board.the environment is so peaceful and relaxing atmosphere condition here.the overall facilities are good and with new implementation development also provided.
The academics is good and teachers are great the students gain the knowledge with practical guidance given by the faculty management members.and they are highly qualified professionals with doctorate degrees.students can innovatively create the ideas that can helpful to future.
The placement is good approx the 50 to 60 percent placed for college. The average salary package can be found on the college website, this year, we saw more product management roles, which were also again one of the most offered roles on the campus.
The college is having good value for money.
The campus life is overall nice.
Nothing else.
The facilities and infrastructure are well-designed. Wi-Fi facilities connect labs and classrooms. The library has a wide range of books. The canteen serves Chinese, North Indian, and South Indian cuisine, providing the best food.
The teachers are helpful in teaching all concepts, with 5 to 15 years of experience. They teach well, and the course is relevant, making students industry-ready and providing hands-on experience. However, semester exams are challenging to pass.
College is good at providing campus placements. The students get placed in top companies. The highest package offered is more than 50 LPA per annum and the lowest package is 20 LPA per annum with an average package of 15 LPA. The top companies visiting our college are Wipro, Google, etc.
Great campus and very nice college for study.
Hi dear candidate,
Both of these are IITs and hold their own reputation but still there are few differences:
If we talk about placements, then it is to be noted that Hyderabad is an IT hub and IIT Hyderabad is known to have higher packages in mechanical field.
ALL THE BEST !
Comparing IIT Roorkee Mechanical and IIT Ropar Mechanical in terms of MNC placements:
IIT Roorkee has a long-established reputation with strong industry ties and typically sees higher placement rates and some very high salary offers in Mechanical. Many top MNCs like Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs visit regularly.
IIT Ropar is newer but growing fast, with good connections to big MNCs too. Their average packages are competitive, especially in core branches, and companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google also recruit here.
But On Bottom line:
For Mechanical specifically, Roorkee generally has a slight edge in MNC placements and packages due to its longer legacy and network. But Ropar is catching up and offers great opportunities with some big names too.
Both are solid choices — if you want a more established brand and higher chances of top MNCs, go Roorkee. If you want to be part of a newer IIT with growing opportunities, Ropar is good too.
Candidates must have completed a B.E./B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institute.
A minimum of 60% aggregate marks (or 6.0 CGPA out of 10) is generally required. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, a relaxation of 5% is usually applicable.
A valid GATE score in Mechanical Engineering (ME) is essential for regular admission.
Candidates who have completed their B.Tech from any IIT with a high CGPA (usually above 8.0 or 8.5) may be eligible for direct admission without a GATE score.
For IIT Roorkee and IIT Kanpur, this provision mainly applies to IIT B.Tech graduates.
Through COAP Portal:
After qualifying GATE, candidates must register on the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). Offers for M.Tech admission are communicated through COAP based on GATE scores.
Application to IITs Separately:
Candidates must also apply separately on the official websites of IIT Roorkee and IIT Kanpur for M.Tech programs. Personal, academic, and GATE details must be filled carefully.
Direct admission is mostly offered based on GATE scores without any interviews or written tests for regular M.Tech programs.
For some specializations or research-based M.Tech programs, candidates might be called for a written test or interview.
The Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department offers various M.Tech specializations.
High GATE scorers typically get direct admission into the program.
The Mechanical Engineering Department offers a two-year M.Tech program with strong research exposure.
Selection is primarily through GATE scores. In some cases, written tests or interviews may be conducted depending on the specialization.
Admission notifications are usually released around March to April every year.
Required documents include GATE scorecard, academic certificates, identity proof, and category certificates (if applicable).
M.Tech students usually receive a stipend of Rs 12,400 per month under the Ministry of Education norms after GATE qualification.
COAP conducts multiple rounds for offer acceptance, so candidates must regularly check the portal for updates.
