In IIT Roorkee all facilities are good . Like as very good internet speed of wifi as well as hostels. Labs are fully updated. All hostels have individual mess in which they provide lunch , dinner as well as breakfast. Breakfast is very good and includes a lot of items. Sports facilities are also very good in IIT Roorkee. Al types of sports are present there.
In 1st year academic is more boring dur to English , psychology and environmental study. In IIT Roorkee branch change policy is also available at the end of 1st semester. The academic competition is more high than other IITs . There is lectures , tutorials and practical.
Being a IIT, IIT Roorkee placement is very good and about ? placement. Highest package in this year is 1.54 crore to 3 students. One from cse , 2nd from electronic communication and 3rd from engineering physics. In IIT Roorkee more students focus on coding. So the coding environment in IIT Roorkee is very high. Avg package is about 14 lakh.
One year fee is about 2 lakh (tution)+ 65 thousand (hostel+mess+other ) . Total- 265000 pa. I fell that my fees is not waste because here is more expensive equipment that are available very easily. Library's facilities is also very good and expensive.
Campus Life is very good in IIT Roorkee. There are many groups cultural as well as technical. In groups we learn more things and enjoy a lot of. Some professor are bad but a lot of professors are very supportive they tried that all students got internship in a good company. Location is not much good because nearest airport is about 190 km . But for tourism this iit is very good . Students go on mountains for tour.
I experienced that student think before JEE that if he got IIT then he will not be study but this is purely wrong.
IIT Roorkee possesses one of the best infrastructures in the country. Never has any students & alumnis faced lack of any necessity. Hostels, sports centres, labs of respective departments etc, all of have made our stay here the best. Special mention to our library has a top class environment & computers, e-books, e-journals facilities to promote researches & studies. Known for highest internet speed, WiFi exist in entire campus to enable an easy stay for fellow students.
My branch is production & industrial eng. the branch curriculum might be a little obsolete but our professors ensures they capture the interest of pupils because of which I really enjoy the courses of my branch. The curriculum is updated as per the latest developments in the field. At present as a first yearite it's difficult to say that we are ready for a job or not, but the quality of education surely gives me a belief that it's the most perfect way to prepare a juvenile for a job.
Well for IITs if you want placement there are more than 90% chances that you will get it and is higher than other colleges. Three of students get Rs 1.54 Cr from electronics, computer science and engineering and physics stream. The campus is very supportive and pleasant for placement process. Average salary is about 13,20,000.
Being a government college it must be value for money but we all know b.tech. cost alot. Fee charged per semester(first year) tution fee - 1,00,000.00 , hostel and mess fee - 32,500.00 . You oull also get full tution fee waiver if you belong to sc/st caste or having financial issues and partial fee waiver is also available which is quite affordable and worthy.
College campus overflows with opportunities in every field one wants to engage in. Cultural groups include choreography, music section, debating society, dramatics, literary & sci-fi magazine groups official media body etc give a real feel of how these activities function in real life apart from that Data science groups, groups for competitive coding and web development exists to learn apart from course curriculum as per one's interest to develop the requisite skill set. Best campus life.
Excellent infrastructure with sixteen+ hostel and messes. Twenty two departments in total. One of the finest centre of attraction the james thompson builing also called the white house of india build in year 1857.
I am a prefinal year chemical engineering undergradute student. The cirriculum here is good, covering the depths pf research and innovative expects. Students are also given proper lab and industral exposures and labs.
The training and placement office do well but can do even better when compared to several sister IITs. One of the drawback in terms of placement is its location which is a hindrance for many officials to take on campus interviews.
The best part of the college life you get to live
IITR has one of best campuses in India. Labs of IITR have almost all the equipment required to carry out high quality research. Apart from the facility required for experimental research, IITR also has softwares and tools for theoretical research.
I am doing PhD in the department of chemical engineering as I wish to pursue a career in teaching in some reputed Institute. The department has experienced professors with both theoretical and experimental background.
Though the placements for B.Tech. graduates are good, the percentage is not satisfactory for M.Tech. and PhD students. Particularly for PhD, few reputed colleges visit IITR for placement and offer jobs to certain deserving scholars.
Hi dear candidate,
Both of these are IITs and hold their own reputation but still there are few differences:
If we talk about placements, then it is to be noted that Hyderabad is an IT hub and IIT Hyderabad is known to have higher packages in mechanical field.
ALL THE BEST !
Comparing IIT Roorkee Mechanical and IIT Ropar Mechanical in terms of MNC placements:
IIT Roorkee has a long-established reputation with strong industry ties and typically sees higher placement rates and some very high salary offers in Mechanical. Many top MNCs like Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs visit regularly.
IIT Ropar is newer but growing fast, with good connections to big MNCs too. Their average packages are competitive, especially in core branches, and companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google also recruit here.
But On Bottom line:
For Mechanical specifically, Roorkee generally has a slight edge in MNC placements and packages due to its longer legacy and network. But Ropar is catching up and offers great opportunities with some big names too.
Both are solid choices — if you want a more established brand and higher chances of top MNCs, go Roorkee. If you want to be part of a newer IIT with growing opportunities, Ropar is good too.

A valid GATE score in Mechanical Engineering (ME) is essential for regular admission.
Candidates who have completed their B.Tech from any IIT with a high CGPA (usually above 8.0 or 8.5) may be eligible for direct admission without a GATE score.
For IIT Roorkee and IIT Kanpur, this provision mainly applies to IIT B.Tech graduates.

Direct admission is mostly offered based on GATE scores without any interviews or written tests for regular M.Tech programs.
For some specializations or research-based M.Tech programs, candidates might be called for a written test or interview.
The Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department offers various M.Tech specializations.
High GATE scorers typically get direct admission into the program.
The Mechanical Engineering Department offers a two-year M.Tech program with strong research exposure.
Selection is primarily through GATE scores. In some cases, written tests or interviews may be conducted depending on the specialization.
Admission notifications are usually released around March to April every year.
Required documents include GATE scorecard, academic certificates, identity proof, and category certificates (if applicable).
