As I am in my first year, I am exposed to physics and CS labs only. And they are the best labs, and the staff is very supportive. Wi-Fi speed is best in classrooms, mess, and libraries. There are washing machines and one water purifier on each floor. In the hostel, there's also a mess where you will get breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. Almost all kinds of sports facilities are available, and you will get chances to participate in inter-IIT sports, i.e., competitions. You will get awesome medical facilities available 24/7 that are free of cost. Even the medicine given by doctors is free of cost.Classrooms are well structured; there is a podium and projector screens.
Honestly speaking, faculty members are a bit boring, but they are well qualified. They do not give their 100 percent to teach the students. The course curriculum is very relevant and makes students industry ready.End terms are very difficult, but midterms and quizzes are durable. In CS 101, out of 700 students, 55 fail in math, or about 51, so about 10 to 12% of students fail. Faculty just go by the slides that they have copied from any book. Yes, this course curriculum is relevant, and it makes the students industry-ready.
The batch size of the 2023 chemical department is 147. The highest package is 47 lakhs, the average package is 17 lakhs, and the lowest is 7 lakhs. The top recruiting companies for chemicals are IOCl, BPCL, ONGC, and Reliance Industries. Almost 40% of the students got internships in our branches, like CRODA and Everest Carbon.Recruiters are from top mnc's.
The hostels are world-class. The students get a shared room (double occupancy) in their first to third year, and they get a single room in their last semester. The mess food is really good and gives a balanced diet. Hostels are allotted at the beginning of a session by Hall managers. IIT Bombay is situated in Powai.
There are a total of 27 faculty members in our department of Biosciences and Bioengineering. The total number of students in M.Sc. are 28 and in M.Tech are 25. All the faculty members are the real gems of our department and will guide you in the best way possible.
The students become eligible for placements in their last semesters. Nearly 1800 students get placed every year and more than 300 companies visit. The highest package offered is around 2 crores and the average package is around 16 Lacs.Nearly 90% students get placed.

Dear Sir/Madam,
The features of IIT Bombay in Metallurgy/Material science:
The features of IIT Dhanbad in Electronics and communication Engineering:
Both colleges are good and the choice is yours.choose wisely based on your goals and interest.
If you want the IIT Bombay tag and switching career like software/MBA/Analytics can go for Metallurgy at IIT Bombay.
If you have more interest in Tech side and want flexibility in Tech core can go for ECE at IIT Dhanbad.
If you passed 12th in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) in 2023, you need to study PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Math) to be eligible for BTech in IIT Bombay through JEE Advanced. You can join 12th again with PCM subjects in 2024 and appear for JEE Main and Advanced after passing. This way, you become eligible because math is compulsory for engineering. So yes, you can do 12th again with PCM and then try for IIT through JEE. Keep working hard!
Let's break down your options:
Current Situation
- You've scored 98.67 in JEE Mains 2025, which might not be enough to secure a seat in IIT Bombay for B.Tech.
- However, you're likely to get a seat in NIT Surathkal for EEE or ECE.
Option 1: Pursue B.Tech in NIT Surathkal
- Pros:
- You'll get a good undergraduate degree from a reputable institution.
- You can focus on academics, research, and extracurricular activities.
- Cons:
- You might feel that you're not in your dream college (IIT Bombay).
Option 2: Take a Drop Year for JEE Advanced 2026
- Pros:
- You might improve your score and secure a seat in IIT Bombay for B.Tech.
- IIT Bombay is a prestigious institution with excellent resources and opportunities.
- Cons:
- There's no guarantee that you'll improve your score or get into IIT Bombay.
- You'll have to prepare for another intense exam season.
Option 3: Pursue M.Tech from MIT (Manipal Institute of Technology)
- Pros:
- MIT offers a good M.Tech program with various specializations.
- You can gain expertise in your chosen field and enhance your career prospects.
- Cons:
- You'll need to complete your B.Tech before applying for M.Tech.
- You might need to take entrance exams like GATE or MET.
Considerations
- Your interests and priorities: Are you more interested in pursuing a B.Tech from IIT Bombay or an M.Tech from MIT?
- Your academic and career goals: Will a B.Tech from NIT Surathkal or an M.Tech from MIT align better with your goals?
- The risks and benefits of taking a drop year: Are you prepared to take the risk of not improving your score or getting into IIT Bombay?
Ultimately, the decision depends on your individual circumstances, priorities, and goals.
