Good Infrastructure and facilities. Wifi is available in the academic blocks but not in hostel. We need a LAN cable to get wifi in hostel. They are well maintained. No smart boards are present. Living spaces are clean and food is reasonably hyginic.
Good quality of teaching but it varies based on professor. I am studying in computer science and engineering. Quality of teaching is good but it also depends on the professor and the portion. It is not very much updated and it is reasonably enough for the jobs.
Good structure of placement committee. They manage and comfort the students. Good percentage of students are placed in good companies. Average salary is good in our department. The placement process is also good .
Yes it is worth the money
An awesome campus life
A very good college
We haven't visited the campus so far. Seniors told us that all the infrastructure, sports facilities, hostels, transport and food are very good. They particularly mentioned that the library is very good.
The quality of teaching is very good. Professors here are very knowledgeable. Doubts are clarified. The concepts are made very clear .Professors are student friendly and approachable. They start teaching from the basics and hence our understanding become even more better.
The quality of placements is good. According to the data of year 2019-2020,77% of the b-tech students were placed. Highest package is 88.82 lakhs per annum from computer science engineering. Median salary for computer science department is 24.57 lakhs per annum.
Yes it has an excellent infrastructure . We have sufficient facilities and all proper equipments. We have wifi facilities in hostel rooms, classrooms , library and at many places of institution. We have computer facilities in library for the students who can't afford a PC. Every class is equipped with projectors . Yes living spaces are cleaned regularly . Campus is always very clean. Food provided was hygienic but the taste not maintained up to the mark due to that students prefer to eat outside
I am studying in mechanical engineering , Quality of teaching depends on the proffs in my opinion. Not everyone teach in the way we understand. Yes I think curriculum is updated and includes all recent developments in the field.
I don't know much about placements but as far as I know about 75% students gets placed. Highest packages was more than 1Cr . It was from Computer science branch. I think average salary offered was around 6-8 lac per annum
Around 2 lacs. Yes I felt money's worth if it is offline teaching.
Campus Life was amazing. It is a place of many activities . Every club including apart from studies music, dance, media, coding ,CFI, cinematography every activity is available. Student can pursue whatever they want.
IIT Madras is already a well-known college and was established way back in 1951. The college has all the necessary infrastructure and equipment and so much more. The classrooms are big enough to accommodate the students. The campus also has buildings and areas allocated for the student activities.
I am currently pursuing B.Tech in mechanical engineering at IITM. The professors here are well experienced. The curriculum is very flexible and gives the students a chance to pursue a minor or extend their degree to a dual degree.
According to the last years stats IITM has managed to place all its students from the btech course. Though the placement process was done online, the college has done remarkably well in getting the students placed.
Many companies and campus programs provide scholarship to students based on the economic background and their performance in the academics. The institute also encourages students irrespective of their background to pursue their dreams in the area of their interest.
I have not experienced it yet but I certainly believe from what I have heard that it is campus life that makes the experience at IIT memorable for life. I hate to miss it but I am also very eager to go to the campus as soon as possible.
It is worth all the hard work and pain that takes to get here. It is not just the college but the students and people here that make the experience very special.
It has well equipped laboratories, classrooms, libraries, sports centres and hostels. One of the best atmosphere where you can live . whole campus is maintained properly and hostels, messes are also clean and well maintained.
Professor here are so friendly, they start from basic so it will be good even if u were weak in the basics for that particular topic in your jee times. Curriculum is up to date . Also Professors mention the recent advancement in that topic.
Quality of placements at my college is great. For Mechanical engineering, 65 to 75 per cent of students get placed. Highest package in mechanical engineering is 50 lakhs per annum . College is so supportive for placement.
College has good infrastructure. We haven't yet been there but we are told that the SAC (Student Activity Centre) and OAT(Open Air Theatre) are some things to look forward to and the internet speed is really good.
Professors here take you from very basic level to the highest level. Most of the professors here are friendly and approachable. High range of courses are available as electives which help you build non core knowledge too.
Placements here in IIT M are considerably high. Computer Science department has a median salary of 24.57 lakh per annum with highest being 88.82 lakh per annum placing 91% of the students for the year 2019-20.
It costs around 1 lakh per semester for open category students.
The only institute in India with a research park is IIT Madras. The campus, which spans 600 acres and includes well-equipped facilities, is enormous. You also have access to a variety of sports facilities, including cricket, football, tennis, squash, and a gym
I would say that the majority of the faculty members are quite well qualified, that they represent some of the brightest minds in the country. The attendance policy is a little severe as it is necessary to keep an average of 85 percent
In my opinion, placements have been excellent in recent years. Many companies are hiring for positions in Analytics, Finance, Data Science, Software Development, and Product Management. Core placements in areas other than CSE, EE, Mechanical Engineering aren't particularly good
Despite the fact that IIT fees have increased. the government and institute make every effort to assist financially disadvantaged students
If someone is willing, there are numerous activities to participate in and there are numerous groups within the institute that keep you busy with various activities of the time.all
IITM is known to have world-class facilities with state-of-the-art laboratories, well-equipped classrooms, all major sports facilities, a central library, cafeterias, and good hostel and mess facilities. The whole first semester was insufficient for me to explore all the places on campus. Initially, hostel facilities may not match the expectations, but soon, the hostel would become my second home. I was scared about mess food, but it is good in terms of taste and as well as hygiene.
