We can not tell much about the hostels because have not been there as it is an online degree, but whenever I get there in the fests I can explore the campus myself and then I can make any comment on that, but tell from other people's experience it is very well.
The teachers are well qualified and experienced in their subjects, they have a good knowledge and they teach really fantastic. The course curriculum is fully relevant to the industry demands of this time. The semester exams are little tough but if you study thoroughly in as much time you get, it is enough to get good marks.
Placements are very well as I have heard from seniors, also the support of placement cell is very good. The top recruiting companies are L&T, Amazon etc., most of the jobs are in data Science field, mostly data Science or data analyst intern in the companies.
Course is seriously good
Since this is a distance/off-campus/online course, you won't get access to campus for regular study, but you can visit the campus with your official ID card. If we talk about the curriculum and academics, then you are going to have an IIT-level quality of education.
All the instructors and professors are well-qualified from the world's top institutes. Most of them are helpful and are free to help students in their academics through their email. In this era of fast-growing technology and data, this course is very relevant. This course will help you be future-ready in the industry. All the assessments, including exams, are of standard level, with no chance of cheating. Generally, the pass percentage is 40% or above.
The official data on placements is not published by IITM BS. But some sources say that students get internships at big companies and also get a handsome package. Some of the top roles that one can get from a BS in Data Science and Application are data scientist, data analyst, and many more.
All the professor are helpful
The college is having a lot of greenery which makes much it more beautiful. I can bet you will definitely enjoy the campus life if you stay in hostel. But some of my north Indian friend were not satisfied with the mess food at all.
Being a msc (physics) student I gained a lot of knowledge during my course , I was very much interested in the academic subjects we used to study. Also if you perform well then teachers also promote your ideas on which you work. I can say that the quality of teaching was top level.
The college offers beautiful placements and internships opportunities to students to be into their dream companies at my time I got the highest package in my department . But for a nice package you must have a good resume, that can help you in applying for nice job opportunities.
I would rate the campus and other facilities to be sufficient for a student of any course. You can opt for hostel and be ready for the mess food because that will not be that much good. Other than that it is well maintained .
I was masters student ,and the teachers at the time I was a student were just amazing. In academics I used to score about 90% most of the time because of the teachers and curriculum also supports students to gain some valuable skills.
Yes the packages are decent for a msc student if he/she wants to go for a job and if not you can further continue in some higher degree like me but do it only if you are really interested. Also I like smoothness and transparency of the process.
I am mechanical branch student at iit madras ,talking about the campus of my college I can say that it is a well developed college. The classes are having smart boards and other required things. Also new equipments are their in the laboratories.
The teachers in the college are very nice and the curriculum which they teach us is having new technologies also. In my department which is mechanical, the teachers helps a lot . The academics with some other skills(which we have to develop) will make you job ready.
The placements is not a hectic task you can easily move through the streamline process and will definitely land into some good job . The process from starting to end is nice. The overall average package was close to 20 lpa this year.
As it is an iit , you can expect very huge infrastructure . Also , the campus is really big with a hostel and a lot of space , plus greenery is everywhere . The library is my favourite , ha ing lots of books and a group discussion room in it .
The college faculty is very experienced and highly qualified , and they are very well known . The ratio is about 180 teachers . A college exam is in the semester format , where we have to give an exam every semester in order to get promoted to the next semester , and it is medium hard to pass the exam .
More than 90 percent of students are placed on campus . The package is also high . It also provides internship programs and industrial projects to the students in the college . The college also provides the students with am internship program in which they can take part and get selected through the interview round , and they can learn and grasp knowledge and experience exposure from that internship for the upcoming placement sessions .
The infrastructure available for the mba course at this college was very good .the college has a big campus with all kinds of modern facilities , which enhances students learning . The entire campus has wifi connectivity , which can be assessed by the college teachers and students .
The faculty of the dorms Madras was highly qualified and knowledgeable . All the teaching staff available in the mba course were supportive and helpful to the students . The course curriculum followed for the mba at this college was relevant , which makes students industry ready .
In our batch , around 60 percent of the students get placed at the dorms in Madras . The college has a well developed placements ce that conducts various placement drives for the on campus placements of the students .
