In terms of infrastructure, facilities IIT Bombay is one of the best college in country. College has fully air conditioned classrooms wit LCD screens library is like user focused, innovative and excellence driven. Library has collection of more then 4.4lakh items which is used by more then 11000 members and others. IIT Bombay provide excellent opportunity to explore sports aslo with trainers and coaches in every sports. There are 18 hostels with all facilities (study room,TV room, music room).
I’m pursuing electrical engineering because it’s best institute of our country in the field of engineering.teaching is one of the best in country professor’s are very intellectual and doing research in their field along with classes they constantly trying to stay in contact with students. And curriculum is well updated and includes recent development in the field which is plus point for students for getting jobs IIT Bombay also provides P.H.D program for undergraduate Students.
IIT Bombay is known for best placements in country more then 80% students got placement some students choose yo pursue higher education also.salary depends on the knowledge of student average salary of IIT Bombay is about 10 lPA. Placement process is quite good their is a placement ell of IIT Bombay which helps students in every aspect college is also supportive if someone needs any help college will try to resolve issues.
Since IIT Bombay is a government institution so their are different fees criteria for various category students for a general category students fees is about 3lakh per and most of the students got scholarship. I think fees is quite high as compared to other government institutions may be it’s because of quality of education that provide IITs but students can get student loan easily with easier repayment hurdles which makes it quite easy to pursu education from IITs
IIT Bombay is a small township in itself spread in a area of 550arcs. Conned with financial capital of India. Environment is good with almost no pollution and green campus their is nothing such thing as worst in IIT Bombay everything is quite good. Their are lot of things happening all around. IIT Bombay students organise Asia’s largest cultural and tech. college festival called MOOD INDIGO and Tech fest. IIT Bombay has its own hospital and it’s most safest campus of INDIA with less restrictions
All the resources are available inside the Institute(from basic needs, fruit store, stationery to tailor, parlor, cafe, bank, post office). There are two banks and atms near hostel area. Gymkhana and different sports are well-equipped and flourishing and adding new sports every semester. All the hostels are provided with all facilities. Old hostels are under re-modellation. Libraries are spacious and have all the books relevant(even more than sufficient). Even have reading hall for night study.
In first year, all students have same courses and one deparment course which gives exposure to every aspects which helps students to change the course if they wish to(based on cpi criteria). I am pursuing degree in B.S. economics. I feel the professors of my department and our departmental council work very efficiently. Professors are really supportive. The whole course plan is discussed on the very first day and lectures and additional sources are uploaded at its earliest with open doubt portal
Placement cell works very hard and gives many opportunities for internship and jobs. Bt placements mainly depends on students. How hard they prepare for interviews is only important. Few seniors of mine(average student in aerospace department) got the package 28.9 lacs with gives me the idea for the placement of other students and other core branches. "It depends only on you".College gives only a better platform and more number of companies. Although it is cherry on the top of your potential.
There are many resources in the college ,no doubt. But only sports and gym are available for free. For transportation you need to pay. For food you need to pay. Only mess advance I feel is value for money. Fee for one semester is nearly 1.5 lacs. There are many resources like laboratories, juice centres, placement cells, e cells, different cultural clubs. But honestly you won't get enough time to do much in these things. Because every second week aur every month you will have quiz, test, lab, exams
Don't imagine life as shown in " Chichhore". Beside GC also there is a life. But yes, you'll have such friends, hostel life(not ragging against your will) shown in the movie. But yes, with great place you'll have great duties and responsibilities. Staffs will respect you and are supportive. College life is safe and very liberal. No restrictions on timing for hostel.
If you are mentally very stable(if no home-sickness) , it will be an amazing life. Cultural activities are amazing. In every semester. We have many events like dj night, salsa night, garba night, kurta day etc.
Dear Sir/Madam,
The features of IIT Bombay in Metallurgy/Material science:
The features of IIT Dhanbad in Electronics and communication Engineering:
Both colleges are good and the choice is yours.choose wisely based on your goals and interest.
If you want the IIT Bombay tag and switching career like software/MBA/Analytics can go for Metallurgy at IIT Bombay.
If you have more interest in Tech side and want flexibility in Tech core can go for ECE at IIT Dhanbad.
If you passed 12th in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) in 2023, you need to study PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Math) to be eligible for BTech in IIT Bombay through JEE Advanced. You can join 12th again with PCM subjects in 2024 and appear for JEE Main and Advanced after passing. This way, you become eligible because math is compulsory for engineering. So yes, you can do 12th again with PCM and then try for IIT through JEE. Keep working hard!
Let's break down your options:
Current Situation
- You've scored 98.67 in JEE Mains 2025, which might not be enough to secure a seat in IIT Bombay for B.Tech.
- However, you're likely to get a seat in NIT Surathkal for EEE or ECE.
Option 1: Pursue B.Tech in NIT Surathkal
- Pros:
- You'll get a good undergraduate degree from a reputable institution.
- You can focus on academics, research, and extracurricular activities.
- Cons:
- You might feel that you're not in your dream college (IIT Bombay).
Option 2: Take a Drop Year for JEE Advanced 2026
- Pros:
- You might improve your score and secure a seat in IIT Bombay for B.Tech.
- IIT Bombay is a prestigious institution with excellent resources and opportunities.
- Cons:
- There's no guarantee that you'll improve your score or get into IIT Bombay.
- You'll have to prepare for another intense exam season.
Option 3: Pursue M.Tech from MIT (Manipal Institute of Technology)
- Pros:
- MIT offers a good M.Tech program with various specializations.
- You can gain expertise in your chosen field and enhance your career prospects.
- Cons:
- You'll need to complete your B.Tech before applying for M.Tech.
- You might need to take entrance exams like GATE or MET.
Considerations
- Your interests and priorities: Are you more interested in pursuing a B.Tech from IIT Bombay or an M.Tech from MIT?
- Your academic and career goals: Will a B.Tech from NIT Surathkal or an M.Tech from MIT align better with your goals?
- The risks and benefits of taking a drop year: Are you prepared to take the risk of not improving your score or getting into IIT Bombay?
Ultimately, the decision depends on your individual circumstances, priorities, and goals.