Honestly, classroom study is not that interesting except for a few prof's classes, but the environment and culture outside the class and friends will teach you a lot. The research and entrepreneurship environment is the best among all the institutes in the country. The curriculum is always up to date and aligned with the industry requirements.
IITM is always a favorite destination for recruitment for many top firms (e.g., Google, Amazon, Netflix, IBM, and many more). The placement percentage for 2019-20 was 64% across all streams, with the highest salary offered, Rs. 88.82 lakhs per annum in the Computer-Science branch. The median salary offered to UG was 13.06 lakhs per annum. Institute extends all support to help you out in the placement procedure.
Although the fees for IITs have been increased, the government and institute ensure to help financially weak students in all possible ways. There are many schemes by the government and various merit-based scholarships provided by the institute to help these students. Apart from this, from my experience, the quality education and exposure I am getting, have no comparison with the invested money.
There are a lot of activities to do if someone is willing. There are many clubs in the institute that engage you in different activities all the time. I have never seen an event like "Saarang" in my life before. Apart from academic pressure, campus life is enriching and you will make a lot of friends and lifetime memories.
Iit name itself have brand. Iit madras have very good infrastructure with proper lab with equipments and classroom with white board and libraries with all necessary books and sport ground and i have not opted for the hostel but i have asked to my friends according to him All hostel at IIT Madras has almost all Indore games along with some outdore games. Every wing in a hostel has a washing machine and we do have a common washing room. It's 24*7 free Internet + electricity+ water.
I am an student of ms mechanical engineering and the courses are little bit updated with new theory and practical but student are not well prepared for the job interview and practical are not focused teacher more over focused on theoretical part and webinar are conducted. And faculty are all phd with greatest knowledge and They are world known in there specification. They have plenty of research paper in top conferences. They generally involved in lot of government and private sectors projects.
engineering has almost 100% placements with average package of 12lpa. More then 250 companies register every year and hear intership is 100% You can take up a project in your department or get into a company.I didn't apply for internship. Generally stipend offered is around 25k to 70k per month.
Yearly fee is ok but if you are having any financial problems than IIT comes under A grade college, so lots of banks(including SBI, Canera etc) offer loan with 9% of annual tax. Also MHRD used to pay scholarship of 12.4k to masters and 26k to Direct PhD students.
Campus Life is amazing here. You have a your own beach which you can go anytime you want (except during night time when there are high tides). But, never go for swimming in the water as chances of drowning is very high in those waters. We have amazing seniors to help, two fests, one ENGINEER (technical fest), and the other INCIDENT (cultural fest). INCIDENT is the best fest overall as it is the second largest fest in whole of South India after IIT Bombay's MOOD INDIGO.
Overall i was a great experience .

Admission to IIT Madras, like all Indian Institutes of Technology, is highly competitive and governed by strict eligibility criteria. To qualify, candidates must clear JEE Advanced and also meet specific academic standards. The official requirements state that applicants must either achieve a minimum of 75% marks in their Class 12 examinations (65% for SC, ST, or PwD categories), or rank within the top 20 percentile of their respective board for the relevant category.
With a score of 49%, you would not meet the general marks criterion. Your eligibility now depends on whether this score places you within the top 20 percentile of your board for your category. It is advisable to check your board’s percentile cutoffs for your specific year and category to confirm this.
If you are not eligible this year, you might consider preparing to retake JEE Main and Advanced in the next cycle, provided you meet age and attempt limits. Alternatively, you could explore admission to other reputable institutions such as IIITs, NITs (if your JEE Main score is competitive), state engineering colleges, or private universities with more flexible entry requirements.
Should you wish, I can assist in identifying colleges that align with your current academic profile and category. Please let me know if you would like more tailored guidance.
Hello Aspirant,
When applying to BS in Medical Sciences and Engineering at IIT Madras via the IAT (IISER Aptitude Test) for the OBC-NCL Female category, the suggested ranks and marks can differ every year depending on the level of difficulty or how many took the exam. However, based on the trends from year-to-year:
Hey student! To get admission in the dual degree Aerospace Engineering program at IIT Madras through the female quota, your JEE Advanced rank should ideally be within 6000 to 6500. This is based on recent trends and can vary slightly each year depending on seat availability and cutoffs.
If your rank is around or below 6000, your chances are quite strong. Even if it's a little above that, you might still get in during the later rounds of JoSAA counselling, especially if others withdraw or shift branches.
So, aim for a good rank and keep an eye on the counselling rounds. You’ve got a realistic shot if you stay within that range.
All the best!