When I visited my college for lab work, the hostel was very good, the classrooms were very good, and the library was very good; everything was fine. If we talk about quality, the quality of the classrooms is very good, but the food is not so good. But yes, you will be satisfied.
All the teachers are knowledgeable and qualified. All of them have there Masters in at least one of their specializations. They are very active with students, and they are good at clarifying doubts. All the things they teach make us feel interested in learning the subject. Ssemster exams will be relevant to what they taught in class. And the pass percentage is around 4 gpa in each subject. But as for placements and all, you should maintain a 7.5 on average before last semester .
As per last year, it was 1.31 CPA, the highest package in some research fields, and the average package is around 15 LPA. Key recruiters include many major companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Deloitte. Actually, there was a 19% increase last year in the number of students who got internships. The recruiting companies are Texas Instruments, JP Morgan Chase, Adobe, and Procter & Gamble.
Very good college.
The hostel facility is really amazing. Students get to stay in Mandakini Hotel, which is the newest 10-floor building with all facilities and amenities. It has automatic washing machines, amazing washrooms, good rooms, windows, fans, desks, chairs, almirahs, and everything. The food at IIT Madras is good; we have veg, non-veg, and north-south options, and the menu changes every 14 days. We can also switch the mess every month.
The faculty-to-student ratio is good, and I believe the faculty is more focused on operations. This course is suitable for people with a teaching or strong engineering background. The faculty’s credentials and approach to teaching and mentorship are amazing. They are very friendly and approachable, and their academic excellence is demonstrated by the number of papers they have written, awards they have won, and their vast industry experience.
Placement data is not yet released by the college official. Also, in this year, May and June, most of the companies will visit campus, and this year 2024 will be the first time when students are getting placed. We can assume an average of 3 LPA and a maximum package can be of 6-7 LPA.
Superb college.
Institute has excellent infrastructure available in individual departments and centres, and it has several centrally located facilities for researchers. Food was also well prepared in the mess and canteen and there were multiple food courts on campus. Campus had a running hospital for medical emergencies.
First it's an IIT so professor are already good and teaching standard is also great. Classes used to be exciting and the courses provided deep insights into management world phenomena. It is very industry-ready as we use it to solve real-world case studies and perform live projects to improve our learning further.
The placement is really great and the package is also high. It also provides internship programs and industrial projects to the students in the college. The college also provides the students with an internship program in which they can take part and get selected through the interview round.
Yes of course the college is value for money.
The life of campus is great.
Nothing
Certainly
Admission to IIT Madras, like all Indian Institutes of Technology, is highly competitive and governed by strict eligibility criteria. To qualify, candidates must clear JEE Advanced and also meet specific academic standards. The official requirements state that applicants must either achieve a minimum of 75% marks in their Class 12 examinations (65% for SC, ST, or PwD categories), or rank within the top 20 percentile of their respective board for the relevant category.
With a score of 49%, you would not meet the general marks criterion. Your eligibility now depends on whether this score places you within the top 20 percentile of your board for your category. It is advisable to check your board’s percentile cutoffs for your specific year and category to confirm this.
If you are not eligible this year, you might consider preparing to retake JEE Main and Advanced in the next cycle, provided you meet age and attempt limits. Alternatively, you could explore admission to other reputable institutions such as IIITs, NITs (if your JEE Main score is competitive), state engineering colleges, or private universities with more flexible entry requirements.
Should you wish, I can assist in identifying colleges that align with your current academic profile and category. Please let me know if you would like more tailored guidance.
Hello Aspirant,
When applying to BS in Medical Sciences and Engineering at IIT Madras via the IAT (IISER Aptitude Test) for the OBC-NCL Female category, the suggested ranks and marks can differ every year depending on the level of difficulty or how many took the exam. However, based on the trends from year-to-year:
Hey student! To get admission in the dual degree Aerospace Engineering program at IIT Madras through the female quota, your JEE Advanced rank should ideally be within 6000 to 6500. This is based on recent trends and can vary slightly each year depending on seat availability and cutoffs.
If your rank is around or below 6000, your chances are quite strong. Even if it's a little above that, you might still get in during the later rounds of JoSAA counselling, especially if others withdraw or shift branches.
So, aim for a good rank and keep an eye on the counselling rounds. You’ve got a realistic shot if you stay within that range.
All the best!
